The etiquette at CAZ is to NEVER raise the Ace on the turn. I've seen ppl open muck qualifiers when that happens.

I literally said what I said out loud to this guy when he raised that turn, and then I know that I have to pay one bet in this jackpot game but I also know that longterm I will use the info vs that player so I don't mind spewing a bet like that short term, and of course for the shot at the jackpot... After he was done high-fiving people I walked around the table to him and told him that if he wants to win a jackpot in the future NEVER raise that spot, cuz every single nit and cheap old timer will insta-muck the qualifier!!

Actually its just in time for my 6 week run in Vegas, then after the WSOP we will see if I still have a roll to get into the 20/40!

So that means you raise EVERY paired ace?

Which day? Either is fine. I would pick whichever gives you the most time to play personally.

i'm just curious if the games are different. like if there are games that run on sat that don't run on friday or vice versa. website doesn't have much info regarding games offered and the last couple pages of this thread were all BBJ related. i'd like to play mid-stakes LHE. or if there's some mix games or O8 running.

it's prolly gonna be poker one day and baseball the other.

You'll have 8/16, 20/40, 2/3, 3/5, and 8/16 Omaha anytime you go between 10am and midnight both days.

Mixed games run at 40/80 and higher fairly regularly those days as well. 20/40 mixed is a random occurance based on who is around. Three or four weeks ago it was going on a Fri evening.

I have a theory that the 2/3 is actually better than the 3/5 as too many nits stink up the latter.

5/10 runs inconsistently. Mostly regs playing a visitor.

I am 100% on board with that theory, but it could be because I am not good enough NL player against decent players to be able to win at 3/5. My hugely exploitable style doesn't run over the table like it does at 2/3.

hit up the 2/3 for a few hours this evening...had the pleasure of getting seated at a table with old gentlemen who is there everyday who can't read the cards and has to have the dealer read them out loud...

he proceed to drop about $1200 in the couple hours that I was there, guy was just handing over his money on middle pair, etc. good times.

'Blind Man Mo' I call him. He can see better than he lets on, but still plays terribly.

yeah I figured that, but I always see him there so I would assume he was decent...he was paying off so hard I probably shouldn't have left

This is pretty spot on Pope... even the decent 2/3 players take a while to adjust to you then they do it incorrectly at first(as I personally witnessed happen when we played 1 session together)... in 3/5, they will react to you immediately and are very willing to put in chips preflop and postflop so they are much more difficult to be 'run over' but can very easily be value towned after just a few minutes of your style, so just be prepared to switch gears very quickly and count your winnings!!

I really do think the big TVs in the center add to the room and give it a different feel from other poker rooms. I am liking it more and more.

I agree... It's growing on me... after entering a couple rooms in Vegas and AC over the last month when I came back to CAZ I realized I like the setup of this room more than most out there...

The thing that is missing is the intimate feel that you get in a room like the Wynn (or even Gila River to a certain extent). I think the Wynn is my favorite room from a layout/feel. Obviously as a limit player it doesn't provide me any games to play.

I think the intimate feel is helped with nicer chairs and maybe less open space but I think outside of Vegas not many rooms are as nice as CAZ.... With that being said I wish the table felt was changed more often and would be nice to have a true seperation area for tournament play vs cash play and also a "final table" area that can be used for high limit mixed games when not being used for tournaments to me would be some nice flare to help improve the room. Borgota in AC has a roped off elevated floor for the high limits and final table which I always thought added more for the average player.... (Which to be honest I am tired of playing the regular's so anything to get more average/bar/random players in CAZ the better..)

I am going to be playing the Wynn a lot in two weeks so I will soak up that intimate feel for ya Pope!
