Funny this topic came up I was playing 2/3 last night and a floor man came up to me to get the cash for chips...I'm sure it's happened before but I just noticed it for the first time last night

Seemed very genuine and friendly and I know it's not their main job but they were just trying to make things run smoothly for a Friday night and I appreciate that

I have no problems with them and think they do a very nice job for such a big room

Here is a new nitty complaint I just heard, and shows a bit about the type of people this game is attracting. A nitty player who is a regular in the 8/16 O8 and has been playing the 20/40 OE game had this recent complaint to the floor:

He is upset that he isn't getting an equal number of O8 hands compared to Stud 8. There are always 9 hands of Stud 8 but not always 9 hands of O8, because of people walking, and he wanted the O8 hands to be counted out as well, which would involve the button not always starting/stopping in the same location. I loled inside, as this has never been a complaint that I am aware of in the other mixed games.

Afaik it has never really been a complaint. The button system saves the constant headache of counting hands, ensures minimum shenanngins, and gaurentees that players always get to play the button once (and only once) in all of the non-stud games.

It works so well that when people visit from Vegas/LA/etc they comment on what a genius system it is, and how much better it works in terms of game flow and people not getting multiple buttons in the games where the value of the button is huge.

I think I know who pope is talking about. If I'm right he's playing the game bec he's a winner at the 8-16 0/8 but is terrible (as expected) at Stud8. His complaint is understandable but as ILR says the way it's done now is best.

Seems like a good solution (and maybe easier anyway) would be to push the button around during the stud games as well. I I used to play in some home mix games where we did that.

Of course we were self-dealing there too. It could be confusing for the dealer between dealing first to seat 1 or to the left of the button.

That's one of the reasons why the stud buttons don't currently circulate, iirc

ATTENTION LAGTARDS:

I will be visiting CAZ the weekend before Easter, likely donating at 20-40, and will happily meet up for beers if anyone is interested. Inquire within.

His complaint is really silly, you get the same number of hands, the Stud8 hands just take twice as long.

But the more I play the OE the more I'm convinced they should play one game per down. It would both speed the game, and reduce dealer errors substantially.

I mentioned this idea to a reg, who pointed out that players would just walk on the game they don't like. But they already walk on the game they don't like!

In fact, switching to by the down is better because it makes walking far more obvious. They have to come back and play half the down of the game they don't like or the floor should pick them. And the floor can issue the worst offenders a warning they'll get picked up if they walk more than 10 minutes in that games round. The way things are now, they do walk and it's hard to track because it's not as obvious and people rarely say anything.

I think switching will in general make the games run much smoother because the 20 players are very inexperienced in managing buttons, and mix games in general, and usually don't help the dealer so there are just far too many misdeals and mistakes.

I'm not saying you will, but very easy to get "Omaha experts" that will sit, play down of Omaha, walk most of stud 8 round, play Omaha and then quit.

Looking to spend a few months in the southwest and will be playing a ton of hours of cash at Talking Stick. Cant find it on bravo. What are the max buy ins for the different stake levels, 2/5? 5/10? 10/25? How often do the bigger games run (weekdays and weekends?) and how many tables are there of each?
Thanks for the help

2/5 is 1k 5/10 is 2500. 5/10 runs a few times a week. remember that it is spread limit though, so most the biggest bet you can make is $500.

For anybody looking to play as big as 10-25NL I'd recommend not bothering to play in AZ.

The 5-10 500 max bet is an interesting game, just a little different than pure NL. Still see 2K pots, just a little different track to get there.
