We tracked it for a while and it was around 32/hr in the 5/10spread game.

Anyone know if they are doing a promo for the final 4?

Then should the rate be slightly higher in the 3-5/2-3 games, right? Don't you think the 5-10 is the slowest game?

Or is it that the 5-10 is more often played short?

With 0 time spent in the 5/10 game, I would have to say the 2/3 game is slower.

I would think the 5/10 would be the slowest game because [name removed] is the slowest player in the world I know in 3/5, there is a lot more folding around and chopping the blinds and stuff which I would think speeds things up a lot and seldom happens at 5/10.

And yeah being short handed would speed things up also but when whenever we count to see, we always do it 9 handed to make sure we're getting a good idea of how fast the game moves when full.

Speaking of speed, the 8/16 game has been disturbingly fast. That means a lot of pots are HU and the rake is the big winner. Do you see this too HB or is it jsut the times I am playing?

I play in the 8/16 there fairly regularly and haven't really noticed this. I do know the game is a lot nittier in the daytime than the evenings.

It's weird, I probably play with some of the people who post in this thread yet I have no idea who they are in person. I think I was introduced to Pope once but I wasn't paying a lot of attention at the time.

I think we all do. But I don't want to ask at the table and stalking people at the cage just seems wierd.

Just a warning. Don't mention any player by name on this thread, or make low content posts. You will be violating this forums TOS, and you will receive an infraction and enough infractions you will be banned.

I'm not sure what constitutes low content, I'm sure there is some sort of detail in the forum sticky, so until you memorize that I suggest not taking the risk of posting on this thread or in B&M. We've already lost one highly valued, very helpful and well liked poster in the last week, let's not lose any more.

(probably paging DC, ILR, and OTR here, but I welcome answers from anybody who knows)

Anybody have comments on the state of the big mix games? Specifically, does it run at 75/150 or higher, how often, on weekdays/weekends, and what's the mix? Is it a set mix, or does it tend to get negotiated when it starts up each day (and if so, when does it start?).

75 goes most days and it's generally negotiated, but often includes a bunch of draw games including split/draw games. Also they play anyany, which is a split pot no qualifier hi/lo draw game. They also play some other non-standard games in addition to Hold em and Omaha.

Sometimes they will get a HO or straight hold em game depending on who's in the game.

Bigger games do go, but only sporadically.

They have been playing a lot of split mix games with badugi involved, I.E Baduecy, ( badugi, deuce to 7 ) Badacey ( Badugi, ace to 5), Studugi ( stud, Badugi) along with Holdem Omaha/8 deuce to 7.

Thanks for the info, guys. Sounds like a fun time. Stop by and say hi if you see a stranger in town in a week or so negotiating for more draw games.

(Although any/any sounds like an awful game if it's 5 card draw hi/lo no qualifier, and TD high has never been all that exciting to me.)

I haven't seen much recent discussion of tourneys at CAZ. I was contemplating driving up from Sierra Vista to play the Superbounty on the 9th. Has anyone played this lately - how many runners are they getting? There's some mention from about a year ago of 20 person chops and whatnot. Any of this silliness still going on?

If you are in the final 20 and don't want to chop, that silliness can't happen...

If you aren't, who cares.

LOL Well let me tell you the story of last night's 130+10 Wednesday tourney then.

142 runners, 15 pays.

At 18 left we bogged down and no eliminations for at least a 1/2 hour, a deal was quickly worked out to shave some of first place and extend the $200 min payout to 18 places. Great! Well, it didn't help. Another 1/2 hour goes by and we're still at 15 left or so. It's well after midnight, people want to go home so a chop was attempted to be brokered at the 10K/20K blind level since we're no longer playing poker but "shove and pray". One doofus wearing a PokerStars shirt refuses the deal with just over 5BB's because "he's got less chips than me, and so does he, and so does he..." Meanwhile the guy to his immediate left has the only true stack left, and he's a good player (he was down to 2000 chips an hour earlier).

The deal was, 2K for the chip leader and everyone else gets 1000 or so and we go home.

He wouldn't budge. We upped it to 2K for first, 1200 for the "PokerStar" and 900 for the rest of us. STILL NO DEAL.

The TD say "no more stopping the clock til the final table" and we play on. And you KNOW how much the TD loves to encourage the chops. - "Time is your enemy, players."

Within five hands, I double up to 80K... and then I get JJ and call a shove and lose to AQ... leaving me less than 1 big blind. I went out in 13th for $392.

So yes, the deals are still happening. AND THEY SHOULD HAPPEN. We all could've walked out of there with good money, but one dork cost some of us a decent payday.

I've complained about the deal-making in the past too, but when the blinds are 10K/20K and stacks are almost without exception in the five big blind range, it's pretty ridiculous NOT to make a deal IMO.

Look at badbeatslayer, Luke Vrabel in that big Sunday Million... he made a 9-way deal at the final table because he knew it was more important to lock up a good, if not great, payday at that point because VARIANCE IS A BEEYATCH.

I wonder where the PokerStar ended up finishing last night. If there's karma in the world, he went out in 11th for the same $392 booby prize I got.
