I asked a Casino guy in the room last night who won... he tells me "the young kid with the huge stack of chips"... thanks pal. I also asked why they haven't publicized it or called the paper with the results... "Oh they were here taking photos and stuff... I'm sure it'll be in there soon."

Don't rush it. Take the whole year if you need to...

My theory is nobody knows who any of em are, so nothing to really publicize. Also, in talking to other players I get the impression nobody cares who won because all they know or care about is that IT WASN'T THEM. Poker players are obv selfish like that, we're all in it for ourselves.

They had an article in the paper about the tourney...but guess they don't want to publish the fact that people walked into CAZ and played a poker tourney and then left with thousands and thousands of dollars...cuz like who would be interested in that?

Wonder what 1st place paid

Yah cause no criminal would ever think about it until they read about it in the paper. LOL

I doubt CAZ handed the winner $300K in CASH. I doubt they gave anyone at the FT a cash payout but must've done checks instead... no?

I thought about the privacy issue, but come on... they built this event up in the newspapers and radio ads all last week... but after its over they barely even acknowledge it even in their casino? Weird.

It just shows how dumb their marketing and PR people are. I bet there are thousands of a Valley folks who don't even know you can play poker at the casino.

They aren't allowed to chop it.

I spoke to the tournament director yesterday and he is taking everything into consideration for next years state tournament:

Start Times (Not 9am.. poker players don't wake up that early)
Blind Structure (Avoid shove fest)
Pay Out Structure (Stop the top heavy.. reward for FT)
Final Table Day (Not finish at 4am)
Chop possibilities

I think all we can do is provide our advise and see what happens...

I agree with everything except #1... I thought 9am was PERFECT TIME... but then again I ain't a "pro", I make my money the old fashioned way, with an 8-5 desk job every day... 9am was a late start for me.

Thx for talking to them, A for effort but they prob already forgot about it. LOL

As they apparently told the Chainsaw (also known as Complainsaw)... "That's just how we do it here".

Funny you bring up Chainsaw because I think he went about it the wrong way by just posting on twitter and facebook to CaAz rather than speaking to the TD. After a bunch of us spoke to the TD the blind structures were changed to encourage better poker... Also I think with Chainsaw's name and experience he could get someone like SavagePoker to lend some advise or recommendations to the CaAz staff without it comoing out like "complainsaw"...

I agree i work the 8-5 job (from home) and 9am was ok with me but stopping at 6pm to me was kinda odd..

If you came in late Wednesday night, your choices for LHE were 4-8 and 40-80

The 4-8 is a pretty tough game with that rake, I encourage everyone to instead try the 40 game if they haven't a chance. It's pretty much played the same way, the regulars are very friendly and cordial, and you can win much, much, more.

It's the best game in the house!

Lies! Really you should try the 5/10spread limit. It's almost like 4/8 (5/10 is just one pip higher!) and it's sort of like limit and a little bit of the really fun texas poker that you see on TV. Definitely the most fun game in the house!

Thank goodness they are so nice. I played 4-8 last summer and re-learned that it's bad ettiquette to raise when the sun is still shining.

Oh, we love and encourage aggressive play at the 40, it's all good fun. Just wait till a reg three bets your aces with pocket deuces. You'll laugh and laugh trying to make the pain go away!

They really can't stop it either. The WSOP doesn't "allow chops" either, but an arrangement made after payout is out of the casino's control. Harrah's gave up actively trying to prevent it.

It's the players money anyway. Their policy is absurd.

What is absurd is that it isn't even their policy. Like someone else said, at every other tournament with 9 people left the TD is actively encouraging everyone to just chop so they don't have to waste time dealing. They just pick this one and say no chopping so it sounds better when the top guy wins $350K or whatever.

Anyone know what's going on today? Drove in at 2 pm, covered parking was full all the way to the top. Old lot in front of tent appeared full or close, I took a spin through the main lot but it appeared the other covered parking building isn't open yet, and the main lot appeared close to full.

I couldn't valet because their valets suck, so now I'm back home with all my money...

I think there was some kind of convention going on, I saw someone wearing a name badge when I was in the gift shop today.

I got to the parking garage around 10:30am and I had to park on the roof, normally there are a lot of empty spots at that time.
