Questions about the 8 game structure:

1. Is it triple draw + HORSE + NLHE + PLO? Or is it badugi + HORSE + NLHE + PLO? The limits on the site are BHORSE, not THORSE as I was thinking.
Also, PokerStars/WSOP's 8 game is triple draw + HORSE + NLHE + PLO.
Will tables be 6 handed? 8 handed? How often will the game change? Does it change on every rotation?

2. Could you explain the levels + break structure? I'm confused.
# The first four levels will last thirty (30) minutes.
# Levels 5 thru 8 will last (40) minutes.
# Levels 9 thru 12 will last (50) minutes.
# Levels 13 thru completion will last (60) minutes.
# Fifteen (15) minute break at the end of the first four (4) levels of play.
# Fifteen (15) minute break every three (3) levels of play; levels 5 thru 8.
# Fifteen (15) minute break every three (3) levels of play; levels 9 thru 12.
# Fifteen (15) minute break every two (2) levels of play; levels 13 to completion.

Is it break after levels 4, 7, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, etc..?

Thanks in advance.

PS: I wish the levels were a little longer earlier, but I think it will work. It's good the levels get longer as the tourney goes, but

Played and stayed first Time In Mid May. Loved the room. Only complaint was the food service asked twice for a menu but never came. Though the dealer was kind enough to guide me to the Food Cort at the other property.

Dealers were great and drink service good too

It is great that you both post here.

Question:
coming from the south (nice deal via NYNY), what is the easiest
way to the poker room on foot?

Looking foward to playing at Aria next weekend evenings. Do either
of you have routine hours you are on site?

best,
gary

Walk on strip......Enter Monte Carlo......Walk to the back and follow signs to Aria....Through their little hallway of shops and stuff...up the escalator through the doors......down the escalator.....in pokerroom

- Same question on the 2p2 party... my assumption is that a tourney buy-in would count the same as your answer to the above and the cash games there are treated as normal cash games?

Oh, and put me down for another vote for 9-handed tables.
Kramer,

-If you are staying 3 nights your hours played is an average over those days. As long as you accumulate the required hours you are good. You can play 15 hours in one day if you want.
-A tournament buy-in receipt from the ARIA Classic counts for the rate. Just show Kat the receipt and you will be ok.
-If you show up to the 2+2 party you will also receive the rate.

And you are +1 on 9 handed.

Gary,

NYNY is easy. Simply walk the strip past Monte Carlo and take a left into City Center/ARIA. I have been on site just about everyday from 10 or 11am until ???????? Kat is here from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Lozen,

Sorry about that. We are in the process of finalizing a poker menu that will make everything more efficient and CHEAPER!!! Our property has recognized the value all of you bring to us and they have decided to make the food options more affordable. Thank you F&B. Please come see me the next time you come to town and we will talk about the food service you received.

Thanks,
Adam

Unknown,

We took a step back and looked long and hard at our structures. Our first attempt was to be innovative and bring something new to the table that would give players value while in town for the WSOP. Through responses on this thread and private messages I have received we have re-vamped our structures.

It is very important for me to get across to this community that we care about your input and we listen. Our new structures should be up on our website today or tomorrow http://www.arialasvegas.com/casino/poker.aspx. As of right now they have not been updated. We basically made them a little less confusing, adding starting stack and level time value, along with more playing time at the final table.

We really appreciate everyone's feedback.

Thank you,

Adam

The reality, and I've played tons in Cali and Vegas both, is that the short-handed fear is MORE pronounced in Vegas. 6-handed out of 9 is less threatening to the nits than 6-handed out of 10. 9-handed games, I believe (can't say I've seen a study on it) break tougher than 10-handed.

Like most things in most places in the world, 10-handed games are the norm in Vegas because their the norm. It isn't any deeper than that. And going against the norm is psychologically difficult for the mediocre minds of the world.

