No one has any authority in that pokerroom. They're all just bots. No Autonomous Humons.

FWIW most room do not give you any credit for tournament play. The juice you pay for 4 - 6 hours of play doesn't amount to much. The Venetian has a special rate for the Deepstacks, but those are $300+ tournaments.

The best poker rate system I've found is at the Wynn. You make your reservations via the poker room. When you've played your hours, you're all set. Just check out, no muss, no fuss.

I just stayed two nights at Aria.

Did the hours, got the $99 a night room rate.

No problems, good action!

I just saw something on JRB's twitter about a 200-400 mix that is played there every day. Just curious what games are played in that mixed game?

I believe the "standard" mix is H.O.S.E. + Badugi + 2-7 Triple Draw + 50/100 NL 2-7 Single Draw with a 10K cap

Hi, I'm back! Sorry about the long delay between responses. I have been overloaded with work (which I guess is a good thing), and am making my response to this thread a priority. I will do my best to respond by every Tuesday.

Poker rate is $99 Sun-Thu and $139 Fri-Sat. qualify by 5 hours of cash game play OR play in one of our $125 daily or nightly tournaments

Kat, this was not my experience. See my post #222 above.

I did play the $125 tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday night, a not previouly comped night, but was still not given the poker rate for that night.

Anythng you can do? It was October 30. I can PM you if you can correct this on my bill for me and that would be appreciated.

Kat,

I have either missed it or it hasn't been asked yet, but how many people do you normally get for your daily and nightly tournaments?

The Daily has been lately getting anywhere from 35-95 players (highest numbers on the weekends), and the Nightly 30-55 players

I received in the mail a promotion for three free nights at the Aria. I was heading in the Wednesday before Halloween and was told they could only give me two nights (Wednesday and Thursday) because the offer was not good for weekends. Rate for Friday and Saturday would be $169/night. I asked if I could get the poker rate for those nights of $129 and was told yes.

I played cash for about 5 hours or so Wednesday night, the $120 7 p.m. tournament on Thursday night and the tourney on Saturday night, as well. I tried to go by there on Saturday night to arrange the poker rate and might was well have been talking to a brick wall. Was ultimately told by floor manager "Just ask at checkout, they never give anyone a hard time about it."

So when I checked out Sunday morning, the girl at the front desk calls over and is told I don't qualify for the poker rate for even one night because I played mostly on the days I already had comped.

Now, let me be clear, I can't really understand the logic of this because I would have just altered my dates of play. And, based on the action I gave them, I would have been perfectly fine with getting the poker rate for even just one of the two nights.

What irked me was that no one mentioned this before checkout. I don't think it was intentional or anything, just annoying the way it was handled.
Hi Joansing,

Thank you for the post and apologize for the inconvenience during your time of checkout. I will be happy to help and research the issue - I sent you a PM. Thanks Kat

I'm going to be in town over New Years and I wondered if the mixed games were still going at the Aria. I played a 4/8 Mixed game last year around this same time. Would prefer 4/8 up to 10/20 or 20/40. Do these game still go? What mix do they play?

As per our shift managers, we have spread 4-8 mix very irregularly in the past few months, perhaps once and a while on the weekends. Our 9-18 mixed game runs most regularly (4-5 times per week). mix is Omaha8, Stud8, Razz/Dugi, Crazy Pineapple8, Baduecye, Badacey, and 2-7 tripple draw

Do you have any estimates as to how long the tourneys usually last?

Also are there any restrictions for the room rate? Is the rate valid 365 days a year?

Daily tournaments usually run about 6-7 hours, Nightly tournaments run about 5-6 hours.

There are different room rates depending upon the day of the year you wish to visit. There is always a poker room rate, the price just may vary. Please check with us in advance to get the room rate for the dates in question.

Thanks,
Kat

Please refresh my memory...

Baduecye is Badugi/2-7 split?
Badacey is Badugi/A-5 split?
And I assume Razz/Dugi is a Razz/Badugi split? Never heard of it before.

I'll be in Vegas in 11 days and would to play this mix (but it helps knowing the rules first!)

Thanks in advance!

yes, yes, and yes. Side point: as these are new games, the question of what to do with the odd chip isn't standard yet. At the higher limits, some of us are trying to spread the standard that the extra chip (in a split pot) goes to the 2-7 hand as it is the "parent" game. That is, 2-7 is a 5 card game, badugi is a 4 card game, so this is "2-7 with a twist" and the best 2-7 hand gets the odd chip. Similarly, in razzdugi, the razz hand gets the odd chip.

What started this is they were giving the odd chip to the worst position. This clearly favors bad players and can also create some inequitable situations. SO!!!! if it comes up, odd chip in a split pot goes to the deuce hand. Fight for it.
