^^thanks for above answers

Sorry I can’t contribute more to this tread, but thanks for the input…

Booked a late summer trip with the wife and I to the Taj Chairman (Any Possibility in asking/tipping for anything more, ala Vegas)…would do Revel but can’t really justify paying more unless it is that much better as we rarely spend time in the room…. Can still cancel…should we??

Will prolly play twice (golf…she’s a 10.5 and I’m 13.0) once at Brigantine and then at Twisted Dunes based on review…have car will travel… anymore suggestions?

What is the price diff between Taj and Revel/Borgata? Your paying $100 per round at TD why do you want to stay at a dumpy casino?

The casino may not be as nice as Revel, but the Taj Chairman Tower is certainly not "dumpy". They definitely have the nicest regular rooms outside of Revel in my opinion, and I would prefer it overall as a place to spend the night.

I happen to agree. I think the tower was built in 2008 or so. The casino and poker chips may be dirty but the rooms in the tower are clean. I actually had a worse experience at showboat... but that's another story....

It depends on which nights you are staying and your prior play. At one point it was the Taj with $5 a night rooms Sun-Thurs. Not sure right now.

Can't comment on the poker rate, but if you had read the last page of the thread instead of searching, you'd see my post that Revel currently has free parking with their basic players card.

The Atlantic Club does too.

Call Harrah's and the poker room picks up "Harrah's poker room, bad beat is 688 thousand."

Yeah its kinda weird that I have no problem spending $$ on well reviewed golf, but when it comes to places to stay I look for the best deal possible/ in a good place. I guess the wife and I value a great round over just a bed to sleep in.

I figure we can venture over to Revel since it's right next door if we want to.

Like chillrob said, Taj Chairman is the best standard hotel room in AC that I've experienced. (I've stayed at Taj Tower, Taj Chairman, Borgata, Water Club @ Borgata, Caesar's, Showboat, Harrah's, Claridge, and Bally's.)

Given the choice right now between Taj Chairman and Water Club @ Borgata though, I'd take the latter because of the vast superiority of the Borgata poker room to the Taj poker room these days from what I've read in their respective Poker Venue threads and this thread.

Can you elaborate on the differences between Revel and Taj Chairman and/or Borgata Water Club?

I stayed one night at Revel - I would say it was a bit nicer than Taj Chairman, but not by much, and even that may just be mostly because it was newer, and I also really liked the free wifi. What I didn't like was the difficult experience checking it and the lack of reasonable dining options.

Give the Taj a try sometime, just to see it for yourself. I was there the Saturday after Memorial Day, and I was surprised in a goodish way. I won't dispute the vastness of the gap between the two rooms, and the Taj has fallen a long way, but it wasn't all *that* bad. It depends on the game(s) you want, of course, but...I was going to say there's still some fight in it, but that's probably a poor choice of words for the venue. Although the small-limit stud game at the next table came close...

Borgata has the best rates for me, but I play limit games 20/40 and higher, so they are pretty good about rewarding regular play at those levels.

I have heard that if you're a NL player--who plays below 5/10--it is hard to get a good rate at the Borg, but I have no firsthand experience, obv.

Taj used to have decent poker rates, but the poker room there has gone to hell, so I don't know why you'd want to play there just for a rate. I think some do, however. But the NL games are better elsewhere (the Borg and small NL games at Bally's have a good rep), and if you aren't a NL player, there aren't really any games there anymore, anyway (except maybe the occasional 1-5 and 5/10 stud games).

GL and have fun. AC is, um, different than other gaming experiences, IMO. Don't expect the most beautiful place on Earth , but know that you can def have a great time--esp at the tables, as there are many soft games on the weekends.

Also, there was a big thing last summer about the Taj having bed bugs. Is that cleared up? I mean, I don't go there, but I'd like to be able to give people accurate info when they ask me...

That was only in the bus waiting area I believe.

Anyone list places open late/24 hours. Preferably outside of the casinos.

Irish pub still serving food til 4 or 5am?

According to their website here, they have late night dining.

So do a number (all?) of the casinos, although choices are limited. But there is food available.

My favorite outside of casinos is Chelsea Pub behind the Trop. Open 24 hrs.

Poor beer selection but good food.

Bill's, which "never closes," is now closed late at night. I walked by there a little after 3 last Sunday night and was a bit surprised they were closed late night in the summer.
