I've played exactly one tournament with a host before. Every other one has seemed to run fine without an overpaid "poker celebrity" at the helm.

Played with a guy chasing Pokemon all around the poker room/casino in between hands last night.... #mindblown

Guy was like 45-50 years old

I am looking to play the State Championship next month. I am curious if anyone has any experience with using a credit card to enter through the box office? Does anyone know if it is coded as a cash advance? Or something else like a hotel charge? I dont want to pay any unnecessary fees and I have now called the box office twice and they dont seem to know.

Thanks!

Great question. I don't know how places get away with charging gambling / poker tournaments as food, hotel, whatever, but some do and it's amazing.

I told everyone last year I Know to do it. Sign up for new cc where you have to spend 2-3k or whatever for 50k miles. Register for tourney, pay off cc. free $500 in equity

Do you know if they charge a cash advance fee or credit card fee of any sort?

No I don't think they did. You purchase from the box office so just like buying show tickets with a cc

I paid last year with a CC and I don't remember being charged an additional fee.

Excellent! I just signed up for the Citi Prestige so by entering this tournament with my other spending Ive done I will get 53,000 miles and 2x points if they code it as entertainment! I called my bank today to set my cash advance limit to $0 just in case. Can never be too careful.

So CAZ eats the 3% fee from the credit card company? Surprising.

If it were the old management group I would bet it's coming out of the jackpot fund as a "promotion".

Would appreciate a little info on the LHE games going on a regular basis. I don't have the bravo app...suppose it's something I should check into. After a tough illness for 18 months, the doctors think I'll live so I'm ready to return to the tables. Stopped into VeeQuiva yesterday for the first time ever. Nice place. One 3-6 game going and I helped start a 4-8. They said that was about all they ever have. I prefer 6-12 to 10-20. Can I find something at CAZ most every day around noon or so? Not working anymore, so I can play whenever the games are good. Looking forward to being a regular and maybe meeting some of the regulars I follow here on 2+2.

They have 8-16 that runs with multiple tables all day. 20-40 runs daily and 40-80 runs often at night, but sporadic during the day.

3/6, 4/8, 8/16, and 20/40 are going almost always, except maybe late at night/early in morning.

And you don't need an app. Just go to www.bravopokerlive.com Will need a gmail/facebook account to log in. Then select AZ and you'll see all the local rooms listed that have Bravo.

Thanks. Looks like that's where I should be. Really looking forward to getting out again. I'm guessing it's played in a 4 chip/8 chip format with $2 chips? Years ago the regular 10/20 game was switched one day to a 9/18 game using $3 chips. Of course, the reason was to create more action with the 3/6 chip format instead of the 2/4 chip format with red. Asked one day why the game changed, we explained to a new guy that we couldn't afford 10/20 any longer.

Thanks, Pope. Been lurking on 2+2 for years and used to post a little a few years ago. They had a thread going in LVL about old Vegas stories. I lived/dealt there in '77-'78 and met a bunch of the old school players. Lot of neat stories about the old days. Finally "retired" and able to get out to play now. Looking forward to contributing from time to time.

And.....by "contribute" I mean post to the forums. Although I may contribute to some of you in other ways from time to time.

Generally the first 8-16 starts somewhere between 10-11 am, second game appx an hour later, (quicker on the weekend) so bear that in mind if you want to start early. Turnover in the games is often fairly quick so if you don't make it you shouldn't have to wait very long.

Thanks again everyone. Looking forward to playing regularly and eventually getting to know who some of you are. And how cool is it that we locally can lay claim to DeathDonkey?

It's a back-handed brag since people figure he moved there for the fish.

How do games in AZ compare to L.A games?

Games are much tougher than LA for any given limit in my opinion.

Kinda what I assumed. Think it's due to less disposable income?
