What, if anything, is the formula for getting a poker rate on rooms? I'd probably be in town the first couple of weeks in July, and I'd be interested in staying on a weekend.

Thanks.
Hugh,

All you have to do to get the poker rate is play 5 hours a day in our room. Currently the rate is $99 Sunday-Thursday and $139 Friday and Saturday. Kat will be more than happy to help you with your reservation.

I look forward to more posts about this, and can't wait to play there on my next LV trip.
But hundreds of us want to know the same thing. If he really wanted input, he would conduct a poll.

My conclusion is, it is for real and I dont think we need to put the coffee station in at this point. However, with me nothing is set in stone on the service side (If it makes things better I will adapt) and the coffee station may pop its head up some day.

Truth is, we want to keep our cocktail servers busy and tipped during slow cocktail drinking times.

Probably has as much to do with the coffee place that is right next door to the poker room.

Can we get an answer to the question about the ivey room? Is it commonly in use and is phil usually there?

Kat
Not for nothing but charging for Wi Fi is so cheap, the super 8 gives free wi fi. Charging for Wi Fi should be a thing of the past.

It was answered - they don't want to reveal who was there and when, which I appreciate. Ivey has been there in the past and will likely be there in the future.

I've been there around 5 times over the past month, usually on Friday or Saturday. I've seen it active maybe 2 or 3 times and when there is something going on it seems to break early in the night. Think I saw $100/200 NLHE a few weeks ago and a dealer was telling me that that was lower than usual. Last Saturday after the Ivey tourney there was a mixed game going with blinds 3000/6000 and then later 1500/3000 from what I was told. Broke by 11pm.

Cocktail service is excellent, agreed. I just like to make my own coffee because I want it exactly right and exactly when I want it and would rather get a 1/2 cup every 1/2 hour than a full one ever single hour and, especially, want it to be decaf when I want decaf. Unless I pour it myself, I have no way of knowing what it is, and yes, waitstaff spaces out and routinely pours regular on autopilot.

But the room is NOT understaffed for servers (unlike the V, where the servers are good but too busy), and you do have Red Bull (in a can if you want) and decent house wines. And having the 24-hour CVS so close by comes in handy, too. Parking is pretty convenient, as well. Fatburger right across the street.

Many things are good about Aria. Just, the tables are crazy too small for 10-handed. And 10 handed makes for slightly tighter and slower games, so I'm not sure why switching to 9-handed with it's increased number of pots (and thus drops) per hour would be resisted.

A poker room needs to set a groundbreaking trend by posting its live action board online. It seems that live poker is stuck in a bygone era. It is cumbersome to call or to visit the poker room each time one is interested in playing. I cannot be the only person who feels this way.

Is anything close when you are at Aria? If you were to start at the poker room and walk to Fatburger it would probably take 25 minutes at the least.

Not all poker pros or big limit players want their business all over the net. If you do that why not post all the Blackjack players wins and loses too.

They need to respect the privacy of the players, if the player wanted to post the win loss of their session they can post it in a blog. They are not playing for the railbirds entertainment, it isn't like they all have sponsorships.

I would bet that most players online wish that their sessions were kept private.

lololol

I don't think he means $$ + or - in a session for an individual but rather a current list of what games are being spread and how many people are on the wait list.

Ok I can see that, I misunderstood the question I think.
But this would also be a mistake, you want the people to have to come to the casino, why would you ever want them to be able to get on their cell phone go to a web page and see that the game they want to play is not offered or the list is long, now they go to the next casino, they don't offer this service so you must come in, the same game has a list but there is another game going you might as well play as you wait.

Hi Kat,
This is from my personal experience of playing at Aria as a local:

The room is extremely nice. Burgundy table felt with very comfortable chairs. The tables are large and well spread apart. I found the tables to be a good mix of casual players with a few local pros - depending on the time of day. I usually play 2/5, and 5/10 and the mix was pretty even on all games. Dealers all very experienced. They all have good personalities and keep the game flowing. Management, with their computer system, the player list was very organized and I am always seated quickly. Also, when playing 5 handed or less, they never hesitated to reduce or remove the rake.

A+++++

Is the poker rate only for the deluxe rooms or can it be prorated to suites and such?

Ok... 15 minutes maybe? The point is just cuz it's right across the street doesn't mean it's close. Aria is set WAY back from Las Vegas Blvd. Once you get out to the Strip you can't just cross the street right in front of Aria as there is no cross walk. You have to walk all the way down to Rue de Monte Carlo which is by Diablo's Cantina. Then you cross the Strip and have to backtrack to Fatburger. Trust me, I've done a lot of walking to and from Aria and nothing is close when you're going to or leaving that place.
