This sounds ok, but I am a bit suspicious about signing up for a room at the regular rate and then just hoping everything goes without a hitch later. Has anyone here done this process before and could tell me how smoothly it goes?

Also I am curious as to how much poker one has to play to get discounted rooms or any special offers. I have played aabout 140 hours over a 2 month period, mostly in the 20/40 game; I would have guessed that would be enough to get some kind of offers.
It works just like they say, except they didnt tell you about the players club card you will need.
If you don't have one, sign up for a players card when you arrive.
Check into the hotel (they will quote the regular rate)

Use the players cards to swipe in and sign up for games, you are now " On the clock".
You must re-swipe and hit the "continue play" button within 8 hours of the original/last swipe or the system logs you out and you lose that time.

One you have played (4-6) hours ( let they know you will be playing more as well, take your players card to the shift supervisor in the poker room and let them know you already have a room, would like the players rate.

The shift manager will swipe the card to check that you have the hours, then call the front deck and the rate will be changed.

Book the room now so you have one locked up, if you wait, depending on when you come, they may be sold out.

I always respect the advice of Ubin but on high volume nights, this doesn't always work as a friend of mine who plays 20 twelve hours a day during his stay found out. They would NOT give him Saturday night at the poker rate.

This is the kind of thing I am worried about; I wonder why places handle things like this anyway?

If you are going to check into this anyway, maybe you could try to get another question of mine answered. I may be interested in booking one of the packages that includes the hotel stay plus a spa treatment. The total is about $50 more than just the room rate, so money is saved with the package. Wondering if I could book that, then get the poker rate, and get the same rate reduction from the package amount that I would from just the room. I'm not explaining this very well, but I hope you understand what I mean.

I played the Wednesday night $115 + $15 NLHE tournament last night. At 7:15, tournament start, we had 93 registered which ballooned to 149 by the third level. I busted just before the first break at the 200/400 level when there were about 100 left.

The room was packed with waiting lists for nearly every game.

i think you are asking if you can get the same % discount on the spa package as well..
I have never heard of a discount discount on anything other than the room.

Well, not the same percentage discount, but the same total discount.
For example, if regular rate is $200 and poker rate is $70. Room plus spa package is $250, could I get poker rate total of $120? Same total $130 discount, but still get the benefit of the package.

So how are the 50.00 buy-in + $10.00 11:15 am tournaments?

I may play one on Tuesday or Thursday when I visit February 3-10.
Otherwise I'll just play Omaha.

Is there anything interesting (poker-wise) going on that week?

So the spa price stays the same basically. i don't think there is an issue with that, they are going to discount the room less because you have a package attached to it.

I was incorrect, because it is part of an already discounted packge the room rate will not be adjusted. ( this came from the Hotel desk)
Poker room rate is 69.00 a night right now, likely to change sometime in March.( 79-89).
Your best bet is to compare the spa package/straight room rate discount versus a room rate/no spa discount for the services you want for the time you stay.

Not sure what happened to your friend, i asked the shift manager if there were any blackout times( I.E weekends or Holidays) where the room rate wont/cant be applied. The answer was not "off hand", but you must already have the room booked for the nights you wish to stay, and the cumulative hours per day of play( tracked by the players card system)

The information provided here(say) is for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as absolute fact. Circumstances can vary.

Does anyone know if the casino offers RFB + golf comps (or discoubts) for table game players? Anyone have a good host?

I'm planning a potential trip for a group of guys, some of whom will gamble it up in the pit (green and black chip players) and some whom will be playing lots of poker and some of whom will do both.

Also, does the casino spread ultimate Texas hold em or bonus?

Comps are awful for pit games here. I get like 2-4 free rooms a month but think your drawing close to dead for RFB, at least if your only playing green and black chip pit games.

An fyi for those that didn't know, like me: There are 2 cell phone charging stations. One at the high limit section and one at the poker office. They've hooked up many jacks for various phones (one of them fit my very old droid) and, it worked better than the one I have at home. Wish I'd known this long ago. I got a full charge in 40 minutes or so as opposed to hours at home.

I'll be in Phoenix next week and playing the $300 deep stack on Saturday. Any out of the ordinary room rules going on?

I don't play the tourneys but I just want to say that you should get there EARLY if today's tourney is any indication. I got to the room ~2pm and had to wait a while until tables became available. I was told that there were 100(!) alternates, ppl that were willing to buy in at the 3rd level and even I know that that has got to be horrible.

Yep, they had either 31 or 32 tables for the tourney (310-320 players) yet 449 entered...

How are the games on Sunday mornings? Mostly older nits or some action?

the action should be pretty wild starting tonight through the superbowl this weekend with the golf tournament in town just down the road.

anyone see any pga pro's or celebs yet? phelps was in town for the pro-am yesterday so I was thinking he might have swung over to talking stick for some poker?

Considering Phelps requested to play in Bobby's Room (playing a smaller limit than they ever spread in there) while at Bellagio, I doubt he would come to Casino AZ to play 5/10 spread max 500.

he obviously should play some 250-500 limit then

I learned that the cash we are racking up at the rate of $0.10 per hour expires in one year. If you pay for something with your players card, the comupter knows to use the oldest e-dimes first.

I think it's 20 cents, wheeeeeeeee, and we can get cash for it. I plan on cashing out every few months just to be safe.

Yep, I try to remember every 6 months.

Every month and they would be like "Sorry sir, we can't cash out your $8.40 yet, it must be in $10 increments"
