The room was packed due to March Madness but the game play was rather sane.

Played yesterday while in town for the final 4. It was a good room. The game played a lot tighter than a typical east coast game.

Only room to play.

8/16 and 20/40 hold'em go daily no problem.
20/40 OE also goes daily but can be sporadic start time
40/80 hold'em goes occasionally, mainly in evenings

They are having a "tax day" tournament April 15th, but the tax deadline this year is April 18th. Not cool.

Hey guys. Had an older account but can't remember the username. Anyway I have been wanting to play some omaha 8 limit and checking bravo. Any know the difference between the 4/8 game here and the 5/10 at harrahs AK-Chin? Are they both fun to play In. Not really talking about fish vs regs and whatnot I'm just a for fun player. But are both games relatively loose and fun atmosphere? I see talking stick has more games running but maybe also worth checking the 5/10 out too. Any info would be awesome. Thanks.

Also as a follow up for talking stick, I see they have an 8/16 omaha 8 game running most of the day. I do have a bankroll to play that, is that game a big step up in skill level over 4/8? I am a novice thats why wanting to play 4/8 But have read in the past that the rake is damn near unbeatable at 4/8 holdem. Does that translate to omaha too? Even tho I'm new and prepared for learning curve and losses I'd hate to play In 4/8 where rake will crush me if I get lucky and win a little.

What is the rake here at talking stick at those games?

For more information about me just want to learn the game and play recreationally and for fun but want to know if rake is a huge issue between those two limits. Thanks for any replies everyone.

For 4/8 here vs/ 5/10 at Harrah's, I would simply go to the one that is closer. I can't imagine Harrah's is closer. If it is, than so is Gila River which also gets 4/8 Omaha 8/b.

The 8/16 is no longer Omaha 8/b, it is OE, so it also plays half stud 8/b.

Rake is the same at 4/8 and 8/16, but is obviously a larger % of the pot at 4/8. Pretty sure it is 4+2.

It's likely that every 4-8 08 game is the exact same in the entire U.S. The rake is $4 + $2BBJ at Talking Stick. All you have to do is play ABC and if you have ANY kind of luck you will win. Superluck and you win a lot for 4-8.

Ak Chin is in the middle of nowhere, or basically right next to it. From time to time they get a crowd, but if it's not some big promotion day, on balance it's always the worst choice for poker.

Damn I just realized my convention in PHZ is on Apr 25-27th which means I'll most likely play on a Wednesday night.

How are the games on weekdays? Is there a decent amount of tables for 3-300 and is it nitty?

This tax day tournament looks interesting...$200 buy in with $10,000 added to prize pool. That's going to draw a pretty solid crowd I would guess.

That_pope, or any other regs : What is the structure of the 8/16 or 20/40 OE games? Is there a kill in O8, and what are the antes/bring-in sizes in stud8? Also, how about the game quality/difficulty?

The 20 game is 5$ ante/5$ bring. There is a half kill in both Omaha and stud triggered by a scoop over 10 small bets.

The 8-16 Stud round has a $2 ante and a half-kill for a scoop of $120 in either game. If you can't beat these players you can't beat anybody. The only problem is whether or not it's an action game which varies greatly and I won't play it when it isn't. There's something of a problem w/ longevity as well during the weekdays.

Someone in the MHSLH forum mentioned that the poker rate issues I had posted about years past had been resolved. I happen to be in PHX (but not staying at TSR) and played some 20 tonight, so I asked.

Sure enough, they claim the system has now changed. Occupancy rate no longer matters. You just need to play 6 hours each day, and talk to the shift manager and they will adjust your rate for that day to the poker rate. You can do it all at once at the end of your stay, too, you don't have to deal with it every day.

Dec-April, the rates are (currently) $139 Su-Th, $189 Fri-Sat. May-Nov rates are $99 all week.

Anyone know how many Player Rewards points = 1 dollars? Also, if I get something something to eat for $10, should I tip $1 or $2? I just started building my bankroll so really don't want to tip more than I should.

I usually tip $2 for something small like soup and $3 for an actual meal. I think $1 is pretty cheap for anything more than a soda.

I think the player's card gives you 70c/hr.
