If the nightly tournaments introduced antes I might play in one occasionally. I feel they start out semi-deep but turn shallow really quickly. For example, I ran the absolute hottest I've ever run in one of these. Knocked out like 5 people, ballooned my stack, and an hour and a half later I've played one meaningful pot and all of a sudden 25k chips (250BBs at 50/100) becomes 25 BBs (500/1k).

Haven't played the deepstack tourney, but plan to.

They should model their weekend tournaments similar to the Venetian Deepstacks and everyone will be abundantly happy, except for the fish who hate tournaments longer than 5 hours long.

10k in chips is plenty to start for the $340, just don't skip so many levels. 6/12 to 1/2k is a ******ed jump.

I would love if the TDs saw this thread and took it as constructive criticism and maybe incorporate some of our ideas into their brand of tournaments.

I paid attention to this yesterday and saw just how widely this is being abused in the 20 game. By both known angle shooters and those you would not expect. It's simply unfair.

The problem is how to distinguish between two situations. First, you are in the MM and see someone racking up in the main game. You are next to move. You are UTG and then ask for a missed blind or just start to move yourself while you wait for your seat to open. I think most of us have done this and that it would not be considered abuse.

Contrast this with a couple of different scenarios. You are next up and it's 4:55 and you take a missed blind because you know at least one seat will open when time is due at 5. Or you have been on the phone, eating dinner or walking for 15+ minutes and missed multiple orbits. These all seem like angles. You've missed blinds that you should have paid. Allowing these players to come in behind for free is as ridiculous as the seat changing rules in the low limit games.

It would not be difficult for the floor to inform the new dealers that players have to post both blinds in the new game when players are moved.

The current system is being totally abused by those who knew the loophole including casino employees playing in the games. It needs to change. I brought it up to several floor and dealers yesterday but sadly expect no resolution- though I was told that it would be brought up in "the next meeting."

I believe you, but I just haven't seen it myself. Honestly I have hardly ever seen the floor moving the chips of a walking player, and many of the times I have seen it, the player doesn't get back in time to take advantage of his free round.

Even if I did see it though, I doubt it would bother me, as it really doesn't hurt me.
Honestly I don't really see why it would bother anyone else unless they really hated playing short. If you really think they are making such a profit by doing it, just do it yourself.

I abuse it in a way that I would also call being observant. If I know I am next up and see someone getting up I will:

a) Ask to be dealt out when it is my BB
b) Keep my head down until it gets to my BB to get as many 'free' hands as possible and ignore people from the next table telling me to move, letting the floor do their job (until it is my BB, then I will go ask them if I should move).

I never purposely walk at xx:55 expecting someone to leave, nor have I ever looked for others who do that. I am actually the opposite and I try to take my breaks in the middle of downs so my time isn't collected incorrectly or my chips get moved without my knowledge.

I agree it's difficult to enforce, but here's how I would distinguish situations. If you have a missed blind it carries over, plan and simple. So if you see there's an open
Seat you know your first up and you take it
On your own after playing utg hand, that's fine. Once you ask for a big blind Ecause you see somebody racking up or whatever then no free hands

One main reason this is a prolem is if the must move is kind of tough and main game is good. Player determines they can't beat feeder but can beat main game so they just walk whole time in feeder then get 7 free hands in main game? I think rules should favor players wiling to gamble (although I recognize the bias in that there would never be a 20 game I would quit).

Eh I guess I could be more sympathetic to this fact as well but I have to say the seat changing among certain higher stakes regs is getting pretty ridiculous.

It seems to me that in the 20 game here the main game is almost always not as good as the must move anyway though.

I am curious about the seat changing issue as well. Do you think this is a problem in the 20 game or only the higher games, and why is it a probem?

More in the 20 game. But it def exists in the higher games as well. The problem is that everyone knows exactly what it means when player x, who counts every cent of ev follow player y, who plays recreationally, around the table. It gives the game a predatory vibe and not the fun gambling feel that we should strive for.

Not sure why it's such a problem in the 20. Maybe there are a lot of mediocre playerswho think they need every edge to beat the game. Maybe they're just going for every dollar they can get. I'm of the opinion that, either way, they're better off not changing.

I do seat select pretty aggressively myself; I don't follow any particular player(s) around, but I do definitely try to get to the left of the looser players and the right of the tighter ones. I never have thought anyone would think I was targeting them though (and I even chop, which mot of the more aggressive players don't do).

I dunno who you are but players def notice frequent seat changers and care way more about that than if you chop, for example.

That's funny, because the only frequent seat changers I ever notice are the terrible players whom I assume are looking for their "lucky seat".

Has anyone else had trouble staying checked in to the system here lately? For maybe the last 6 weeks, about half the times I play here, after a few hours I go to hit continue at one of the kiosks and I'm not even checked in? It has never been more than 8 hours. Sometimes I have been playing more than one game, but sometimes just one for several hours.

For the longest time, I regularly got the vouchers approx every 8 hours per my mental tracking. Lately I've been getting skipped and then having it print out two at a time after 16 or whatever hours.

It seems the system has reverted back to its old self. It used to do **** like that before you got here and people were always complaining and you could sometimes just go to the floor and ask for a food voucher since the system was unreliable.

Oops! Well, they aren't mentioned in any of the ads, and I have asked several regulars about it over the last few weeks and was told by everyone that it was just one tournament.
