After a couple years of playing 20-40 O/E twice a week at another casino, finally the came is now being spread and, very well attended on Sundays here. Yesterday, there were two full games with a list for at least ten hours. I'd estimate about 35 to 40 players went through the game yesterday. We had blue chip, brown chip, and even green chip players in the game at some point.

Red chip games are the backbone of the top section here with many of the players making the jump to brown or green occasionally/full time over the years. I have zero problem with brown/green chip players asking players in our game if they wanna play higher, how many do they need to start a new game, will you start a MM 3 handed, etc. But, soliciting the players they want in their game, while they are playing in ours by telling them that the O/E game is no good for them, that it's way too slow, too boring is not cool. It's about the same as me telling the 20 players that we don't want to leave they have no chance in that 40/75 game with that lineup, you should stay here.

Both may be true but, neither is right.

And your proposal to change this is? No talking allowed in the poker room?

I have no proposal. Just a comment. My only proposal is to add Ensure to the menu.

Agree, but can offer no solution. When regs try to recruit players to bigger games I find It embarrassing. I have no problems telling players a seat is available or a game is running, but when they disparage other games or players they sound as fake and insincere as they are.

Ante for E is $5 which I don't like but may have to play anyway. The lineup when I first saw it spread didn't look too inviting, tbh. Will keep an eye on it though.

Also, what did you expect the guys that play the 40 and 75 to do in the 20? They are going to auto try and get it bumped, some players to move up, start short, etc, there's no way they can help it.

You want the ante smaller? tsk tsk

Personally I like a $5 ante, especially if the game is getting short. What I don't like is a kill, especially in the stud portion. It really messes up the 3rd street action and changes it to a non-standard game.

Traditional ante for 20-40 is $3. Proportionally larger antes belong in much bigger games.

The game's played w/ a kill?

DC, THAT is the point exactly. I don't think of this as a problem begging for a solution, just bad form.

The $5 ante makes the game go much faster. I know, I know, $3 is traditional but, the times they are a changin

Reread my comment. I have no problem with this at all. You know I understand that.

I haven't been in for a while with Holidays and weekend tourneys kinda sucking lately, but has there been any movement or 'word on the street' in putting a long term TD and poker room manager in place?

Anything posted or hinted information about what 2014 tourney schedule will look like?

Ya 3/5 is dead. Everyone is solid.

Hopefully the red chip OE stays strong. Looks like it has a chance to pick up steam

played in the daily tourney on Thursday...122 players and busted out in 24th I think

had to listen to the old people at every one of my tables bitch and moan about the change in the day tourneys coming up soon where 10% of the field makes money and at that point the tourney is over apparently. So if 120 entries...play down to 12 people and tourney is stopped and chopped. IMO people shouldn't bitch about it and just not play it and they will cancel it asap as soon as the numbers drop.

played some 2-3 after busting the tourney and made a quick $350 profit. Was pretty surprised to find some good action at 2-4 PM as in my limited experience it's way tighter during the day.

Hi guys. I will be in Arizona to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon on Sunday. I am getting in 9 a.m. Friday and I'm excited to play poker all day and a good chunk of the night. I just have a couple questions.

1. How long do these daily tournaments usually run? I know they can vary but a general guideline would be helpful. I thought the daily tournament on Friday would be fun and then play cash the rest of my time there.
2. So you usually eat food at the table there huh?
3. Max bet $250 for the typical game, which after reading through the forum is either 1-3 or 2-3? Colorado has a max bet too; that's where I'm from. How are the games these days? Does it depend or are they generally loose? I expect them to be looser Friday night.
Heard great things about the room. Thanks for all the good info on the forum here.

It's been multiple years since I've played them, but the daily tourney is usually over by 4 or 4:30 from what I remember.

Yes, eating at the table is pretty easy and very normal.

It is 2/3 blind structure and the games obviously vary but are normal for the lowest 'NL' level. I don't think if I tell you they are the toughest in the world will stop you from checking them out. IT ALWAYS DEPENDS ON YOUR TABLE. I don't think any question tilts me more than "how soft or how loose is your lowest 'NL' game" You other two questions are acceptable.

Haha, thanks Pope, all that information is really helpful, even your tilted response to my last somewhat dumb question. Normal actually helps me a lot because if they were extra tight you'd probably tell me.
I've never played 2/3 before. Interesting. One quick question because I'm out of state: Is the max bet $250 at that level? Colorado is $100 max bet. Even with the $100, the games play like No Limit for the most part.

It is $300, same as the max buy-in. I've played about 200 hours of it (not much compared to my normal games, but still a decent sample) and never had the max bet limit come into play in a way that it would change strategy. Two people would have to be over $1.5k deep and get big hands against each other for the 300 max bet to be a hindrance over a normal sized bet for a situation.

These tourneys are most always chopped by players themselves once you make the money, it's hilarious to see 20+ people high fiving each other over quitting a mediocre win.

Except it's not that mediocre. It's 10x the buy-in minus juice. It's probably equivalent to 4th or 5th place pay of a normal tourney, assuming a hundred players.

Hi,

Is the poker room rate ($69) for the hotel the same no matter what day it is? I ask because some of the dates show different rates when I check on the Talking Stick website. For example, a room tonight would be $129 at the regular rate, while a room for 1/22/14 is $229.

Thanks!
