Not having antes gives you more strategic options like folding the blinds and getting a round of free hands.

I have only been to the new casino one time since it opened up and happened to see this thread as I was looking through other threads. It seems as if poker really has died at the casino if it is true there is only 2-5 games of 3-5 spread and maybe 1 5-10 game going. I remember when I use to go esp on Friday or Saturday sometimes you would have to wait an hour just to get on the 3-5 and hours for the 5-10. I was planning on starting to go back a few times a week but if its anything like people are explaining I won't be there for long. Can someone confirm if this is really the case and how many tables are usually going on weekdays and weekends. I thought for sure when I started going back it would be more then ever since black Friday. Thanks for any replies.

What did you think was going to happen when they went to 3-5-500? They had a bunch of games, then they had fewer games and it'll likely be even fewer in a year or 2.

I didn't think all the action would die. I didn't think moving the max bet up would get rid of everyone. Even if that is the case where did all the 5-10 players go? Also you would think the 3-5 players would go to the 1-3 or whatever it is that I think is there now. Like I said I haven't been in about a year but I didn't think all the players would be ran out. There were alot of regular 5-10 players and 3-5.

Big Bet poker is disastrous for the poker economy hence the room managers spreading so many limited buy-in games in order to try and limit the damage. There was hardly any of it before The Boom and there is a reason for it. I suppose there will always be some games since it's so popular but you're not going to get the games you once had. I've been reading on here for the past couple of years that the online games had gotten much tougher and it's for the same reason: the bad players go broke too fast in NLHE.

I used to see the same thing you did: Many 3-5-150 games, then quite a few of the 3-5-500 games but I knew what was supposed to happen would happen eventually. IIRC there used to be 2 5-10 games w/ a list. Now CAZ struggles to get one. So we'll wait a year or two and see what happens.

Is there any 20-40 or 40-80 limit games going on a regular?

You've got the double whammy of snow birds being in Michigan and pros being in LV right now. With that I'm actually impressed to see 40-80 and multiple 3-5 games going on any given Tuesday.

That reminds me of an rgp poster called "Mason Malmuth" in 2003.

Blinds were at 30k/60k I think and we chopped 7 ways. Had previously done a "save" with 14 players left.

20/40 has been going very strong. It usually starts around 11am or so, and a 2nd game picks up in the afternoon, and sometimes a 3rd game gets going on busy evenings.

40/80 or 75 usually goes during the day, but it could be mixed, short handed, etc. It is even more hit or miss during the WSOP.

While I may agree w/ your point on NLHE, the fact is ALL games were getting tougher online, and I think lhe was just as bad off, if not more so online. The fact remains that people want to play NL and you can't just convince them to play a game that they find more boring, even though most limit players will say NL is more boring because you have to fold a whole lot more on every street (at least I do).

I dunno who ninja-deleted the RGP reply, well actually I suspect I do. The archives are awesome because you see Sklansky-Malmuth yelling at people like Daniel Negreaneau before anyone had heard of them.

What my post referred to was Malmuth explaining why nlhe was bad for card rooms because the fish went broke too quickly. As evidence he offered the fact that there were no card rooms that spread nlhe.

So a certain person was playing in the 20/40 game on sunday, and after he left (ahem, contributed $1600) he came and sat in my 4/8 game. I listened to him complain about losing in the 20/40 (something about 8's killing him there) and I wasn't sure if I believed him. I went over and spoke the floor (the lady who's short, short blond hair, sorry I can't remember her name) and she lol'd when I pointed out the guy. I made the comment that the waitlist must be 15 people long when he's in the game and she smiled, politely nodded, and we went back to our business. Congrats to whoever was in that 20/40--he only dusted off $200 at my table.

Meh, I won 6.5 racks at 20/40 on Sunday...but I don't remember anyone who fits the bill of jumping down to 4/8 and complaining, most people in the game were people who play 20/40 all the time. He must've been playing at the must move table.

Anyone been to Wild Horse in Chandler, Arizona? Visited it when seeing a buddy. Made a video. Didn't stay long had a tee time to make. Threw $100 on a BJ hand as I walked out of the casino. Sweated 5 cards and a dealer bust.

Maverick I think is now posting as popinjay. It's really silly now to see how unusual it is to have a poker-related post. It shows how bad moderation >>> no moderation.

Also, congrats to anyone who happens to have been in any cash game with me the last couple weeks. Don't spend it all in one place.

Yeah, they run a 2/5 game with a $250 max raise/bet. It only runs around 5pm on weekdays though. The highest limit game they have is 8/16. Its alright if you live really close to it, but CAZ is much better overall.

Curious others opinions of regulars/friends at the same table using friendly conversation to needle and pick on other players with a goal of tilting them or controlling the table?

Example: (3 friends on the same side of the table annaylising a players play after the hand is over loud enough for the player to hear but not directly talking to that person.)

Just curious cause I am usually on the side that anything that is legal in poker should be used to get an advantage but I felt bad for a couple before because it felt like bullying...

I play limit and nearly every big pot hand gets 'analyzed' w/ the analysis often being hysterical. 'I didn't raise my AA pf bec I knew nobody would go out, hahahahaha', 'yeah, nobody is going to fold and you're not a favorite against everybody, hahahahahaha, 'And I didn't like the 3-3-2 flop bec somebody had to have a 3, hahahahahaha'.............

They can't help themselves, it's not always bullying or trying to tilt a player it's just the culture at CAZ and prob many other rooms as well.

I know I give up something but there are times when I simply HAVE to put on the headphones.
