Even good dealers make mistakes. After several thousand hands stuff just happens. It is always the players responsibility to protect his hand. Especially in a room with below average dealers. A few of the regular dealers are great. It is just the bad dealers are really bad. There is very little middle ground. Many of the dealers would not be allowed to touch cards at other casinos. One night of video review and they would be reassigned to another job. I believe much of this comes from a lack of leadership in the room. The brushes need to pay closer attention and actually tell the dealers what they are doing wrong. Be more active in the actual game. With only five dealt tables during regular operation this should not be a problem.
Of course this is assuming the floor people have an actual understanding of the rules and flow of the game. Many of the fill ins from down stairs just pass the time and wait until they are relieved. Of course with the digital tables it is not exactly a taxing job, but I feel there is a certain level of neglect in the 2/5 game. It seems like a free for all with very little oversight.
Overall I enjoy the room and appreciate the staff. I do feel at times there is too much attention on cell phones at the table and not enough focus on the actual game which suffers when bad dealers are not supervised. A few rotten apples ruins the bushel. I know a few good players who are already driving an extra three hours to avoid the inconsistency. We are playing for real money.
