Thank you. What do you think the average buy in is there? Percentage of regs vs others? Just trying to get a feel for how this game play compared to what I am used to in Detroit and what kind of hourly I can expect. There is a $1000 max in Detroit but most only buy in for $400-$500 unless you are a solid winning player so it doesn’t play all that deep most times. It’s also probably 80% regs and a bunch of old man coffees and nits. I’ve heard the games out in Arizona are different, not sure though.

I usually buy in for $1K, which is generally fine. You'll get the occasional max buy-in, you'll also get the occasional min buy-in. I would say average is $500-600 ish, maybe?

If you play there long enough, you know who all the regs are. Some regs are are good, some regs are horrible, and alot in between. I like Friday evenings the best. There's usually about 5 tables going, and it's easy to recognize what's a good table and what's not if you're familiar with the player mix. The games are especially good when things like the Phoenix Open, Barrett Jackson, Spring Training and other type events are in town.

there has never been $5/1 rake at Casino Az/TSR

It is $4 rake $2 promotional fund, occasionally it changes to $3/3 for a month or two

There is a sports betting bill going through the legislature. Seems like the big tribes that run casinos oppose it because it would allow sports betting kiosks in bars and restaurants, and they want all traffic to have to go to their casinos. And also they want sports betting to be done via the compact which I think would give them more leverage in terms of revenue or any other changes they want to make. The tribes that don't have big casinos support the bill because they want the additional revenue.

I think this bill is better for the players since you can bet at a bar vs having to go the casino but aside from that I don't see any other major distinctions, unless there are some long term effects due to the revenue sharing.

I assume the more monopolized it is, the worse the lines will be. I don't mine almost monopolies with regards to poker because you need a concentrated volume to support larger games, but that isn't the case here.

The current law grants tribes a monopoly on gambling in the state. Plan on some big lawsuits if the state tries to abrogate that agreement.

The line is the line. If it is worse (or better) than the industry standard, they will very quickly adapt or get pounded by knowledgeable players. If you actually meant juice/vig that will also be pretty standardized by copying Cris or Pinnacle as every state has so far.
Kiosks are also just for the bill or maybe the very beginning which IMO won’t be this year. You’ll soon be able to bet on your phone (in game) from your home or a stadium. Offshore sites are VERY successful with this relatively new form of betting. Right now, they are currently freerolling players 8-14 seconds before accepting the bet. If the next play on field favors the bettor, the bet is rejected. It’s like stealing!!

Are the satellites for the AZ State tourney held daily? I couldn't find a schedule on their website. Just curious if anyone has info or a working link to a schedule. Otherwise I'll call the casino tmrw. Thanks

I know single table sattys are going around the clock whenever they get a full table. Not sure about the super sattys.

They have started already? How much is the entry?

The single table satellites are $130 that pays a single winner, or $240 that pays two winners. 10 entrants per table. I won my seat on the first try, playing Saturday (rain or shine?)

Download the Bravo Poker app on your phone. You can see how many people are waiting to play. The sign up is always available, it's just a matter of getting 10 people to sign up.

I would have to guess one will get going as people bust out of the daily tournament, and when it's gets really busy in there. The Bravo app in invaluable.

Played one of these today. It was challenging because so many of the players were "inexperienced". Funny part was one of the fish telling me that there were a lot of good players at the table.

It's a relative, if you are used to playing with people who can't read a board, playing with bad regs who make jokes about hating AK and straddling at a tournament seem "good".

Navajo Gaming closes Twin Arrows in Flagstaff.

I suppose this means the State Gaming Commish does NOT have the authority to close the casinos?

also

The crowd at Desert Diamond West Valley Casino on Monday night was a far cry from the deluge of people when the expanded casino opened less than a month ago. But hundreds of people played slot machines and table games this week, not a rubber glove or mask in sight.

Yep, AZ casinos look like they are trying to be the last casinos open in the US.

And they probably don't fall into the restaurant and bar regulations either.
