If that were true it would be awesome! (although I'd worry it would further kill the 5/10 game.)

Edit: whoa Pat I just saw a text from Scott. He said the 1/2spread is now a 2/3, $300 spread, and the 3/5 is $1000 max. gogogogo

If that's true, you could stick a fork in the $5/$10 game.

I don't get texts from Scott anymore.

What are the max bets then? The 2/3 will still have a $250 max bet and the 3/5 will still have a $500 max bet?

I just came out of the room and can confirm that all the above posted changes are correct.
3/5 max is $1000.00
1/2 is now 2/3 with a $300.00 max

It's crazy that the execs of the casinos never think about the longterm viability of the games when the rake is so high. When you're raking $6 a hand (plus dealer tips) in a 3/6 game @ 30 hands/hr then that's $150 every hour. Not every hand is raked $6 so the average hourly take of a 3/6 table is probably about $100 which is generally a single buy-in from a player, and that is taken EVERY HOUR. Most of the games played at casinos are low limits too so they're hurting their bread and butter customers the most.
Why would they. People keep playing 3-6 in California for 30 years.

2/3: Max buy-in: $300. Max bet: $300

3/5: Max buy-in: $1,000 Max bet: $500

5/10: to my knowledge, didn't change.

Splash pots are back too. I think 1-5p weekdays, 50% of life tables, $100 splash pots (no kickers).

They're finally going to spread some of that promo fund around which is very good news. The room was well populated today and the vibe is more positive. I think that management have realized that hoarding the JP fund was not such a good idea.

Big new TV's on the way also. When they finally get the players card system working that'll be nice too.

While I hate on the $2JP drop I hate it less now that they'll be pumping the money back into circulation.

Splash pots will change on October 1:
Current:
Half the tables get splashed for $100
New:
ALL live jackpot games will be splashed $50 at the following times: 6,7,8,9,10 A.M.
and then also at
12,1,2,3,4,5,8,10, 11 P.M.

Also, a small correction on the new 96inch plasmas...
there will be 11 new sets installed, not the 9 as originally anticipated.

I had not heard about the jackpot change. $50 to every live table...interesting.

The "$2 max rake" is a joke. They are still dropping for the jackpots in all non time games. So it is $2+$2, M-F, from 12-6am. LOL! Thanks CasAz, you really have the players backs.

I would encourage everyone to contact Kent Odekirk, the director of Poker Operations at CasAz. He is on both LinkedIn and Facebook. The $6 drops by $30 in non time games is absolutely ridiculous.

We live in a sick world. I guess with poker at least you can win money in the long run. The sickest is all the money people keep throwing away playing slots, roulette, blackjack, etc.

There's entertainment value to poker. The regs hate the rake's slow bleed, the more infrequent/tourists not so much. At least the promo fund should decrease, or at least, not increase. The splash pots are popular and it's a good way to put money back on the tables, imo. Bigger TV's will be nice.

What I'd like is for them to work on their comp system (if there is going to be one) and their electronics bec this calling out loud for a floor and the dealer not knowing if the board is aware of empty seats is silly given the amount of money they've put into the room.

As I read this from Florida I thought, I hope to be back in time for this. I'm still here and won't be back until the following week.

If you guys do this again, I'll be there.

Just got back from CAZ and happy to say we won the Jack & Jill tourney after chopping for $1k

Fun tournament format, which definitely becomes a turbo. We both got lucky with big hands and coinflips.

Congrats on that.

On the subject of open seats, I really liked the display boards they had at the old one. From almost any seat in the room you could see what tables had an open seat, which one had multiple open seats, which tables were on the wait list for service, and which were on the wait list for chip runner/set up.

Having this basically invisible to the customer now makes it harder for us regulars to help out. We would notice if the chip light wasn't on, or service wasn't on, etc. Now I am completely oblivious to any of the lists cause there is no way I can see it.

With that being said, I think service is more prompt at the new place, but the chip running has gone downhill, but that likely started at the old place once they stopped letting them keep their own tips.

So have I gotten a signal and not seen it, or what? Is my lack of signal why I am running so horrible? JUST GIVE ME THE DAMN SIGNAL ALREADY SO THIS MADNESS CAN END!

I know most of you are cash players, so my rant will perhaps go largely by the wayside.... however, I feel compelled to vent anyway.

I've only played 2 tournaments at Casino AZ (I just moved here 22 days ago)... the ladies' tournament 2 weekends ago, and the "last Saturday of month" tournament. Had fun at the ladies' tournament, even though I bubbled in 11th place :: sigh ::

However, the "last Sat" tourny was ... well... irritating. First, they give all players a Keno card to fill out if the player pays the $15 dealer appreciation. At least that's how it's explained to the player. But the fun doesn't end there; the dealer leaves $5 on the table for the Keno runner, or $10 if you happened to give $20, then the Keno runner theoretically takes your ticket, and brings your change back. Well, of course this doesn't all get completed by tournament time, so while you're trying to play, you have a Keno runner interupting to give players Keno cards (which may or may not be the correct card) and then a complete fiasco ensues because half the time, no change comes back to the player. And the response to that is "I don't mark the tickets, I only bring them back to deliver."

The Keno promo is the WORST idea EVER in the history of poker promos. Who can watch the Keno board anyway??? So, you end up just taking your ticket at some point to the Keno window and saying "Did I win?", which, you'll never really know if you did or not, because nobody in the tournament is paying attention to Keno anyway.

The players.. well... I realize I have to get familiar with starting with short stacks ($3k - $5k compared to the $10k I'm used to), and I have a whole new crowd of people to get familiar with, but I was surprised how many people played that tournament like a $2/$4 limit game... call everything down to the river; except of course the players who moved all in, in theory to get someone off their hand, but in reality only forced the other player to call because they were already pot committed.

Ok, I'm done.

Congrats to the poster who won the Jack & Jill tourny. I talked one of the guys I work with into entering the next one with me!
