lol, really? You are that out of the loop you didn't hear about the issues at all? I guess I can understand you taking a weekend off to avoid the mess of the tourney. You need twitter, facebook, bravo, or at least check here. I made like 15 posts about the issue!

Gila River had a 20 game Sat, Sun, and has one going right now.

I hadn't thought of the slot players who had money in the machines and couldn't get it out. What can they possibly do about that?

Having working in casinos that have lost power before (some during tornado warnings. *that* sure was fun!), returning funds to slot players really isn't that hard to do.

For some reason there seems to be a misconception that a power outage wipes the machine clean or something. Nope.

On board memory. Players cards. Verification of who is where before leaving that night by security. Video confirmation. There's a multitude of methods.

Also happening at 2am helps a little here. Less people.

Returning of funds is waaaay down the list of difficulties this week for them. That part is relatively straight forward.

I was a day 1B (Saturday) Tournament ticket holder that won my seat on a single table satellite. I went down to Casino Arizona (McKellips & 101) to get a refund.

Walked right up to the cage. She took my receipt and asked me for my identification (I don't know how this will impact people who purchased entries from 3rd parties?). She took my ID and receipt and directed me to a line of dudes (about 7 people) in front of another cashier. All waiting for the same thing. When it was my turn, they counted out $1100 for me and I was on my way. The whole process took maybe 5 minutes.

Post on Facebook from a floor shows a letter to employees saying they will receive their regular wages for the time period even though most aren't going to work this week.

Also, this:

Tuesday.

Howard Beale: watch The Deuce on HBO. Season 1 on demand, season 2 out in a bit.

It will bring you down memory lane of the grittier New York circa 1971. Start of legalized porn, pushing the girls / pimos off the streets into massage parlors, time square scene.

Any idea on when gaming might reopen? I saw shows got postponed into september, but does that mean the entire casino/poker room going to stay closed for that time period?

Any idea if the higher limit games moved to any different casino in the meantime? 20-40 / 40-80 ++?

I called today and the operators haven't been given any info at all. They have no idea when they'll open. The bigger games are at Wild Horse Pass for now.

I've been hearing bits and pieces of information, rumor, and conjecture, but it sounds like Talking Stick is SUPER screwed.

Ok, I'll bite... anything worth sharing in here?

They emailed my gf and I about our upcoming reservation we had this weekend to obviously let us know it was canceled. Had planned on playing quite a bit this weekend too... might have to ride the wild horse I guess. Sigh.

Any insight into some of the rumors?? That sucks if its a long fix...

this is one of my favorite rooms - going for a week straight at the end of september to grind and getting the feeling i should look elsewhere

Just rumors of what I’ve heard, and can’t say how true any of them are.

There is structural damage to the foundation, and the building isn’t passing code to reopen. I’ve heard maybe by October-December. Also heard a horror story rumor of maybe needing to tear down the whole building and and starting over.

Hopefully none of this is true and TSR will be open soon.

I liked the old tents better than the new casino anyway.

Heh. If we hear 'tents' that building is coming down. I also thinks that's about as wild a speculation as possible.

I'll pass on some of the rumors I've heard, since I think rumor swapping is fun. I make zero claim that any of the following is true and it's very possible everything that follows is false. Hey, it's rumors!

"The tribal council has a meeting tomorrow and they're going to discuss opening a temporary poker room at another location." (said last week)

"This guy I played with says his friend is the chief engineer working on the project and apparently the entire hotel tower has sunk seventeen inches into the ground and it cannot be propped up and buttressed due to the type of ground it's on."

"The tribal inspectors are willing to sign off on opening the place but the state inspectors took a look and said no way."

I also have heard every month for the rest of the year mentioned as a target date for reopening, as well as the building being leveled and the tents coming back. Everyone has a different "guess" and source for their information.

It's still closed? What happened? Did the flooding physically damage the buildings/gaming areas/equipment? Did it destroy the power/electrical equipment? Both?

I have a friend who works at a resort in Scottsdale. He said a conference that was scheduled for the week of Sept 20 at Talking Stick has been moved to his place. The meeting planners where told it might not be till October before they reopen and that was a big maybe.
