I guess you folks forgot I posted this, which is surprising since it was just 8 posts ago. Take the coronavirus talk to the CCP thread please.

Even if it is directly related to Arizona? This is the Arizona thread and I think how the leaders of Arizona handle the virus will have a direct impact of Arizona poker.

+1. We're in a state-specific crisis here. Add that to the unique situation of sovereign tribal casinos inside of top 10 US Metro area.

We've been treating coronavirus talk like tipping. Since it's a contentious topic that usually devolves into morality arguments and/or goes down the politics road (a topic not allowed in this forum), we have been containing it to a CCP thread. But I'll discuss with dinesh. Either way, there really is nothing stopping everyone from having the same exact discussion in that thread.

OR the negative results still are not being reported by private labs. California has an infection rate under 5%. Are people in AZ twice as likely to catch it? Or are the statistics skewed because negative results aren't reported?

After mod discussion, it's decided that it's fine to discuss coronavirus here, since it does effect what will happen re: poker/casinos, but do keep it related to poker/casino. General arguments about how data is measured, calling those out taking/not taking it seriously or wearing/not wearing masks, etc - basically anything that goes down a moral/political road - won't be tolerated here... that belongs in the CCP containment thread. And it's easy to go there, so tread carefully.

This makes sense.

Thank you!

Seems like Desert Diamond West is MIA on their supposed June 12th open date for poker so it's TSR or nothing for poker in the valley.

Got some new info from Desert Diamond west.

Of their 36 tables they're only removing 3 next to the cage to create extra space for people in line. The other 33 are going to be used is the plan. They're putting plexiglass up just like TS to play 7 handed. Most of the tables have the glass but I think they said 8 more still need it before they're ready. No exact date yet for reopening and but it should be soon.

The tricky part, besides not having an exact reopen date, is that they're not certain that there won't be another shutdown and they don't want to bring all the employees back just to shut down again.

It's ironic that these casinos were shut down when it wasn't that bad but are open now while Arizona has one of the worst outbreaks on the planet.

Looks like Native Americans are 5% of AZ's population, 6% of the cases, and 15% of the fatalities. (2237 *.15 = 335). I think we can call them a vulnerable population.

What's the latest with Arizona (Phoenix area) poker rooms? Is it going to be solely Talking Stick going forward, are none of the other rooms going to reopen? I had heard that Wild Horse Pass and Vee Quiva were not reopening but that they might open poker at Lone Butte. I emailed Desert Diamond West Valley and they would not even confirm that the poker room would ever reopen. Haven't heard anything about Ak Chin, or if Ft. McDowell will have poker when their new facility opens.
Hard to believe that it could go from six or seven rooms to one on a permanent basis.

Only info I have which I’m confident in is, WHP is reopening in the back half of the room with 10 tables. I am aware that bravo says 6 tables so, my info may be wrong. Oct 9th

Do you think CAZ will be making an attempt at AZ State Championship for 2020, or is that written off?

Is the TS hotel open for "normal" business?

Have there been any C19 cases traced back to the Poker Room? I'm sure they try to keep it hush hush but maybe somebody has inside info. I'd like to get down there and play in the next month or two. It sounds like they are taking all the precautions. It sounds like the infections are down in AZ. I'm just trying to assess my risk.

Casino Del Sol in Tucson is promoting splash pots and their calendar shows tournaments. These things indicate the poker room is open. Anyone been there to verify?

Casino Del Sol is open. Not many games most days- currently one 1-2 game with a big list for 1-3.

They have had some bigger games on Thursdays, including a 5-10-20 game last week. Look on Poker Atlas for current status.

Thanks. I don't like the room much because I run like crap there, but if I get too much of an itch, at least it's closer than driving all the way to Vegas.

How's the poker at Talking Stick? Have the older players come back? Are the games any good? How's the 20/40? Is it still 7 handed with the dividers? Are masks still required?

I saw two 20/40 and one 40/80 LHE going last night. I was kinda jealous but not worth the risk. Haven't played since Feb.

Played the 3/300 and the 5/500. Games are good. Dividers and masks are still required. No food service at the tables. This is a tribal decision, and has nothing to do with state regulations. An important distinction, especially when players at the tables are yelling about "Doug Douchey!" and you have to remind them how things work.

I will say the dividers are annoying, and you should probably bring headphones because the social aspect is pretty much non-existent with them there.

I haven't played since then either. I'm not in a high risk group but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to be playing cards during a pandemic. That being said I may be playing it way too safe.

At what point would you feel safe to go back?
