and of all people I'd expect The Pope to be a bit more understanding than this..

This situation could never have been PLANNED FOR, by anyone.

But rules and protocols have to be in place for a facility to obtain a gaming license and maintain it, @talking stick has done this.

@talkingstick is the best operated/updated license holder in the "valley".
I prefer not to play anywhere else but there in Phoenix area tbh.

So, IF YOU think it's a "poopshow" and dont like scat, DONT GO
we won't notice you aren't there...
and from the sounds of it you'll be a much happier person...

Now, on to the notion, or idea that all of you complainers/trolls aka losing players that want there money back after busting day1a.
You know who you are..
(Umm wasn't me..)

So, the bagged stacks, of which, there were probably like 80 total bagged stacks that would get refunded from day1a ?
Umm sure ok...
ITS GAMBLING
Not Guaranteeing...

The players that busted should not be refunded.
THEY GAMBLED... THEY LOST
harsh reality, sorry not sorry?
No Refunds and No Whining

That remaining prizepool after the bagged stack refunds, aka FREEROLL, should go into the prizepool for the championship and effectively make day1a become day1X

with the rescheduled day1b day1c day1d at the next Friday/Saturday/Sunday after the casino reopens. Possibly rescheduled for this weekend....
who knows, it's raining where I am in the north valley and has been for the last hour atm...

If you're a real gambler, like you keep trying to tell yourself, then you should already understand that this is the best and only way to proceed.
Because you would see that it will increase the prize pool, have more overall entries, and be a better GAMBLE, GAMBLERS....

So, watching this poopshow here from my hospital bed thinking I was gonna miss the state championship with surgeries 2 years in a row was fun and all...

But nope, not now.
Because of this act of God,

I GET to GAMBLE

See you real poker players at the rescheduled event...
How do you know that this situation couldn't be planned for? I don't know where the blame lies, but somebody goofed. If this was a 9.0 earthquake or a category 5 hurricane that would be an "act of God" and certainly could not have been planned for. Monsoons happen every year at this time. Some are more harsh than others. You would think the planners of the resort would have anticipated the most catastrophic scenario. This is something that simply can't happen to such a large operation. I've never heard of anything like this anywhere.

Somebody goofed!

Especially because this building was not put up in the 1920's, it was just a few years ago.

How long did it take to build? I don't remember the timing, but it seemed quicker than I expected.

Actually you don't construct to withstand the most catastrophic scenario. You weigh probabilities and severity and costs.

It may be that someone here "goofed". Or it may be that the combination of events and circumstances here were exceptional and not to be planned for. It's also possible that some outside factor changed since the design and construction.

Yeah, they have this thing in AZ called the "100 year flood". Planning only for that would be really stupid, because even if it only happened every 100 years, it could happen next year. Not to mention Tucson had TWO 100 year floods just a few years apart and I'm pretty sure it was before CAZ was built.

The rumor mill is just flying! - spent a couple days out there and i heard maybe 10 different stories/opening possibilities.

My favorite rumor was that when the casino was originally built the contractor didn't use the right cement. Apparently the casino management or whoever found this out when it happenned and sued the contractor - they wont the suit got paid and then didn't fix the issue. Now the insurance company won't cover it as a result and they may have to build an entirely new casino.

Seems like there is a non-zero chance that it is a complete re-build which is just insane...

Let me do the best I will try to alleviate some concerns although I know some of this news isn't going to make some folks feel better.. My Cousins wife works at TSR in Culinary as one of the managers and the information she has been given is this..

1. Yes there is major damage to the casino primarily to the electrical system which was essentially destroyed when the service tunnels were flooded due to monsoon storms earlier this month.. Some have speculated well Monsoon happens every year yes this is true but this year has been especially wet especially for the East Valley (areas East of AZ 51).. The Concrete issue is secondary to the electrical issue as the transformers were destroyed as well as both generators

2. The plan is now to POTENTIALLY reopen on a limited basis around Oct 1 (I suspect that means probably Casino only no hotel or other amenities).. They've been also told the goal is targeting full return to service window is anywhere from Thanksgiving to New Years..

I have no reason to doubt the veracity of this information as its coming from an actual employee of TSR..

There really is no excuse. This is a friggin' Indian casino. The tribe has been living there for hundreds of years. It's not like they were a bunch of investors from Ohio that built a casino and said "who knew it rains in the desert?".

Tentatively September 24th is a date that is coming up in rumors now, supposedly based on what a culinary manager was texted.

Again. All rumor. Zero fact. I take no responsibility.

Happen to be in the Scottsdale area and was planning to play at TS. Sounds like that won’t happen now. Is there anywhere else in AZ that spreads Mid Limit hold em or mixed and is worth playing?

Games have moved to Wild Horse in Chandler, which is about 30 min from TSR. And yes they are worth playing

That's because I know directions down there also!

I am enjoying trolling CAZ on Twitter. They keep trying to advertise their closed property, which seems super strange to do, like this:

When Talking Stick re-opens we all have to spread out and ask everyone w/ a chance of knowing what actually happened. Maybe we can ferret out the truth including me being told that they have to wait for generators to come from Germany, ffs.
