Maybe he realized that releasing $500k of players money would help increase the revenue of the room in the short term...

Earned interest won't matter, what they would make in a year is lfar less than what they would rake in a day near capacity

ETA: If they made any money at all from interest the manager would've kept the promo fund at 800K+ like the old one did. One of the best things he's done is lower it to the 350K range.
Have not been there in quite awhile. Glad they lowered it. I remember it being close to a million

When it was close to a million I used to complain and complain, mention it to floor ppl and was told not to even try bringing it up w/ the former manager bec he simply HAD to have a big fund. When the new manager came he did two solid things: First, he got the casino to pay the dollar/hr on the players cards (the $7 meal comps had been coming out of the promo fund) and second, he spent that ridiculous amount of money down to a reasonable level.

As for the new BBJ I've stated repeatedly that I prefer smaller payouts spread around. However I'm willing to wait and see if it brings in increased traffic which would be good.

For your consideration:
From the Arizona Gaming office website:
APPENDIX F(2)

DEFINITIONS, OPERATIONS STANDARDS, SPECIFICATIONS AND
REGULATIONS GOVERNING JACKPOT POKER

II. PROMOTIONAL AWARD POKER GAME REQUIREMENTS

CC. Jackpot Promotional Fund Rules.

(5) All funds contributed by players into a jackpot promotional fund
shall be returned to players on the happening of one or more
predetermined events, which may or may not include the play of a
hand, in accordance with the posted rules, except as provided by
Compact Section 3(v)(2)(H). A player must be actively participating
in live or tournament play at the time eligibility for an award from the
jackpot promotional fund is determined. No commission or
administrative fee shall be paid to the Gaming Facility Operator or
others for administering a jackpot promotional fund. Any non-cash
award shall be charged to the jackpot promotional fund at no
greater than the actual cost of the award (as reasonably
determined by the Gaming Facility Operator). In addition, the funds
contributed to a jackpot promotional fund shall be accounted for
separately. Any interest earned on a jackpot promotional fund
balance shall be credited and posted to the jackpot promotional
fund.

In other words, 100% of any funds collected as jackpot drop and interest earned from those funds is returned to the players.

I heard they were going to start infringing my inalienable right to write Monty Python names on the drawing slips, knowing I won't be around when they draw.

Then you fall back to names like Ben Dover and Mike Hunt.

FYI to Phoenix people that think they are Hot Stuff tournament players that would never play in Tucson - WPT Deepstacks is coming to Casino Del Sol in September.

Its funny how when a casino in north valley openned, all of a sudden new chairs and Bravo poker, . As usual TS says it like they feel **** banguet chairs made to be sat in for less than hour. Customer appreciation at its worst.

***Disclaimer***
Whole heartedly against a SBBJ as in two years I've never had a table share, WTf would I want an even less likely opportunity for more ? Just buy me power ball tickets and keep my $2.

Having said that, I can't count the number of times I've been in on a Tuesday to see a packed room and wonder WTF is going on just to have a dealer tell me BBJ is at 25k or whatever. So if a 500k BBJ is gonna get the randoms in the door donking short stacks of $100 @2/3 and $300 @3/5 over and over then I am all for it!!!

If anything my beef would be, bring back splash pots, tickets for play offs and gold chips, get rid of this Monte Carlo BS, only win with quads or better, er wait sorry someone already hit it, you get nothing GG come again.

Interested to hear what the Talking Stick regulars think about this hypothetical situation:

You notice that certain people tend to get moved up or bumped off lists for games when a certain floor person is running the board. You are 99% sure he or she is purposefully doing this based on how well he or she likes people, which is probably correlated to how well/often they tip him or her. You have not previously been in the habit of tipping this individual often and now find yourself frequently bumped off the list when this person is running the board. You play regularly when this person is on shift and adjusting your playing schedule is not really a feasible option. Do you:

A - Play the game and start tipping him or her
B - Suck it up and just live with the fact that you will generally be kicked off a list if this person notices you are on it
C - Start gathering up other people who will corroborate your facts, and then report to casino higher-ups

Thanks for any input.

Are you attentive enough to know this is happening 100%, or are you buried in music/video/games and might miss your name being called? I have never noticed this happening, but haven't been regular enough in the last 3 years to notice a trend (and have turned into a fish). Would you care to PM me the name so I can watch lists closer when I am around?

Have you contested it when you noticed you were dropped? I would probably just do that every time and raise a stink if necessary; I can't imagine it continuing to happen if the floor realizes you are on the ball and noticing.

Do you put yourself on low limit lists while waiting for high limit games? I've noticed the stupid 3 game limit seems to mean that if you sign up for 3 games in High, and then go sign up for an 8-16 game you get bumped from one or more of the high games.

I have actual grudge feuds with certain floors, but my problems with getting bumped seemed to happen in all shifts with all floors, so I assign blame to ****ty software.

No, I only ever sign up for 3 games at once. If there's a seat open in a different game I sit in it without using my card to sign in.

I get bumped off pretty much every single time this person is the floor and never when anyone else is.

I've felt like I was bumped down the 3-5 list a couple of times at TSR, and once was pretty sure my seat was given away at PLO. But had no idea of the 3 game limit so that might have been the issue in the latter.

I've never tipped the floor at TSR, but do it routinely in Vegas. Nothing big, just give them $20 to lock up the seat, then tell them to keep it when it comes up.

3-5 list isn't ran by high limit floor, so I doubt that would be the same issue.

That's what I figured - the PLO was different. But it is kind of strange when you sign in at the front desk for 3-5 and it shows 5 people waiting and you find yourself 7th or 8th on the list when you walk around and look at the screen a minute later. But whatever - I've never waited too long to get a seat.

The software is terrible. I get bumped off lists probably 5 times a week minimum. Sowmtimes I sign up and am the only name, look at board 2 minutes later and I'm off every list. It's highly likely that's the case and not some floor conspiracy

Can anyone attest to ever disappearing from the low limit board? I am pretty certain that has never happened to me.

If I'm right it should become obvious pretty quickly now that everyone will be paying attention to who the floor is when it happens. I'm fairly sure there are at least a few lurkers for each person that actually posts here.

What is with the weird shaped tables? They are like half a foot too long and half a foot too narrow. So if I am in the five seat I can't bet without splashing the pot and if I am in the 3 seat the dealer has to use some sort of rake instrument to get my chips. Do not want.

I agree with it being a software issue. I get knocked off lists all the time but I just go up and tell them I was bounced off the list and I should be under so and so and they always just put me back in where I tell them. never been an issue past that and they seem to be aware that it happens
