Because taking $63 out of a pot that consists of one bad player limping, the SB folding and the BB checking is impossible?

The 40 game sometimes goes 5+ hands before a timepot is paid because people are tightening up. That is where a raise and a call from the BB will have $180 in the pot and 'only' 1/3 of the pot paid for time. Cut that to $90 and you see how it could severely kill the action.

In AC we do half and half out of the first 2 pots that are $200 or more. Never affects the action much.

I was a fort mcdowell yesterday (don't ask why) and someone I knew showed up while I was waiting to get into the only cash game running, a 4-8 LHE. He asked if I wanted to start an 8-16 or a mixed game and the casino was ok with either if we wanted to start it heads up. We started playing a heads up 4-8 mixed game but then changed it to just holdem when some other players sat down. So, it appears as though the Fort is willing to start new games shorthanded which the other places are not willing to do. If anyone knows some people who would want to start a low limit mixed game, this may be the place to try. If you do, be sure to let me know about it as I enjoy different games.

I would definitely call beforehand though to make sure they will do it since it probably depends who is working at the time and how many free dealers there are, etc.

Moving to Scottsdale in a month

What are my options? Is talking stick the only close poker room?

What kind of games and how many tables do they spread there? I know it's mostly spread limit but 1/2? 1/3? 2/5? 5/10?

Sick of playing at Bovada finally get a chance to get back to the real tables

Ill mostly be playing at peak hours either nights or weekends

Talking stick is your best option but not the only one. There are a few other casino poker rooms to choose from with less of a range of games spread and number of tables (Fort McDowell just east of Scottsdale, and Gila River on the south end of the valley are the next best choices)...
Talking stick has a 50 table card room with plenty of round the clock low/med limit action...
3-6, 4-8, 8-16 limit pot raked, jackpot eligible games
20-40 and higher (with some mixed game options often) limit time raked, not jackpot eligible games

2-3 spread limit with min buy in of 100, max 300 with max bet of 300
3-5 spread limit with min buy in of 300 max 1000 with max bet of 500
and 5-10 spread limit runs limited to peak times with max bet of 500

Pretty much any day any time you will see 3-6 and 4-8 limit along with the 2-3 spread game... 8-16 and 3-5 run fairly regularly along with the 20-40 but are by no means around the clock games all week long

Hope that helps

Yes Casino AZ is your best bet if you want to play something besides 3/6 hold'em. See this thread for all the info you need: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/19...ale-az-758800/

The demo is a mix of whites, Asians, and Mexican men.

The law is simple, pay cash for drinks.

This is almost entirely true. Should you visit the Harrah's out in Maricopa, you'll earn comp points for play, and those points spend like dollars, even at the bar.

But yeah, there's no Vegas style free alcohol and the floor ain't gonna buy you a beer either.

Is this room open 24/7? And do they comp people hourly at the poker table
Arizona Quote
10-30-2012 , 05:10 PM
Which? Maricopa? They don't open until 9am, and they they shut-down when the games break in the AM. They comp a buck or two an hour in TR plus a reasonable number of Tier.

Got a chance to check the room out in Scottsdale...was quite impressed...action seems to be good...only played 2/3 so far might give 3/5 a shot...what do most people buy in for at 3/5? 500 or closer to 1000?

Most of the regs buy in full at $1000 but there are always shortstackers taking shots in that game! Best of luck

Talking Stick in Scottsdale has 4/8 LO8 pretty much all the time, and 8/16 LO8 often. Ft. McDowell in Fountain Hills has 20/40 LO8 and Stud 8 mix on Monday and Friday nights. I believe some casino on the SW side of town has 3/6 LO8, but I can't remember which, and I have never been there.

Hey guys, likely will be moving to Glendale from Dallas, TX.. Can someone tell me what my options are? I play mostly 2-5/5-10 NL.

The talking stick room seems pretty big, how many games of 2-3/3-5 run regularly? Any other rooms I should look into?

Thanks for any info!

being that you are out in Glendale, Wildhorse Pass would likely be closer but a lot more action is at Talking Stick. Just read a few pages from thread for answers to your question. I believe Pope answers this question just about every week.

What would I be doing at work if I wasn't answering the same questions every week?

Being in Glendale, the closest poker room to you would likely be Gila River Vee Quiva. I think Gila Riva Wild Horse Pass might be marginally closer than Casino AZ Talking Stick Resort, but hey, google maps would give you the answer.

Those are the only three that should be of any consequence to you.

I think Vee Quiva usually only gets low limit hold'em and Omaha games (4/8 usually biggest)

Wild Horse Pass will get some spread limit games, almost always a 2/100 game and usually a 3/300 game and rarely a 5/500 game.

Casino AZ almost always has 1 of each 2/3 (300) and 3/5 (500) games. During afternoon to evening hours 2/3 can have 5+ tables where 3/5 usually maxes out at 3 tables.

For the two Gila River rooms, they are on Bravo, so use www.bravopokerlive.com to take samples of what games are running their yourself to get a feel. Casino AZ is not on it, but will almost always have more games than what show up there.

I will be in Arizona in March at Springhill Suites Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall. Is Talking Stick the closest casino with a poker room and is there public transportation to get there other then a taxi? Thanks.

8 miles to Wild Horse Pass. 16 to Talking Stick. Taxi only.

When does that M/F Ft McDowell 20 OE game usually start and end? How's the action?
Is there a regular schedule for high limit mix or O8 games at arena?

Thx in advance.

As a new face, I am sure a 40 mixed would happily start for you anytime during regular hours at CAZ unless everyone is preoccupied at a higher limit for better reasons.

CAZ also sometimes gets a 20 mixed going. Best chance I think is on Sunday in the early afternoon, but it can randomly pop up on weekday evenings as well.
