From what I know, he is still enrolled in ASU for the fall so I bet he is if he is playing at all. That said, I haven't seen him there, but I don't frequent the spread limit games so it is less likely I stumble across him.

Haven't seen him back ( except for once) since the final table was decided.

^^^ yeah, he didn't seem exactly like a ladies man...but a few dollars and some confidence and he could have a blast at ASU for the rest of his time there!

So long souped-up BBJ, it's just football promos for the next while. Heard 2 guys in the men's room saying that they're headed back to Gila River where Aces cracked runs all day. So much for thinking that players don't move to where they think the better promos are.

Looks like Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon Ducks will be playing with us around NYD. We just had Oregon and they more or less played good poker. I doubt KSU fans will be donking big money out. But it's not a bad matchup altogether, should be a good football game too.

Looking forward to joining the action out there. I was in Phoenix area last week for a pair of job interviews and got the one job. Will be driving out next week cross country for orientation next Friday morning. My cousins wife works in one of the resturants there at TSR and I went in and checked out the card room as a gawker briefly since I didnt have the roll to sit down due to travel expenses but I did manage to run $20 in the quarter slots up to $80 in less then 10 mins and cashed out. Pretty good heater.. Anyway will be nice to play live again as I havent been able to since leaving the Washington DC area and going to Charlestown WV. I play mostly NLHE but have had some decent luck at Limit as well. Generally like cash vs tourneys as like golf cash is the roll and tourneys are generally extra fun money.

Question for the LHE players in here. I'm wanting to start playing some LHE so I'm comfortable with something besides just NLHE. Is the 4/8 game just a no foldem holdem game or is there actually some learning to be done there? Or do I have to jump into 8/16 to start finding "real" poker?

And no, I'm not sitting at the 20/40 and 40/80 with you guys to learn the game :-)

I play the 8-16. A man holding a rack of whites came up to me just the other day, explained that he played 4-8 and wanted to try 8-16, and asked what the difference was. I answered 'different colored chips.' I haven't seen 'real poker' in years and if I did I'd leave the game. IOW, much of the time these are 'seal-belt' games. Strap in and take the ride and be sure you're not playing scared money.

Thanks. I may have to start dabbling around and getting my feet wet with the limit games.

Hello everyone. So I've lived in California the last 2 years and we might be moving back to Arizona in the next couple of months. I used to play 1/2 and 2/5 spread back in the tents, and was wondering how the games are now? Coming from CA I'm going to miss no limit, but the spread I heard are a bit higher than before ($100). What are the spreads and buy ins for the NL games out there?

1/2 is now 2/3 100 to 300.

3/5 is now 300 to 1,000.

Just to clarify, the max bet is NOT a cap on pot size.
These spread games are played by limit rules.
If i bet 500 you can raise it to 1000 and there are still two raises left.
An all in raise of half or more re-opens the betting.
If heads-up before the cap is reached then the cap on raises is removed.

Had a dealer threaten to call time on a player at 2/3 today. I've never seen anything like that before.

Hmm, one of our dealers yesterday said "do something, guys" 5 seconds after dealing the turn card when the first guy to act was clearly thinking about his decision. I wonder if it was the same one.

I disagree about players going where the promos are best. For the last couple months, the Fort has been giving out $100 to anyone who plays 7+ hours on a weekday, plus $100 AA cracked, plus $3.13 EV football paylay cards for every hour of play. This is over $20 in EV per hour if you are a break-even player sans promotions. Yet, their games do not seem to have not grown at all as a result.
