If there is a good PLO game running may need to make a golf/baseball trip in march. How does the restriction for spread limit work?
Any LHE above 20/40?

Max bet of $500, not sure if it is played as pot limit restricting bet sizing before it reaches the max, or if it is NL so the dealer doesn't have to keep track of the pot. I've never played it.

Very rarely, mainly mixed games above 20/40. But 20/40 is very healthy.

it actually doesn't matter to much @ 10-20. There's always 100 in pot so once somebody c-bets flop a player would almost always be able to raise 500 even if there was a pot limit restriction in place, only difference is occasionally you open for 100 and somebody makes it +500 with AA when they would only be able to make it 280 if it were pot limit.

They really need to expand the poker room. I was there saturday for the tourney, about ~360 players, which eats up 75% of the available tables. The room just seems overloaded imo. Most lists had 40+ players on it, some almost 100 deep.

They are turning away fish from the tables. The regs are there 24/7 for the football promos, but fish might not show up until later. Fish sees the list 40 people deep and goes to play pit games rather than wait an hour for a game.

Not as bad as Casino del Sol in Tucson last night - got there at 7pm, they were running a "celebrity tourney" and only had one table open for cash - a 1-2 NLH. We had 12 names on the 2-5 list and never did start it (my guess is they did not want to break the other smaller games that did eventually start). Very frustrating - I've come to the conclusion that the evening shift manager does not want to run the 2-5. So much for that - see you guys at CAZ.

Well they did remove 3 or 4 tables or whatever to have the non-smoking blackjack. Unless those are never used, I doubt a poker table that is only used during the very peak times during popular tourneys or big sporting events is worth more to the casino than the blackjack tables.

If they are going to have a very big tournament, they should just have an extra room to put some temporary tables in, like a lot of other casinos do.

I tried to go on the last Saturday of November; 3/4 of the tables were filled with tournament players, and there were about 50 more people standing around who they were going to seat as people busted, so that the tables wouldn't even be combining anytime soon. It looked like it would be hours until I got in, so I just left.

At least I had thought that I would only need to worry about this on the last Saturday of the month and pay attention to that; it is quite discouraging to know that it could happen just about any time.

I went there today for the football promo. Showed up 15 mins before game and was off the screen on all the lists. Went to Fort to play instead.

Two questions;

1. How are the tournaments that they hold such as the super bounty mentioned (payouts, structure etc)? I've played their daily, and it's an all in fest after the first break.

2. Is there any talks of having perhaps a wsop circuit or an actual series? AZ lacks this, and I wish they would have a series like every card room does down here in LA

The only monthly tourney I will play is the super deepstack or whatever (the $300 one). It has a decent structure, and it has antes! If a tourney doesn't have antes, the structure just can't be good.

They have never had a series here, and never had talks of it. Back when the NAPT was starting out, and they were going to casinos not affiliated with the WPT, I was hoping we had a chance, but I don't think anyone in management desires having a series, they are happy with it as is.

They did expand the State Championship this year. Previous years it was just the one tourney, the Championship. This year that had 4 prelims with buy-ins of $100, $200, $300, $500 (if my memory is correct). So at least that is a step in the right direction.

Good to hear about state championship having prelims... I really hope they start having series out there. If I move back to Arizona, I will miss playing these out here. Btw I recognize your name from Cazpoker.

I'm look for advice on a hotel First week of February. $100/night or less.
I'll be working at ASU some, so between ASU and Talking Stick would be good.
Last time I stayed at "Hospitality Suite Resort" near N Scottsdale Rd and McKellips.
It was fine, but I think I could do better and cheaper. Got to keep Hotel and rental car
under $1,000 for 7 nights.

Is it the same as last year with one rebuy and one add-on?

I will probably play it, did pretty decent last year.

They aren't advertising it very well, I've had my eye out for it, played it last year, am in the poker room twice a week, and this is the first I've heard they are having it again.

Pretty sure they've had a rather large sign out in front of the poker room for like a month now. If you park in the front and use the side door you'd never see it.

I'm curious how many runners the Tuesday and Wednesday $115 +$15 tournaments get on average. I was thinking about heading to TSR tonight but thought I might be better off waiting for the Last Saturday of the Month tournament on the 26th.

I tried searching this thread but didn't find anything.

I was playing last night, but didn't watch the tourney that closely. I would say in the 80-100 range is a pretty safe bet.

Just thought I would drop this in here. I found this casino 2 weeks ago during my trip to Scottsdale during the divisional round of NFL playoffs.

First thought was holy **** there are a lot of people in here. I love the size of the poker room. I was disappointed to find out they were running a big tournament on a Saturday during NFL playoff games. But I was able to get a 1/3 seat in about 1 hour. The tables are 9 tops, which are better than 10 imo. The layout of the room is great. The TV situation is excellent. Most of the dealers were quite friendly. The players were friendly (and horrible too!). I ordered a stir-fry, which was pretty good as well. I haven't played in rooms where you have to eat at the table and can't get up for more than 10 minutes, but I actually really enjoyed it.

Will definitely come back on my next visit.

I've been thinking about booking a room at the hotel; have been told by some regulars that they get offers for discounted rooms. I haven't received any offers, but I called anyway and was directed to the poker room. They told me I could get a discounted casino rate if I play 8 hours when I stay there, but that I first would have to book a room at the regular rate, then after I have played several hours, talk to the poker room supervisor who will call the hotel to get my discount.

This sounds ok, but I am a bit suspicious about signing up for a room at the regular rate and then just hoping everything goes without a hitch later. Has anyone here done this process before and could tell me how smoothly it goes?

Also I am curious as to how much poker one has to play to get discounted rooms or any special offers. I have played aabout 140 hours over a 2 month period, mostly in the 20/40 game; I would have guessed that would be enough to get some kind of offers.
