2-3 and 3-5 spread omahi HI went last night, the 3-5 is a 500 cap just like the 3-5 holdem game...there isnt a difference, variance is huge in this game, one guy bought in for 1k and cashed out ~6.5k. The game should hopefully run pretty regularly, it went for about 9 hours. (8pm till about 5am)

spread the word!

Could be a new change since yesterday though.
yeah you're right, I meant you can open raise to whatever, $300 would be the max I guess at 2/3.

I never got in the game, it looked ok with a fair amount of young guys who probably knew what they were doing. Railed it for like 3 minutes, watched AAxxds value bet top set in a smallish pot... I'm guessing the 3/5 plays way way bigger than the 2/3.

It's probably their way of checking for drunks. Considering how much drinking goes on at CAZ, it's a very good idea, imo. The first time I went there, I couldn't believe the number of drunk poker players. It far exceeded anything I ever saw in Vegas, and considering there's no public transport to CAZ and nobody walked there...

It does appear that this is a way to do a DUI check - I knew right away.

Anyway, I didn't have anything to worry about but just a word to the wise - be careful out there, and be aware of this.

Exactly. IN theory they are supposed to have reasonable suspicion to pull you over before checking if you are drunk. Unless you live in some kind of police state where they set up checkpoints.

I get tourney table change last night, sit down and begin chatting. Talk turns to online and rigged. I tell them I ran the gamut in my years of play - first I was clueless, then I began to feel it was rigged, then I began to play live and found the same stupid crap happening, so I no longer believe its rigged, just a stupid game.

So second hand I see 77 in hijack, I make a speech, "too short to do anything but shove... but nobody can call my bet without a real hand..." Button immediately calls me, blinds fold and he flips 44.

"Ok", I said, "watch this now, we're going to see what a stupid game this is, flop will prob come 446"

Flop 4xx... Turn 4. GG.

Table laughs. I say "Poker's not my game, I ought to be a psychic instead."

Cool story brah... It IS a stupid silly game that we love... all we can do is laugh.

Do everyone a favor and save the speeches for your kitchen home games. It's boring and lame plus wastes time. There's already a high number of inexperienced players slowing things down. Just ship it and save the rhetoric.

In Summary...

Is the spread-Omaha being played as pseudo-NL or pseudo-PL?

Either way, more details would be appreciated.

I haven't played it, but from what I can tell, there is no PL in it. Simply spread limit. They had the 2/3 game going last night, but I didn't even stop by to watch it.

Currently in San Diego for work and for anyone looking for some good high stakes action... I was at Oceans 11 last night and they had a 10/20 NL game going and ended up getting two tables... from what I could tell the action was pretty good and lots of money on the table... the 5/5 games was interesting and very wild and players seemed less knowledgable then than average 3/5 at CAZ...

just thought i would spread the word..

You "real" poker players take the game far too serious. The speech was after I had completed my rapid shove action. Yes it was a bad beat story but my table found it pretty hilarious and I thought I'd share it for laughs. I won't make the mistake of trying to entertain others on here again.

Sorry for wasting your obviously too-valuable time, sir.

Now get back to being deadly serious. I DEMAND IT!

anyone played in the AZ Champ Tourney before? Thoughts?

Do they run a lot of low-buyin type sats to it?

Yes I played the last two years... This sunday is the super satellite but they will be running single table SnG's all the way up to the day and during each of the Day 1's....

Check out the Talking Sticks website as it actually is pretty nice and provides lots of good information...

FYI.. Last year I also bought a seat on Day1A from a regular for $800...

I heard a rumor that the food vouchers are coming out of the jackpot drop. How does that make you feel?

That doesn't sound legal.

But if it were me, I'd feel better about being able to get something out of the jackpot drop, because I'm sure never winning any part of it.

I don't think the Compaqs or ADOG regs really care about poker.

I thought the JP was creeping up at a slow rate but attributed it to the spinning wheel.

Arizona, hosing the poker players before it was popular.

I'm really happy to be playing time raked games.

Get the benefit of the football pools and the vouchers without being screwed over it.
