I see it is currently scheduled for September 23rd at Talking Stick. (According to Pokernews, subject to change).

According to the Pokerstars blog, it is an $86 entry fee tournament that will award the first place finisher a $30,000 value 'Platinum Pass' to be used for future specified tournament entries. It will also be its own tournament where the $86 entry fee goes toward the prize pool, with the exact structure and details determined by the TD at each individual location, so apparently it isn't a winner take all format either.

The 23rd is also a Ladies Tournament.

Wonder if that platinum pass is transferrable. If I win it ima sell it.

Looks more like an entry into a $25k high roller where Trickett and Bonomo will feast on the fish.

I remember it as a $13 satellite.

Do the cash games usually run during the state championship? And if not is there a time the trny goes to every day?

If tables are available, cash games will run. Tourney starts at 9am, so I would expect almost all, if not all tables to be closed down by 8:30.

I would expect Saturday and Sunday to pretty much be sold out, I know Sunday was last year. So don't expect cash games to start until a few hours after the tournament starts as tables start to break.

Even then, expect long wait times. If you can avoid it, might be better to wait to come in until the evening when the tourney will be winding down.

You can always check bravopokerlive to see how many are left in that flight in the tourney and also how many cash game tables are going, what games are going, and how long the waiting lists are for the cash games you prefer.

Considering they have 45 tables, that means 100 alternates.

According to a poker floor person on Facebook, the poker room is currently closed due to flooding. Not sure what impact this will have on the tourney. I'll post any twitter updates I see.

How can that happen? It must have rained in Scottsdale before.

To be fair, the east valley has gotten pummeled the last three days. I know Mesa probably had well over half of its annual rainfall average this week including 2.5 inches in a hour and half span Thursday. Probably no chance to dry out. Plus I believe a lot of their operational equipment, security, generators and what not are located underground.

Right, but it's not like that place was built 50 years ago. I would think they had planned drainage, etc. Although I've seen drainage systems overloaded before, but that was in the Bay area where they drain into the ocean. They don't work so good when the tide is coming in. I saw water shooting OUT of a drain 10 feet into the air like a fountain.

They must be losing tons of money, between rooms costs and casino revenue. How do they resolve slots and vp machines that lost power. Hopefully they had flash memory, otherwise a guest would claim he had a thousand bucks in a machine when he only had 10. Plus resolving who was playing what machine.

From the resort facebook page a few minutes ago: "Due to the power outage, The Arizona State Poker Championship will be postponed through Monday, and more information will be released as soon as we can assess when we may be able to resume play."

Looks like tomorrow is out too and maybe Monday.

This means people who made it through on Friday 8/10 don't get to play Day 2 until Thursday 8/16 at the earliest assuming it doesn't get postponed further.

I would vote for them to just announce the restart for next Saturday so everyone knows what the hell is going on and how to plan. Expecting to get that 500+ players back on a Tuesday and Wednesday probably isn't feasible.
