Zero of course.

Since I can feel a sick brag coming regardless... why don't you tell us how many letters you have after the "Esq." and all the patent law work you've done in your life.

Then I'll tell you my experience with the legal system, judges who make backroom deals with lawyers and slap each others backs over a drink while the ESQ throws weeks of lead-up prepping for a trial out the window while I sit outside the courtroom wondering what the F is going on, about cops who "enhance" police reports to ensure they "get their man"... on second thought no I won't tell you any of that, I don't need to reaggravate my ulcer. Lol I've moved on (years ago) but retain my "healthy" disdain for ESQ's and the system in general.

Happy pokering!

Having patent litigation experience isn't a brag. But that's not the point. I just wanted to make sure there was no reasonable basis for your previous statements.

I'm holding you to that.

FWIW I am 3/3 profiting at the new casino, with some kinda bad luck. Regression to the mean can be a bitch, tho

Do you guys (and/or gals) play in the Saturday month-end tourney? I will be there.

On a bright note, I will NOT be looking to shove all-in within the first half-hour... because its no longer a one hour difference in start time with Fort McDowell's Saturday MegaStack since TheFort has moved their start time to 1 PM. Last month I shoved all-in with a nut flush draw on the flop at the start of Level 2 and got called by top pair. I lost the hand and was happily on my way down Shea... won't have to play quite so reckless this time! Can't wait to play a tourney in the new room, hopefully with non-sticky chips...

Good lord, 1300 at 1/2 is insane. Lol. I ain't never made that much in one session and I'll generally play 4/8 or 5/10 (and I don't understand why they skip 5/10 at CAZ). But I don't have the patience to play cash for hours like u grinders. Tourney, no problem, 10 hrs easy. Go figure.

No I asked the question a few pages back in this thread but nobody replied. I think everybody here plays cash, not tourney.

I passed by the tourney chips one of the few days, and it looked as if they weren't new. I didn't go pick them up or touch them, but from afar they looked old.

I visited the room yesterday and it seemed pretty nice. Wider than the old one and newer and cleaner feeling. Otherwise it was just a big room with poker tables. The whole layout of the new casino is nice though. I wonder what they'll do with the old tents.

Are you the guy who won the >$850 pot off of me when the 6s would have given us the jackpot?

They already sold the tents, I believe to some midwest casino or something.

Is it normal practice to allow a player to take money off the table to buy into a tournament?

Short stack with $200 doubles up,he takes $120 in chips to the cage and buys into the 7 PM tournament. He sits back down at the table with $280 to play for two hours until the tournament starts.

I asked the floor about it and he said it is allowed because the money stays in the house.

Yes, it is allowed to take money off the table to pay for food or drinks, to tip, or to buy into a tourney. Obviously you could shoot some angles because you can unregister from the tourney until it starts, but unless it becomes a habit and you let the floor know, there is nothing you can do.

it is totally wrong but the house makes the rules. small things is fine but to take a large part of your stack off for the tourny isnt good. but then again if you dont let them many will just quit right then and there.

I've been told it's not legal, but that was a few years ago and rules can change from year to year, and floor to floor.

the best way is for the players at the table to use their haead. if it is a live player let him do it if you think he may quit now if you try to force him to leave the money on the table.
if it is a tight player make him quit.

Let's say the table complained and floor agreed it is "going south"... so player has to leave table to go buy in to tourney. How long before he is allowed to re-sit at original table assuming his seat remains open?

I understand why taking money off is frowned upon, but it also seems kinda silly when all you need to do to make it "legal" is move tables or leave and sit down again in a short while.

1 hour seems to be the standard. Of course you might not be able to get to the same table.

Along these lines, I was wondering if there is a term for when a player leaves a bad main game to play in the super-juicy must-move, after sitting out his required time. I'm not familiar with one, and it seems not all to common an occurrence anyway, but I have come up with one.

Going Salmon: When a player leaves a bad main game to play in a much better must-move game after sitting out his required time. Derived from the fact that the player is attempted to "swim back upstream" after leaving his home, and often "dies" on the journey.

Thoughts?

P.S. Now 4/4 after digging out of $2700 hole last night, been down at least $700 each sesh so far. GOGOGO NEW CAZ!

Howard used to do that all the time at 20/40. He would work through the 3 tables to the main game, then sit out the required time, usually at an adjacent table, and then re-enter the 3rd game. I have less issues with that because they are hindering your table selection by having them must move.

Howard is a well known nit who should be monitored at all turns.
