PokerfaceAsh is probably the best bet to get inside room shots in the near term.

Was there Saturday pretty solid set up. Hardly waited. A lot of games. The ac wasn’t working or wasn’t working well everyone was complaining …hopefully they got it taken care of

Quick question…did they change the Uber pick up to behind the poker tent? Or is it still down the stairs by that parking lot by the old poker room?

Or are there two now?

Isn't Saturday her last day playing in AZ before she moves? It'll be at Lone Butte.

I don't really watch her that much. Maybe seen 3-4 of her videos, so obviously I didn't know that. Sorry.

Just played a nice long session at the new “tent” (room) Wednesday night - Thursday morning.

Late in the early morning we were playing 2/3 like 3-4 handed for an hour or two. Is this common? Only other thing running was lhe.

The high hand bonuses really kept the table alive. Guy to my left won it 4 times! I won it once.

New room is fine, sucks that it’s not directly connected to the casino, but whatever. The AC is great toward the back of the room, but not so great up front near the entrance, also a decent amount of flies coming in.

TS action is great compared to lone butte. I’m Assuming it’s all the Scottsdale money.

One table I got moved to for an hour or so had phenomenal action. I 3b squeezed qq over five callers to $100,got five callers.

Every pot was 2-300+. Even the dealers were commenting about how great the action was.

Funny seeing people order $25+ salmon and getting it on a plastic plate with plastic utensils. Arizona's premiere poker destination!

A few years ago, one of the Floor that’s been around a long time, told me that if I didn’t like his ruling, to go play somewhere else. There was nowhere else to play at that time, and he knew it. They had a monopoly. Now, they’re down to about 50% market share with two other poker rooms open in the valley. Unfortunately, Talking Stick Poker Room acts like they still have a monopoly.

The temporary (2 years?) tent is up and running, but it’s far short of expectations. Here are a few things that in my opinion need improvement:

Smokers gather right at the entrance, so everyone has to walk through their cloud of smoke in order to enter the poker room. Move the fricken ashtrays about 20 feet down please away from the door.

There is a nice looking bar area right at the entrance. Unfortunately, it’s empty because it was very poorly planned. Who did they think would be hanging out there? Poker players? Poker players hang out at the poker tables, and then they go home. Also, there is no draft beer. Somehow, the powers that be didn’t think it was important to have draft beer. Who made that decision, and have they been demoted yet?

The food service is embarrassing. Damn near 30 bucks to eat on a paper plate with plastic forks. Up until the virus thing started, when someone would ask, “how’s the food?” just about everyone would say it’s great. Last week an out of towner asked, “how’s the food?” and there was just an awkward silence. It’s gone downhill so fast, it’s almost like they’re trying to get rid of serving food. To be fair, an employee told me that the kitchen area is so small, it’s amazing they can put out what they are. Whoever was in charge of the floor plan / layout obviously dropped the ball.

I used to spend $100 - $200 per week on food and drinks. Last week I spent $35. Unfortunately, it’s the employees that have been there through thick and thin that are getting the worst of it. I’m sure the servers are getting killed money wise. They come around to take orders, and everyone is just silent. Maybe they could get rid of the ridiculous soda and coffee machines that are right inside the front door. If you give the nits free access to drinks, they’re not going to spend a dime.

I think there are lots of opportunities for improvement.

I've gone there a couple times now. You're right about the bar. The poor bartender is just standing there looking bored. The people smoking right outside the door is stupid and rude. Also, if you smoke spray some fabreze on you. You come back to the table and stink of smoke. The price of food is outrageous price gouging. You pay 22 dollars for salmon that may or may not be dry. I think they know that people can't easily go to the other food opitions in the casino given the location of the tent. It also takes forever to get the food. It's hot and muggy inside and there are a ton of flies.

I went there once but haven’t gone back. I used to play at least twice a month…is this tent for a couple of months or a couple of years?

Years!

I'm glad I don't grind many hours because it's miserable inside. I'm one to keep the AC super chill though so take that for what it's worth.

Ugh, that is my #1 concern as well. If they can't get the temp right, no way I am going to visit (and spend 10 hours a session).

I thought I heard that previously the tent was basically just like a building and the temp was fine/cold. Was hoping for the same with the new one. Guess not.

Maybe it was changed at some point, but when the previous room first opened, it was way too cold. People would put the metal food trays over the AC vents on the floor so it wasn't blowing cold air on them constantly. Really poor design, who puts AC vents in the floor??

Why the tent? Did they use the poker room floor space in the casino for something else?

Just about every one story ranch I have ever seen with a basement and most in Midwest without basement. YMMV

They are on the floor in some older houses that were originally built without AC, because it makes sense to put the heating vents low (as hot air rises). Some of those were retrofitted for AC but use the same vents. Putting vents make specifically for AC on the floor seems very inefficient. Maybe the vents at TS are occasionally used for heat, but they certainly need the AC more often.

Where do I want the space cool? 3 ft from the floor ot 3ft from the ceiling. Personally, I don't care how warm it is by the ceiling. Same goes for the heat, except I can't prevent hot air from rising.

If you're in a tent, overhead ducts are probably not feasible.

I learn so much on this forum.

If it is a 'temporary' structure they could probably get away with just those flexible air shafts running along the walls.
