Something like that. Just a ton of wealthy people there who are willing to gamble bunches of money.

Also there are people playing for a living in the 3-5 or 20-40 games here. There are even a couple guys trying to eek out an existence playing smaller games. But it would be pretty much impossible to survive in LA making what one can at those limits, so you don't really see many pros until you get to 40-80 or 5-10.

Man, I am getting pumped for the State Championship! Got a ticket from the 2 seat SNG. Super soft! Hoping the main event is just as exploitable.

Please help with 3 questions

1. Is there a Poker Room Rate for the tournament?

2. Do we need a player card in order to register for the tournament?

3. Anyone has a copy of the structure sheet?

Thx

I called today and booked my room. Just call normal room reservations and tell them you're coming for poker. When you get to the hotel, before you check in, register for the tournament and bring the receipt to the check in desk and they'll change the rate for you.

See you guys in 2 weeks.

Can anybody with any cache at talking stick speak with management about extending registration for the State Championship, only leaving reg open 3 early levels when you start with 26k in chips is pretty ridiculous, no reason to not leave it open thru 2nd break at least

Also can someone please post a structure sheet for the event?

thanks

nvm found the structure sheet, thanks persianpunisher.

anybody know how long day 1 is scheduled for?

I think that the registration issue is a pretty big one, this tournament is great and could be a bit better.

After reg closes the next level is 100/200/25, so buying in youd have 130bb.

Just keeping reg open 2 more hours, so you can get in until 2nd break at 300/600 (43bb) seems completely reasonably, better to your players who make their way to the casino, and could massively increase the prize pool

here's a good reason: the tourney is incredibly soft because of all the satellite winners and locals that will fire 1-2 bullets. Everybody that wants to play this tourney that you want playing is going to play regardless of the late registration time. More or less the only people that are going to late register are tourney pros that bust early. Sure the prize pool will be larger but it will also be significantly tougher with later registration periods.

Also there are a finite amount of tables, when the close registration early they can start to open cash game tables quicker.

Trying to plan a trip to TSR. Checked the past few pages for rake info but couldn't find any. If listed ITT anyone know around what page?

I'm trying to get rake info for 8/16 holdem and OE game and 20/40 holdem and OE game. Is it rake or time?

Thanks for any info.

20/40+ is time, $7 per half hour.

8/16 is $4+2. Not sure exactly what pot size it is taken at, but really doesn't matter much at 8/16. I think full rake at $30?

I wish CAZ would do a series of limit events the same week as the state championship. I think they would get a great turnout if they did something like a LHE, an OE, an O8 and a HORSE, somewhere around the $300-500 buy in level. They did a $300 O8 tournament earlier this year with no guarantee or advertising and still were able to draw 58 players. But it seems like the management has never had any interest in making this a real tournament series.

the same week as state ? as in concurrently?
Logistically impossible, the state day 1s fill the room, and there is no possible way to have and operate a separate tourney room in another part of the casino, state gaming agreements will just not allow it. period( at least at TSR right now, no way that would change in time, if ever)

No, as in the few days before the big tournament.

As in, the days they've had those lead-up tourneys. In the past (not sure about this year) they had like a $100, $200, $300, and then a $500 tourney on the M-Th leading up that they advertised along with it as warm-up tourneys.

Are there any in room fliers for the prelims for week of state championship. The website only lists several $140 mega satties and no mention of any preliminaries Mon-Thur this year.

Thanks