Is the 2x and 3x during off peak hours on comps promo still going on? Or did this end on June 1st?

i have to issue a word of appreciation to the staff at the aria poker room. i played a couple days there this past week and really had a good overall experience.

here are some of the things i liked:
- helpful friendly staff (jessica was texting people for the plo game who had been there earlier in the week)
- willing to listen a player who was playing in the room for the first time
- started an interest list for a game they've never spread before (mixed plo / nl) as the plo list was taking some time to get enough players (thanks jessica)
- comfy chairs
- proficient, friendly dealers (for the most part)
- i believe one of the managers comped my brinner (is a meal at 3am dinner or breakfast?), cuz the price said $24 and i'm sure i didn't have enough points on my card
- willingness to bend the rules for a certain game (allowing a button straddle in plo -- i threw it out there one time and the table just played along.....we did later get confirmation from ari that it was ok for that night -- thanks ari).

one minor criticism:
- maybe a quick re-train for the dealers on how pot limit games work. a few were not on the ball for determining how much a pot sized raise would be.

overall, very nice room.

I was part of a 3-handed mixed game playing 200-400 LHE. The Aria was kind enough to host us for a mere $21 per half hour (7 each). However, they refused to let us play in Ivey's room. They supposedly made a call and were told that we weren't playing high enough. We informed the floor, "but we're playing the highest limit game anywhere in Vegas tonight." (which was true, we were in touch with other high limit players in other rooms) So how high do we have to play? 1000-2000. Fair enough... 3 guys with a combined 80k on the table, double that in our pockets, but that's not enough for Ivey's room. Seemed a little silly to me. Isn't that what you want? People to look through those glass doors and see 3 guys playing with enough money to buy several automobiles.

Meh?

But I like Aria. Good dealers, floors, cashiers, cocktails, etc. Just would have been cool to play in Ivey's room. I do wonder how often that room will be used outside the 50 days of WSOP.

this is awesome news, as I just came to this thread to complain about having to play 10 handed. As long as Aria stays at 9-handed, it will be my default local room. That equates to 5 or 6 days a week.

Aria is doing a great job with eveything else, and Leon and Jessica are both awesome floor people.

I will be in town June 28 to July 8 look forward to playing more at your room
(I have played briefly on two previous trips). I think 9 handed will be much better and the room will be nice. I look forward to meeting Adam and his staff at the 2+2 party. I think the comp rate is great, I normally play at the V but
I want to give Aria a chance. I love the property and I have been very impressed with the responsiveness to questions and suggestions on this forum.
I think that if you keep this up you may need to expand the size of the room.

Adam or Kat - quick question re the end of the Aria classic - is it true that both the 1pm and 7pm tournaments will *not* run on the 16th and 17th? I'm planning a trip from the 16th to the 19th and need to decide which day to play an Aria tournament... Thanks in advance!

Kat - been playing at Aria. Love most of the dealers, love the comps, love the floor, love the drinks.

I was there Friday night and the room was at capacity.

The poor woman at the podium was working solo. She was filling seats, answering questions, attending to tables, collecting racks, clearing empty glasses, etc... all by herself.

There were two chip runners, but only one cage position open and a long line.

Why so understaffed during prime time?

I was there at the beginning of the week and played for three days.
We loved the hotel and restaurant.
I have some criticism about the poker room, which overall is very good.
- too crowded with tables too close apart
- 10 players at the table makes it uncomfortable especially since there are no drink slots and the glasses and bottles are sitting on the table taking up valuable real estate.
- The drink table they use, take up space, are dirty and if you do not pay attention, your glass disappears even if you do not finish it.
-The dealers, for the most part are good but they do not interact with players (for some this is a good thing)
I am sure all these can be worked out.

Haha I might be the only one that likes 10 handed, but then I'm a nit. But only if the table is large enough and the people small enough. Otherwise it's terrible.

Were there cup holders in the tables? I can't remember when I played there (it seemed to be loud, too).

No cup holders, and very few rolling tables. It's not a room designed for 10-handed.
