Well, usually in the summer months leading up to football season and football promotions, they moved to 3/2 drop from 4/1. But hey, why go to 3/2 when the suckers will still be around for 4/2.

The promotion fund has increased appx $175,000 ,over the past 2 weeks, money striped right out of the local poker economy. I don't think 'they' think about what this means at all.

They must be getting returns on their accounts than I am then...

Did someplace set a new BBJ record that they need to take back?

Well I got to play at the Casino AZ Poker Room. Action is Very Good, tables and dealers good. Comp system INOP what a friggin Joke, played 6 days and had to buy all my food! Lighting at about half the tables I played on SUCKED. Service for food and drinks good to very bad. The lists for the games was run good they need a couple of other monitors for the lists so if your playing in one game and trying to get into another so you have an idea of how it's going. The $2 Jack Pot is flippin RIP OFF they should run a full Monte Carlo board 24/7 for the $2 JP drop. Many other places do so with just a $1 JP drop.

The players were nice enough for the most part. One young guy had to play the TV Hollywood Poker part. He took so long on each decision he slowed the game down to a crawl and yet he still played bad.

All in all I enjoyed the playing there.

remember the story about the straw that broke the camels back. that is what will happen as they push up the rake to aid promotions.

Just got back from Casino AZ. Played 4/8 O/8, absolutely love that game. I did witness some soft play amongst regulars against each other, but other than that thought the game played square. Won a splashpot, but hate the $2 jackpot drop. Agree with the comment made about the TV size. Also the seat changing amongst players is the most annoying thing ever. I can see changing seats once in a while, but they need to draw the line somewhere. There was one guy at the table that played at 5 different spots over the course of a 6 hour session.

+338 for session.

I wonder whats going to happen to the $2 jackpot drop now that the Grand opening of the casino has been canceled. They still can not pass fire code due to some leak in vacuum system for sprinklers. The are gonna lose a huge convention over 1000 people scheduled for June. The increased jackpot rake was for all the big promotions they were going to hold during the Grand Opening.

Somebody is gonna get fired over this snafu, I would bet on it.

They're going to continue the extra dollar and keep the money they raked, LDO.

All money on jackpot drops must be given back to the customer 100% the casino never gets to keep it. They just hold onto it for a while.

The self-serve slot cashout machines don't vend coins so if you have a ticket w/ change you have to go to the cage. So far I'm up ~$2 in abandoned tickets.

Like including high limit games that don't contribute jackpot drop in the football pools? What's wrong with that

I think I heard a rumour of basketball pools, though that sounds a little late for this season.

Yeah, anyone who's been at CAZ in the middle of the night when they update the jackpot numbers on the board recognizes instantly that about, oh, a quarter of the jackpot money went into jackpot -- and the rest went to "promotions."

There's a sheet listing the basketball pools. Much will depend on how deep into the playoffs the games go.

Max. I don't have the rake schedule memorized but it's pretty much 10% of the first $40 in the pot in dollar increments -- plus $2 worth of jackpot.

Yeah this is one of those fallacies that makes me nuts. Everyone is paying the drop for the 'jackpot' when in reality the 'promotions' could be a whole bunch of stuff that you would never ever have a shot of hitting.

But, like I have told you SEVERAL times, the casino keeps none of that $$$. Mind you, they certainly can find byzantine ways to return it to the players, but they certainly don't, and almost certainly by law, can't, keep a % for themselves.

Not sure about AZ, but in many places they can retain a distribution fee percentage.

Oh, and guess who's making interest on the 300 grand or whatever while it's held in "trust" indefinitely. It's not the players.

Check the total promotional fund even after the jackpot hits. It's huge. Always. Why players in AZ have tolerated this for years I have no idea.

Maybe if a ton of people complain to the floor staff or fill out those comment cards about the rake they'll do something about it?

Folks don't strike me here as being very indignant.

And they do things like adding money to tourneys from the promotion fund then take a higher rake. So the amount in the prize pool is the same, but they are basically converting jackpot money to house money each tourney.

Right pope. That's another one that flies under the radar. Take money from the cash players, give it to tourney players, and charge more juice to get a crack at it.
