What time on Sunday's is the garden state parkway not a complete disaster? Sitting in 10 mph traffic between AC and Jersey City is extremely tilting and I leave fairly late in the evening usually which I thought would be good.Anyone know any good times or is it pretty much a 24/7 **** show in the summer?

All the weekend beachgoers and weekend warriors head back north all Sunday. Either before noon or do the pro move and leave Monday afternoon.

later is worst. everyone packs in a full weekend then heads back. if you don't go super early you're screwed. even after you get off the parkway, all the nyc bridges and tunnels back up and screw up the turnpike too.

i have had, on occasion, found it faster to take the ac expressway to 95 and then go up. still traffic, but not as bad.

get waze... it will tell you the fastest route.

Start looking at some alternate routes. From Jersey City you could take the turnpike to Exit 7 and then US 206 to US 30 at Hammonton. There are other routes through South Jersey. I used to live in central Jersey and from there, only suckers took the Parkway or Rte 9 to the Shore.

I took a bus. Don't think suggesting new routes to the driver would work lol.

But I'll keep in mind that earlier=better. Thanks.

Or super late. The beach crowd is gone after 7 . its going to not matter much anymore soon anyway. After labor day , people stop going to the beach for the most part.

Not sure if you are serious, but I doubt if online poker is feasible on a moving bus.

Why not? I've never tried. I know there were some comments on here that the wifi in some of those buses that have it can be unreliable. Also I know there have been many reported problems with the casino sites' geolocation software. I live about 4 miles from PA and they're unable to verify that I live in NJ, so I can see where they would have problems with a moving vehicle.

FWIW I've been to AC by at least 15 +times and not once have I ever had working wi-fi (not even semi working, just not able to connect at all) on Greyhound, though they all claim to have it.

I was gonna answer your question, but I see you already beat me to it.

How much do the games in AC dry up during the winter? Is it just reg/pro fest?

IMO the y don't dry up that much in the winter months. Although ac is a shore town, they stay busy unlike the other shore towns that are strictly used for the beach and boardwalk. Besides, I don't think people have actually traveled to AC just to use the beach or stroll the boardwalk in some time. An argument can even be made that the games are juicer because tourists have nowhere else to go (somewhat locally) in the winter months.

What are borgata dealer shifts like? In general, length of shift and do they change bi weekly or set?

AC is WAY busier in the spring/summer months AINEC.

Sure, if there's a major tournament in town you can expect the room to be busy, same as you would on the weekends. But if you're talking strictly about your run of the mill ordinary day Sun-Thurs, yes, AC(including Borgata) is much slower once the cooler weather starts to kick in and Jan-March is even worse.

If you're inquiring about a dealer position, then unless you're willing to be a tournament dealer, good luck trying to get a job there(unless you're an attractive young Asain girl, then of course you have a shot). I asked the PR manager awhile back if he planned on taking in some of the really good Taj dealers right after their room shut down and he said, no, I'm not hiring anyone.

Not really. Actually I'm going to be looking for apartments soon, and I want something else to talk about besides saying I'm a professional poker player

There were good dealers at the Taj? They must have all been off the times I've played there.

Heh. Yes, the Taj had some very good dealers; most of them were day shift, though, although they def had some good night shift dealers, too.

Many of them transferred to Borgata over the years and til this day they are still your best dealers overall. Imo.

...the best dealers overall are undoubtedly those that cut their teeth dealing mid-limit games at the Taj...

I was going to post this in the Bally's thread, but to my surprise it's closed. I'm curious why, seeing as the Trop, Harrah's, and, of course, Borgata threads are still cooking. I know Bally's isn't terribly exciting, but the poker room is still open.

Anyway, I wanted to note that the elusive free room does, in fact, exist. At least if you don't count the fees that bring it up to $29.00. I was playing Tuesday night and the casino was pretty much dead, although there was a decent amount of poker going. I got a really nice room in the Bally tower. I'm thinking as we get into the fall and winter the rooms should be pretty available.

The 29$ "free" room at ballys is so ridiculously LOL when borgatas rooms are 5$ a night in taxes when comped.

CET is such a ludicrous company. Still can't understand how the market hasn't weeded them out yet.

How many hours do you need to play at Borgata to get a $5 room?
