One of the dealers said that the jackpot rake of $2 is temporary and for all the football promotions in the fall and at some point it will be reduced down to $1. Don't know if it will actually happen though.

They're up $200,000 over the past 3 weeks in the promo fund. They don't need $400,00 for the football pools for crying out loud. The other day some random guy blurted out 'we should boycott this place!'. Unbelievable, they never before mentioned the rake and clueless is the way I prefer the players to be. Meanwhile the games are full at 8-16 where the JP drop is even worse. Bec the full drop comes out at $30 the 8-16 is the only raked game in the room where 2 small bets costs $6 instead of $3. That alone makes a button steal almost worthless unless you've got a very strong hand or the blinds are foldy. As if.

It also shows that price doesn't drive the market or the game would be at Gila, which it's not.

Well it's not exactly a competitive market. Gotta love the "tribal sovereignty" scam.

Both The Fort and Gila River are 15 minutes in either direction. 15 minutes for what would be thousands of dollars/yr for many players. And they won't drive the 15 minutes. Why? Bec the games aren't there. Why are the games not there? Bec they won't drive the 15 minutes. It's remarkable in it's way.

LOLz guys, screw casino AZ and go to Vegas.
At 2/5NL, MGM takes out the max rake of $4 only if the pot reaches $150
and NO jackpot drop. Yall getting raped over there.....

Quality advice. If you play once a year.

For those of us that actually play, you know, a few times a week, your advice doesn't do us much good. Unless you think the cost/time of a flight to and from Vegas to play everyday is more than we're getting screwed by in rake? Please clue us in to your calculations on this matter.

Inertia. It's what keeps the Bellagio poker room alive.

Every time I go to Gila I text myself not to go back because you have to sit for hours to get in a game above 4-8 LHE. I'm going back this week anyway.

You can't have a football promotion if you can't see the football score from the tables...

Last time I made sure to get there by 9:30am for the start of the first game. I ended up leaving at 11:30, fml.

How do paying the blinds work if you switch seats at a table? I was in a 4/8 game and was seated in one of the side seats that you can't really see the cards from. I was dealt 1 or 2 hands and then someone from one of the closer seats moves and I move to that seat. I was then UTG so I told the dealer "wait until the button passes to deal me in." So I wait a few hands so that the button passes and get dealt in. Then a guy complains to the dealer that I should pay the small and big blind and the dealer makes me pay. I thought of calling the floor but didn't want to stop a casual 4/8 game and get everyone annoyed at me. I don't think the dealer was going to make me pay until that guy complained but I thought he was out of line. Thoughts? Was I actually supposed to pay the blinds if I move to UTG and wait until the button passes?

If you were already playing and you move to the blinds and you have yet to pay the blinds, you need to pay them or get up, you don't get to wait for the blinds again since you were in the game already.

the best rule is that if you move away from the big blind you wait that many hands that you got the benefit of before you are dealt in.

I don't learn. I just slaughtered [ran hot for half of my 15 hours] their 4-8 game. Thanks to the rear-ending rake and my chronic tipping, my profit turned out to be half of my record win of 1k at the Foxwoods 4-8.

You can "game" the blinds at CAZ (and other local casinos). If you value your blinds more than your location at the table, you can move forward clockwise pretty much every time a seat opens here. I see a few people who actively engage in using this feature.

fwiw:

Gila river - If you move more than 3 active players away from the blinds, you're posting a big blind.

Harrah's - No restriction on moving seats ever.

I dunno how it works in the other games, but in the 5/10spread if you move away from the blinds you have to wait the equivalent amount of hands before you can play, or you have to post.

That's bec it's a time game. In the rake games you can move and don't have to wait/post.

the blinds are payment in advance for the round of hands. when the house lets someone move ahead it is the equivalent to stealing that money from the other players.
the only way to stop it is to complain a lot or get together and when someone moves ahead that those in front of him not post their blinds and wait for the button to pass. this way he gets no free hands.

Thank you, Gentlemen. Updating my mental notes.

I think the CAZ change is in the spread-limit era. I'm fairly sure you could move any number of seats in the previous fixed limit era. Any limit player care to confirm that it's still the same way?
