So Ive been playing at Lone Butte alot lately. I was curious if its better to be deep stacked at 1/2 for $300 or to play 2/3 with $300 even though I'll only have 100bbs. Should rake be the only consideration?

No - that area is all closed I think. Leave the main lobby and go straight past the tent and into the parking lot across from the long side of the tent - it’s down there. Still pretty convenient.

Looks like the structure is coming along pretty quickly. They had cement poured on the 2nd story this weekend. Maybe it'll be ready by the end of this year?

Does Talking Stick have two sites? Is it “casino” at one and poker at the other?

My kids are out there for Super Bowl (son won a small SB package and took his big sis). Since I collect chips they are going to grab some and trying to figure if one or two spots. Plus son plays poker and BJ/S21.

They are staying in Tempe. Anything else close? Any other recs for activities this weekend?

There are two Casino Arizona locations, Talking Stick Resort is the only one with poker. The other location, off 101 on McKellips road, has slots and table games.

Just to confuse things more, both are "off the 101" in Scottsdale. TSR is the 'hi rise' resort
(pretty lights at night) to the north, further from Tempe. Casino Arizona is the other one, to the south. TSR has poker (in a temp building in front of the valet, not in the casino proper).

Chips are the same at both, and he can easily get to CA at McKellips from Tempe if poker is not a priority. I could probably send you a couple 1's or 5's from rooting around under my car seat or dresser.

"Big Game" Sunday will be nutz at TSR and in the poker room. At least years past.

Only things they didn’t get in were balloon (winds) and sky dive (game no fly zone). Say game was incredible. Think they even found the Salt Cellar ( hope it is still good, been 25 yrs since been there).

Well, it has usually run mid-August. Last year, closer to WSOP end, it was different. I don't know which time of year they will favor going forward. Fewer pro's if it happens in the midst of the WSOP (?)

you're being too kind to how bad the floors/managers are. not sure ive ever experienced a room be run so poorly. pretty much stopped going as the floors admitted that they just arent going to start 5/5 plo games unless theres 15+ people on the list who are all present and wanting to play. just dont care for the 5/10 mix where its actually 5/10/20 with a mandatory straddle where you only see like 4-5 hands per hour (its a soft game, but too few hands per hour is brutal).

Excited to see Lone Butte running a mystery bounty right before the state championship. Maybe if the TD/Poker Room Manager at TS could wake up and get any kind of pulse on the poker world they will run one soon. They could run so many big tournaments out here.

Any update or progress on when the new room might open? I’ll be moving to a spot that’s the same driving distance between the talking stick and desert diamond…thinking of trying desert diamond since the tent has been so terrible
