Showboat was by far the my favorite place to play on the boardwalk. Windows looking out to the boardwalk and twenty seconds from your chair to standing on the boardwalk taking in the ocean air.

Funniest story was sitting there one afternoon and this couple walks up to the one way windows and she proceeds to change out of her bathing suits while he holds up a blanket to block the view from the boardwalk. She wasn't all that, but everyone in the room got a chuckle and a show.

I really liked the feel of playing in Showboat - beautiful room, beautiful view. But I also remember inattentive dealers looking out at the beach, and that permanent circle of laughing floor people always congregated at the front of the room.

Beautiful room, but such an unprofessional staff ...

I'm sure you played there many times.

Revel had the best poker comps in the last decade of AC. Plus it was a beautiful room (although slightly far to get to). Just saying....

I blame the designers of the building. The room was almost impossible to find even when you were particularly looking for it. It was never going to get any drop-in traffic in that location, even if the casino had been more successful.

Hey, all. I'm going to be in AC for a week or so. Can someone recommend me what room to play in? I've looked a bit through the threads but haven't really found anything about what rooms are the "nicest", except the showboat which is closed.

Looking for 1/2 and 1/3 NL, and am assuming the games will be soft anywhere, so I'm mostly looking for a room that's aesthetically pleasing, has comfortable chairs, free drinks (water, tea) would be nice, etc.

I've looked up a few photos but none of the rooms really look pleasing. The blackjack and craps areas are always much more appealing :/

Drinks are free in every casino if you're playing, however, if you don't tip they are a dollar. (that's a joke, just tip your waitress)

Almost everyone will say Borgata is the nicest, and they are correct, but if you're going to be in town for a week check out the others as well.

I would check out Borgata in the marina, and if you want to check out a casino on the boardwalk, then the Tropicana.

If aesthetically pleasing is your primary deciding factor though no real reason not to go to Borgata.

As someone who played there a lot it's simply not true. Friday and Saturday nights after 8PM there was always a lot of action from fish. It's just that 2+2ers unfairly trashed the room before giving it a real shot. The crazy part is after it closed when Borg live player heard the comps they missed they were shocked.... LOL.... All my personal experience. Great EV+ times while it lasted!

this is exactly right. room could have been in a better location but games were good. comps were awesome. food and drinks were awesome. management was best and most proactive and in touch with players i've ever seen.

poker room had same stupid issue the rest of the casino did... people didn't go there because other people didn't go there. all you heard was "the place is going bankrupt so i'm not going there" like it would close while you were playing and they wouldn't cash your chips. gorgeous brand new casino on the boardwalk that treated their poker players like kings and people who never went or gave it a fair chance crapped on it constantly.

i'm bitter.

Hmm, well it was almost impossible for ME to find it, and that's when I was looking for it! I walked within 30 feet of the room the first time without even knowing where it was, signage was so bad. And I still tried to go there several times; I heard about some of the special promos, but the times I tried to go when I had heard about them, there were no games going at all.

Any way to get poker rate rooms on weekends? I work mon-fri so it'd hard for me to get time off during the week. Just want to spend maybe Friday night and leave Saturday just playing poker

Sent from my SM-G900T using 2+2 Forums

Not likely in the summer. Room have been pretty pricey on the weekends lately.

Nice to see the boys still talking about Revel.... agreed there were many who just didn't want to give the room a shot until it was too late. Chill Rob, while I agree the room wasn't in the best location it could have been, you can only not find something once. After you find it you know where it is!!! Once a guest took the time to find the room, it was only 6 minutes from the parking garage, that is about the amount of time it takes to get to many poker rooms. Foot traffic was a small issue but for the amount of people that were in the building as a whole, we got our percentage walking by the room.
Hope all you guys are doing well, Hack, Chick Johnny G and Chill, always great to hear from you guys!!! ROAD TRIP lol just saying!!!

Frankie! I'm coming up to turningstone soon. My brother just turned 18 and I'm gonna break him in on the felt.

As far as Revel goes, I give you a lot of credit it. All I did was play there and I'm still pissed about it! haha. Hope everything is going well up there

Icahn is closing the Taj after Labor Day.

I was in AC 2 weeks ago and the Taj was pretty ugly. I stayed at Borgata but drove to the Taj to see a friend. It was a Saturday so I expected at least a decent crowd. Driving into the garage I got screamed at by those on strike, walking from the garage every trash can was overflowing, the poker room had 2 tables going, the pits were pretty slow and those striking workers on the boardwalk were yelling at patrons walking into the Taj. This could be just Icahn playing hardball but I'm not surprised about a closure. Hopefully those employees affected will be able to find employment elsewhere

They're blaming the union/strike, but it would probably be more honest to just say they don't have a path to profitability even without settling the strike.

Revel was a golden age of AC poker. I remember those days fondly.

Can we get the 10 hours in a gaming day to get a weekend room comp?

I actually don't have a car.... 😢 but I would consider getting up there somehow....

Ichan still owns a big piece of trop, right?

I suspect he had planned for a shut down all along, barring a complete surrender from the union. Either way the union is heavily damaged, and he strengthens his negotiating power next go round.

Hate to see it for the employees and the city. Hope it helps strengthen the seven that are left.

...sucks for the guy who just reopened showboat too. "Come stay between two abandoned casinos!"

Has anyone seen resorts recently? How are they doing? The beach bar they built was pretty popular last time I was in town, but getting pretty lonely on that end of the boardwalk.

Resorts is doing very well. Lively atmosphere and usually fairly crowded.

Yes, Icahn Enterprises owns the Taj and the majority of Tropicana Entertainment, which owns the Trop and manages the Taj.

Hey now, that place with the secret name (formerly Revel) is reopening any day now! Or next week. Or the week after that. Or...
