Has anyone seen the $2 snack mix they have been serving? Tim was walking around selling them off a tray. The guy next to me told me to help myself as he touched his chips and then would lick his fingers after he ate some of it. It was also all over his shirt. =/

I was thinking of regularly playing the 4/8 game as the skill level seemed basically as low as the 3/6 but the rake hits you a bit less. Do they regularly run anything between 4/8 and 8/16 and how is the skill level in those?
Someone please explain to me why a particular limit being considered a "donkfest" is a bad thing? If you perceive the "skill level" to be "low" you avoid that limit and look to play higher with "better players"?

Is this a higher level of thinking than I am capable of? Is this why I fit in so well at 3/6 and 4/8? Move up to where they respect your play/raises/bluffs?

You'll never see me complain that a game is a donkfest but there are quite a few I know who can't stand it bec they don't like to put so many chips at risk. My view is that in order to make money you have to be at risk and the more there is in the pot the better.

They are still taking $2 BBJ. Hardly anybody seems to notice except for the few of us who think we know a little something. I now tip each dealer $1/down, some $2. I have the stones to do that and I'm going to keep it up if they don't drop the BBJ drop down later on.

Frankly, I don't think it's worth playing at CAZ at any limit lower than 8-16 because of it.

I disagree with this. The lower the game, the tighter you need to play. The less pots you win, the less rake you pay. If the game is small yet it sees 7 players per flop, you can still overcome the rake pretty easily.

They were running a 30/60 game earlier this week.

Did I imply that a game being a donkfest was bad? I said I wanted to play in the 4/8 because the skill was just as bad as 3/6 but the rake would bite a little less. Donks = profits, even in no fold em hold em games if you apply a "Small Stakes Hold em" type strategy.

I've sat in three 8/16 games in a row that were not worth playing because they were all nits or TAGs. I had one guy 3-bet me and fold to a 4bet which tells me even random guys are thining and making high level plays. May it was one of us.

There is a 6/12 game that is usually good but I don't see any reason to play those instead of nl.

Well, my old local cardroom gave 3pts/hr for 1/2 nl or 10/20 LHE; which we could spend on Panera, Dunkin Dounts, gas cards, grocery store cards, sears cards, Ipods for my family at Christmas, CPK... I basically didn't pay for food, coffee, or gas for a year.

This is the only area of the country where it seems like $2 BBJ is standard. I know it's $2 at CA, Gila, and Harrahs. (What is it at the Fort?) I'm sure they made it that way because all you ever hear from the low limit players is "What promotions are going on? Promotions? Give Promotions plz. More promotions. We want more promotions." It really took some getting used to when I moved down here a few years back. It's strange but the low limit players are ravenous about their blessed promotions and would probably be in favor of a $4 BBJ drop if there was a $50 splash pot every hour on every table.

They're the parents of the online players who like higher rakes because they get more rakeback.

I'm not sure why you think this? I've been playing at CAZ for 5 years or so. In my early days I was there 5 days a week, then a few times a month for a couple of years, and now I average about 1.5 days/week. I don't have a ton of experience with the day servers, but I'm pretty good friends with a bunch of the swing/overnight girls.

Yeah, is this not the most annoying thing in the world? I'd bitch about this constantly if I worked there.

It's SUPER good. Everyone I know that has tried it has loved it. Order it from a server that likes you, and you'll get a ton of it.

It's probably because we play different shifts, I just didn't remember you being a reg in the 10 before last year. And maybe the nite/swing servers are better, I haven't noticed either way other than certainly Tim is. And it's not just me, the consensus has been among players I've played with for years from 6-12 and up that there is are bunch of servers with bad attitudes.

Yeah. When the bet limit was raised to 500, I definitely increased my frequency of CAZ attendance I'm not sure who you are, so feel free to come say hello if you see me so I can put a face to the sn. I promise not to tell any servers how bad you think they are heh

(same goes for anyone else, if you know me come by and introduce yourself, I always enjoy meeting 2p2ers*)

I'm not sure I get it Howard. The dealers have no say in the amount the house charges for the drop, and I don't think the house will care if you tip 1 dollar a down or 20. I just don't think it will help your goal of lowering the bbj drop. Honestly I don't see any way they'll lower it. The vast majority of Phoenix players are just too promotions oriented.

It's got nothing to do w/ convincing the house. Im tipping less bec the extra dollar is huge to me and it's the only variable I control until I can get myself back to the 20-40. I've also adjusted my strat, of course, but I'm not going to go into that.

IMO, there is only one reason for there to be a BBJ and that is that it increases traffic in the room. You are right, many of the players absolutely love the promotions but they are clueless about the cost. And I'm comfortable discussing the topic on here bec 'they' certainly aren't reading this and they wouldn't care even if they were.

Ok, for some reason I thought you were trying to influence the dealers to influence the house. Nevermind.

I remember when I moved to AZ and was told the BBJ drop was "One and one at 30." and everyone acted like it was completely normal. I was like... say what now? Why not just pull a gun on players as they walk in?

You realize next time you win the Jackpot this means you'll have to tip the dealer extra huge, don't you?

lol at me hitting the jackpot. Whenever it gets mentioned at the table the dealer invariably says 'It's been 5 years since I dealt a jackpot' that's what they all say. The jackpot gets hit approx 100 times/year so somebody's dealing them, just not any of the dealers that I ask.

Sighhh. I'm 2/6 now. Only stuck $2K after last night, and even on the month at all CAZ venues combined. I was coolering people left and right last night so I feel like I have my old mojo back though

OK I officially LOVE the new room now.

LOL

It might have something to do with me final tabling the "Last Saturday of the Month" tourney today.

Unfortunately, as usual, the entire final table wanted to chop it, and I come back from a short break to find out the other 9 have already agreed to it... so I sighed and agreed too. Probably a good move since the blinds were ridiculously huge after 6 hours of play and it would've been an all-in luckfest. I was probably a top-3 stack at that point, but there wasn't really anyone who was super short. I still wish people would leave a little bit of the prize fund for the winner and play it out, just so I could say I won the thing. Can't really complain tho, this tourney has been one that has befuddled me, had only cashed in it once before... Love the new room!!!!!!

I was told a story by our dealer (dunno if its true or not) when I played some cash on opening day... about a brand new dealer who dealt not one, but TWO jackpots on his very first day of work. LOL Crazy if true... might have been at another casino, not really sure if it was CAZ.
