Good rule of thumb: if the cost of the hotel is under $50, then you're usually looking at a fleabag room with that horrible Glade air freshener smell.

The Fairfield Inn byMarriot is definitely decent, about ~15 from the strip on the WhiteHorse Pike(rt. 30). It's not going to be "The Borgata" but then again, it's also not going to cost you $400 a night. But it's duable, clean, and safe.

I would Google "Hotels near AC" and take it from there. Make sure it has at least a 3-4 star rating.

The Fairfield Inn on White Horse Pike is no more. It is now a Red Roof Inn. Probably still the class of Absecon.

Has it been that long since I drove past that area of Absecon? Wow.

There's often a very fine line between the two.

This is kind of a funny weird story. The initial crime was last year so many of you probably heard about it, but I hadn't until today.

To play polo at the level he does you're spending millions of dollars every year to buy and maintain a stable of horses. And then you also pay to hire professional players (and their stable of horses) to play with you. This isn't adult softball where you and your buddies get a team together to play other people. This a sport where you hire a team full of studs to beat the **** out of your friend and his team of hired studs.

If he tells me his polo buddies would be willing to drop insane amounts of money on stupid **** inside his Atlantic City super building, I completely believe him.

I'd be interested in seeing if and how a place like that could transform the landscape of AC. As much as I love hanging out there, it really can't get a whole hell of a lot worse, so why not try something different?

AC needed someone with a vision and the guts to execute it to take over Revel. Short of Steve Wynn or Donald Trump, people with creativeness, willingness to take a huge risk AND casino expertise, having a guy who's borderline nuts isn't a bad outcome.

I mean, this beats someone just buying it for pennies on the dollar and running it as a mediocre casino.

It's a long shot but if any of his ideas work they could literally save AC... and the water park is a very good idea, I've been saying someone needs to do that for a long time.

first of all the water park is not a good idea. it's totally ludicrous doesn't make sense. second, let's not forget that this dude did buy it for pennies and more than likely is not going to do **** with it

Why? It's a resort town. It's on the Boardwalk, where people expect to see tourist attractions and amusement rides. Out of all the proposed uses for Revel and the Showboat, a water park is the least ludicrous.

Because "this dude" made his billions by buying up properties and not doing anything with them?

the water park is ridiculous Bc the revel is a big beautiful hotel..you can't just put a water park inside it, that would ruin the whole building. so you're going to have to put the water park outside, which means this attraction is only going to work for 3 months out of the year - no good. I also just doubt ppl will come just for a water park.

as far as this dude just buying properties up and flipping them and ****, yeah if I remember correctly he's done this multiple times where he buys the land for pennies (pretending he is going to do something with it to get a good deal) then just levels the land or flips it.

I'm very skeptical of this guy and his craziness

was the idea being floated around (mainly on here) to put the water park inside? a water park in AC somewhere i think is a great idea. we need more family oriented activities. and it's a beach town. they could put a water park anywhere in ac, including revel beach, and i think it would be a hit... or at least a positive addition to the city.

I think Strauss said it would be a hybrid part inside part outside. I really doubt he was being serious with building a water park though

I heard someone throw a proposal out there basically just throwing the whole casino/boardwalk model out the window, concentrating on casinos at the Marina district, and eventually transforming the boardwalk area back into a hotel-only, family geared resort area.

The last thing I think of AC being, is a resort town---I just don't see it. And, aside from the Borgata, there really isn't anything special or family oriented in any of the other casinos. I can't see a waterpark putting that much of a dent in regards to bettering the city. And it would absolutely need to be an outside attraction! Do you know how cold you get when you get wet? Could you imagine not being outside in the heat/sun to counteract that? That's what makes it fun ffs! Oh, and goody for us we have four months out of the year that this would fly.

Example, when you go to Vegas, the Bellagio has their beautiful atrium, people spend a lot of time in their taking pictures and it's quite impressive.. They also have an art exhibit, a piano bar, and countless other things to do and see including their spectacular water show. And what about the fire show at the Mirage and the pirate show at TI? Dont forget about the Freemont Experience light show downtown and the rides and attractions at NY NY. I didn't even mention the water park. And all this stuff is just a dent as to what LV has to offer, and, I know that everyone knows all this already and I'm not stating anything new here, but that imo, is what makes it a resort town.

I'll be the first to say that AC does have some really good restaurants (2825 is the bomb btw) and the beach and the boardwalk are the only two other aspects of the city that even remotely prevents me from calling it a complete ****hole.

Paying attention to the road.

Seriously though, Morton's has good happy hour eats. The Irish Pub is an iconic dive bar, so grab a beer there. (Bring cash.) Play poker at the Borgata.
