The coach from maple leaf gardens (yonge + college) takes 90minutes..

If I were you id just go to woodbine its closer, and it has 1/2,2/5, 5/5 at electronic tables.

Don't forget the SNGs with as low as 4% rake!

How many 2/5 tables run on Fri, Sat and Sun? Basically choosing between Niagara and Rama. I suspect Niagara is the best bet.

Typically Friday and Sat nights will have 2 5/10's and the rest (15 tables) will be 2/5. On a Sunday hard to say anywhere from 5-12 tables depending on the time.

Oh wow. Didn't realize it would have that many 2/5's. Thanks for the response.

Fallsview continues to be an absolute joke. I go about 3x a year, hoping something has changed. Nothing ever does.

I called ahead and asked what the biggest game was. They said 5/10 so I put myself on the list. I showed up, and after an hour and a half of playing was told it's actually a must move table. Strange nobody mentioned that, but ok sure.

Got moved to the main game and it's 5/10/20. Except not really. Guy doesn't post his 20 and nothing happens. And I say parrrdon? Apparently it's a 5/10 game, but everyone agrees to do a blind raise of 20. And if you don't post the 20, there's no consequences. Also, if you're the 20 and there's no raise, you don't get an option to raise!

These rules are clearly awful so I say, hey, I'm not ok with this, why don't we solve this by just making it 10/20? I get told no, because not having the extra $5 in the pot kills the action. I laughed. I should note that half the table are collosal douchebag primadonnas that think they're good because they can beat/breakeven at live poker at Fallsview. I briefly decide what to do. Should I just rile them up by not posting the 20 every time? Ultimately, I made the smart move. I left, and I won't be going back anytime soon, if ever.

On the way out, I calmly let the floor know the flaw in the game and the reasons I'm cashing out. They didn't care at all.

I'll try woodbine/underground next time/from now on.

I've made a lot of criticism of Fallsview, but I don't think you can blame the staff for your frustrations that night. If the players made a "gentlemen's agreement" to post a blind raise of $20, the dealer or floor are unable to enforce it so it's up to the players to get the "douchebag" to put his $20 in if he had agreed to do so.

While Woodbine has been approved by the AGCO to have a LIVE straddle, you can be faced with the same situation as I have played in the 5/5 where players agreed to a $10 straddle, but if one player refused to straddle his $10 turn, the staff would not have been able to do anyhing about it either. By the way, the buy-ins for Woodbine 5/5 are only $200-$1,000 while it is up to $2,000 at Fallsview.

If you're going with the rest of us to WPT Montreal this month, the Kahnawake poker rooms are much worse for cash games with an unbeatable rake of up to $15 PER HAND, while Fallsview charges us only that much for 20-25 hands per hour session.

Life is indeed too short if you decide to play high stakes in an underground and you have a girlfriend/wife to live for. Just like the couple of PFC members who win at Fallsview, accept its limitations, but enjoy our profits when we do play there and smile all the way to the bank!

A well thought out post but it comes down to this: A mandatory blind raise is positively mind-numbingly stupid.

It's -EV for you if you're the only player that does the blind raise, but if you can fool all (or most of) the players into doing it including the nits, then it can actually be +EV for you. If you think you are better than the "douchebag primadonnas," there is more money in the pot to be won with your skills advantage with no increase in rake at Fallsview.

Do you agree that the $15 max rake per POT at the Kahnawake poker rooms is unbeatable in the long run for the average Fallsview player that only pay $14 rake per HOUR? I'll be joining the convoy driving to Montreal next week to play a few tournaments, but what are the fun things to do around Montreal for those of us who won't be playing the unbeatable cash games?

Yes the rake sucks but the food it top notch so sit at a 2/5 game for an hour and get a meal that would cost you $40 at a restaurant for free and if you maybe you will win a few hundred dollars while your at it.

Rue St. Catharine's is a good place to start for outside poker lots of bars and strip clubs! Ton of stuff to do downtown....

Played Event #1 and cashed for very small amount but was a very will run tournament 200bb starting stacks and 30 min levels. Top notch dealers, chairs, food, service, etc. Great poker room.

Will FV be busier this weekend since its an American Holiday? Does FV even attract many Americans to the room or are most people just tourists or from Toronto?

Nash, I've seen you post in several threads about the rake at different casinos, is this seriously all you talk about?

No, but rake is one of the important factors in how I manage to remain a winning player every single year that I have played poker. I'm currently at WPT Montreal and I can answer your questions about Playground's polar opposite of Fallsview Casino, but I'm not supposed to talk about anything else besides rake.

Can anyone give me a recent update of approximately how many tables run at each stake for weekdays/weekends? And is this dependant on the time of the year?

Thanks a lot!

Sunday-Wednesday Night
(5) 2/5nl games

Thursday Night
(4) 2/5nl, (1) 5/10nl

Friday-Saturday Night
(12) 2/5nl, (2) 5/10nl, (sometimes 1) 10/25nl

Games start early on Friday/Saturday, but on weekdays it's slow before 6pm. Holiday weekends are the busiest times of the year.

2/5nl runs 24 hours a day, but bigger games usually start in the late afternoon and break before 5am.

No, it's higher for 5/10: $500 - $2,000.
