I think the fox and mhgn have a contract for no competition. They wouldn’t have a reason to continue a deal if CT allowed a Bridgeport casino run by a competitor

I think the east Windsor casino that Foxwoods and Mohegan is trying to open also violates that pact though

I didnt think so- thought it would be run jointly by them without negating their deal with the state- they both get to expand

There has also been a tribe, from Kent I think, that has been trying to get the right to build in Bridgeport area for years. Even if they should have that right, I don’t think the state would ever let them have the power to decide this. I think they wont be recognized by the state in whatever way needed.

Under federal law, Indian tribes can offer any gaming on their lands without state revenue-sharing for any game the state allows to anyone within that state. If the State of CT grants a license to MGM for games within CT, the tribes no longer have to pay part of their revenue for those same games under either their current compact or any new compact.

States can negotiate compacts for revenue-sharing from Indian gaming within their state, for any games which are granted exclusively to the tribe(s). They cannot get revenue-sharing for gaming without some sort of exclusivity, which might include games that only the tribe can offer, or possibly stakes only the tribe can offer. Any compact terms have to be approved by the federal government.

Allowing the tribes to expand to new facilities within the state may or may not be allowed under a current compact, but would not be grounds for ceasing revenue-sharing with the state. It might require negotiation of a new or revised compact. The same goes for granting in-state gaming to a different tribe, as long as that tribe is federally recognized.

Has anyone seen the new rake chart at the sign-in desk?

For $1/$2......$2 on the flop. So let me get this right.....3 players are in ..$6...the dealer is supposed to take $2 on the flop?

Yes. So please spread the word to never open limp from the button. Raise or gtfo. I've never been a fan of chopping, but I will do it now.

I hear that Foxwoods now has a "Tower of Terror" type amusement ride. While I agree it makes business sense to branch out with all the competition for gaming dollars, does anyone think that this focus on other activities will detract from resources put into gaming?

I like anything that keeps my wife and kid occupied for a couple hours and/or drops them off the top of a tower.

The landscape of gaming in New England will see massive changes with MGM opening in Springfield next year then Wynn in Boston the following year. There was a report several years ago identifying 36% of Foxwoods customers being Massachusetts residents (19% of Mohegans were from MA). Foxwoods, and to a lesser degree Mohegan, needs to be proactive in creating alternative ways to attract business than simply gaming as they will undoubtedly being losing a large percentage of their player base once those MA casinos open.

So it looks like a new indoor racing track is in the works and will open early next year.

Any idea where it would be built?

Also of note from that article. Richard Rawlings, who's restaurant near the rainmaker garage seems to have stalled, was with the Foxwoods CEO at this event in NH. I'd guess his restaurant is still on the table.

Last time I was there I was chatting with some maintenance workers in the elevators of the tower and they mentioned that they had already started working on the race track in the basement levels of the Fox Tower parking structure.

If I was a gambling man (pun intended), I would say that if Richard Rawlings does open a restaurant I think he would take over where the food court is on the Tower side. Its got good traffic and its a big space. Plus honestly how busy is that food court? The seafood part is only open 3 days a week.

Food court gets busy before/after shows. Other than that I've never seen more than a handful of people in there at any given time.

Did anyone play in the Madness? Does anyone else find it unusual that there were SEVEN Royal Flushes in the 12 hours of the event? I'm not insinuating that there was any foul play, but I think it is statistically significant that 7 royals came out when there should've maybe been 2.

If Rawlings is smart it wouldn't be next to the Bingo hall on the opposite side of the majority of the casino activity. Will that side of Foxwoods even exist in 2-3 years? The inevitable downsizing of Foxwoods has to begin on that side it's the only thing that makes sense.

Edit: Didn't see the two prior posts.

Right because with 90 games running it's impossible right?

Let's talk variance.
