The original or the second one? I see he has a new book coming out this year..................................The first- my opinion is the two books do build off each, from 1st to 2nd.

Thinking of staying at Aria this summer toward the end of the series. First time in Vegas.

1. How big does the 1/3 plo game play? Any different during WSOP?

2. What is the poker room rate/what are the requirements?

It's a rather tame game. Think It is still 500max but no straddling
The 2/5/Rock is great though.

the 1/2 has a 5 dollar bring in
90 pct of the players never raise preflop
nobody 3 bets non-aces pre
definitely tame
good game to get bombed in

Just a note of the service I received today. Bought a rack of red, and some blacks in an additional rack from cage. Guy didn’t count them just put them in rack and I walked 3 steps to the table directly in front of cage/Ivey room. I got started unstacking my reds, noticed a stack was short $5. Went to cage and told cashier who immediately says nope my stacks are good! Then his buddy try’s to say maybe you dropped it walking to table. I said highly unlikely as it’s 3 steps away from the cage, and I had another rack with blacks on top. Guy keeps telling me I dropped it. I go tell a floor guy at the Comp computer I think? He says he will look into it and never got back to me. Then upon cashing out same cashier (name withheld) makes a joke if I ever found my $5. So obviously the monetary amount of the chip is not relevant, but the lack of follow through by floor staff and crappy interaction with cage worker, I will not be returning to play poker here regularly.

You should tweet at or email one of the managers there.

That's so dumb. Why risk alienating a customer over $5?

I noticed on Bravo that a “2-5 Big O” game was going on Fri, 2/19, with one table and 10 people on the list. Is this a “real” Big O game with the traditional Hi / Lo split pot format? The game is $2/$5 - is that in limits, pot limit, of no limit? Is this a regular game that is spread? Very exciting to see a game like this to hopefully continue at Aria!

Thanks,
Andrew

Yeah it’s high low. It’s pot limit. I’m not local but it used to be at Wynn on a certain day in the before times. I assume they just moved it to Aria.

Andrew Neeme recently posted a video of him playing in the 1/2 PLO game at the Aria that showed $40 triple straddles. Has this game changed that much over the last year, or is this an anomaly? I can’t recall much straddling in this game before at all.

I agree it’s likely, but why obvious?

For what it's worth, I played in the 1-2 aria plo game recently, and it was pretty tame. Fairly deep stacks (average stack was around $500), but at an 8 person table, avg table composition was 4-5 old nits with lowish vpips and very low pfrs, 1-2 action players that would quickly get bored with the table and leave, and then 1-2 tight regs. Stacks weren't often in danger. Maybe there's some sort of effect where you're either on vacation and don't mind YOLO spinning up $1k at the 2-5 rock game, or you're too intimidated by the four cards to play PLO at all. Might just not be very many people in the middle.

Played both saturday and sunday around 3-6pm. I'm sure it gets a bit crazier at night, obviously YMMV. I had more fun at the caesar's 1-3 NLHE game around this timeframe

$500 is a deep stack for that game? Oof, seems like a horrible game.

$100-500 buyin 1/2 5 to go game I play usually has multiple players over $1k within an hour of the game starting, and that's a lot of old people who don't know PLO.

Probably will end up playing the 2/5 rock game.

The conditions of that game vary widely. Most of the time. You’ll have a couple of people $1k+. I was fortunate enough to run up a $5k stack in that game a few weeks ago.

Hi... I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend and stayed at Aria. The poker room was extremely busy. The 1/3 NL list routinely reached 70+ deep mid-day. Even when the list was more manageable and in the 20-30 persons range, the wait for a table was still 2-3 hours. It was very frustrating.

There were a number of empty tables (i.e., ones with no games or dealers) during these extremely busy periods. I asked why and was told that Aria was trying to hire more dealers, but was having trouble.

Despite the long cash game lists, Aria was still running daily tournaments, which took up a number of tables and dealers. My own two-cents is that the dailies should have been suspended during the busy holiday rush of visitors, but I'm not a poker room manager. Still, I wonder if the cash games will be more accessible now that the holiday has passed.

Some years they have put in an overflow area with an extra 12 or so tables during WSOP. Aria has always hand a higher demand vs supply in peak hours than the average room in LV. Bellagio has a bit more capacity so if the list is too long there might be a shorter wait there. It is a 15 walk and they spread most of the same games.

True enough... The lists at Bellagio were shorter. Had I been on my own, I probably would have opted to play there.

My experience with the wait lists at Aria was not entirely unique for this trip. On past visits, the room has had long lists, even if they were not quite as bad as during this past holiday weekend.

I've often wondered why Aria doesn't expand the room a little. That slot machine area opposite the entrance does not look all that busy to me, and the seats at those slots seem to be used more by those waiting for the poker room than by slot players. I'm sure there's a good reason, but it is just not apparent to me.

Slots makes more money than poker, and a bored poker player waiting to play poker while sitting at a slot probably makes more money than a poker player sitting at a poker table.

Anyone know if Aria still has poker room rates available? A bit worried even if they do if the room has super long wait lists, although looking to play PLO.

Back in Vegas for 2 months for the WSOP and cash games. I'm vaccinated and still support the mask mandate that has allowed all the poker rooms to remain open, and I've been very disappointed the past couple of weeks to see that Aria is still not enforcing mask wearing. Most of the dealers are pretty good about reminding players, but plenty of players still refuse to mask up. Their "loophole" is that they have a drink or food sitting nearby, so they think that entitles them to go without a mask the whole time they're at the table, and some are bragging about not getting the vaccine. Floor people just laugh about it, and won't enforce it. And tonight, even the poker room supervisor wasn't even wearing his mask (I went to the desk 3 times, and he wasn't wearing it any of those times). I know Aria got fined last year during the first round of restrictions, and I don't doubt that they will again. There are plenty of other poker rooms in town that are adhering to state law, so I guess I'll be taking a break from Aria.
