Thanks. I didn’t realize that my location hadn’t reset. I don’t know what 0-0 10 handed Holdem means.

They do have a 4-8 list. Looks like it’s 12 miles from the hospital.

Del Sol does not use Bravo - it's on Poker Atlas, showing games running, wait lists, and you can get on the list through the app once you establish an account on Atlas.

Currently one 1-2 NLH, one 1-3 NLH, one 4-8 Big O and one 8-16 Big O running

Well, instead of moving to Henderson, it looks to be Tucson for us. Any experience with casinos down there? Casino del Sol - how is that, any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I played there recently for one night as I passed through town. The casino is very nice, and the room is pretty nice too. Soft but small games. 1/3nl was the biggest game running.

Yes, Tucson is slow for poker. If you want to play seriously or even semi-seriously, you need to drive north to Phoenix.

A lot of buzz that PLO is coming (likely Talking Stick first, then Gila River). 2/2 PLO would be fantastic!!

Yeah, there is one guy in the Casino AZ thread that is really pushing them on it and not letting it go that 'they aren't allowed to spread it'.

Since there's so many people begging for PLO why not all just sit at a "No Limit" table today and agree to limit your bets to the size of the pot.

lol omaha players agreeing on anything

1 someone would jack it up
2 everyone needs to be capable of calculating and tracking pot size

Yeah, people like to say "Pot" and let the dealer tell them what to bet.

I forgot how much I hate Lone Butte's pre flop rake policy. Service is terrible there too. Sucks cause they have a nice space for the poker room.

Casino Del Sol's new poker room location sucks. Back of the bingo hall and the A/C doesn't keep up, hot, muggy and cramped. Not sure why anyone would play at Lone Butte when Talking Stick is right up the road.

21.5 miles is right up the road?

They should just rake pre on the limit games, and change the NL games to post flop rake. Would bring in more players, and most importantly bigger games, which attracts the whales who dump heaps of money on the casino floor.

yes, that's like 15 minute drive in Phoenix.

Haven’t been to Lone Butte in a couple weeks due to work - they still requiring masks? If so, any rumors/indication on when they’ll rescind the mask requirement?

Also, did Talking Stick take down the plexiglass yet?

Yes, TS took down the plexiglass and masks are no longer required there. Don’t know about Lone Butte.

FYI if anyone is planning on playing the $500 200k at Lone Butte, they are capping entries for each day at 350.

Wanted to post a heads-up to any players who might be thinking of playing at Lone Butte for their "Player of the Year" promotion. The recent "Session" tournament, held on 5/7/2023, was a borderline scam.

For context, the POY system is fairly standard (see their Bravo page for more info). Daily tournaments take a promo cut and put it in a prize pool. Earn points by placing in daily tournaments. They hold "session" tournaments every 4 months, where the top 200 of that 4-month time period can play in an invite-only tournament for a portion of the promo fund. The first session tournament was ~45k guaranteed.

The scammy parts.. they charged $100 a player in "dealers' fees". This fee wasn't on the Bravo page until about 4 weeks out, as far as I know. Think about what entry fee tournament would command a $100 fee. The $1100 Wynn Classic events are $970 + $130, for example.

With the prize pool being 45k, and assuming about 200 entries, this basically is a ~$275 (225 + 50 approx standard live fees) tournament for the price of $100. So it seemed worth it to play because of the discount, despite the absurd fee. Still a far cry from what was presented as essentially an invitation-only free roll with a 45k prize pool.

But worse than that - they allowed unlimited "rebuys" through the 2nd break (level 6). I put rebuys in quotes because the $100 goes straight to the house, no addition to the pool. By the end of the rebuy period I believe there were over 250 entries, meaning the house took 25k back from the 45k, which was originally raked in promo fees to begin with.

Structure was also absurdly turbo-ish, with BB ante starting at level 2. People rebuying for 3.5BB at the end of the second break.

Anyway, if you like soft fields Lone Butte is cool. But the POY thing is a scam (assuming they don't fix it going forward - there were a ton of complaints and the TD seemed sympathetic).

If the $100 all went to dealers (and other staff, esp. non-mgmt staff) then the house still did not get any of those dollars.

As to the r3buys specifically, that is interesting. If it is a free role, then your buyin was zero, so the concept of a rebuy doesn’t have a meaning in my mind. Should be a freeze out imo.

I do admit I seldom play tournaments but vast majority of the tournaments I have played were free roles and I don’t recall any rebuy ones.

Yes, I should clarify that I equate the "dealers' fee" with house rake throughout, speculatively. Based on murmurs from dealers and staff, their take wasn't going up each time someone rebought. I have to assume, cynically, that they were taking the opportunity to refill the progressive POY pool fund.

And according to the Bravo page, they have made changes for the next session. It is now a $50 fee, freeze out, and "blind structures changed" lol..

Sounds like they got the message.
