Took a few years

Since no one has posted this yet, the FV room is closed Mon-Fri 6am-10am (they close the tables at 5:30am). 2/5 game opens up at 10am Mon-Fri. Weekends the games wrap.

Heading to Niagara this weekend to play... but it's been ~6 months since I've last been and sounds like there have been a bunch of changes. I checked Bravo today but it doesn't tell much of the story...

1) Has the location of the FV room changed? Does it still have a regular 2/5 game?

2) Is the new CN room up & running yet? Last trip, they were in the dingy temp location. If the new room has opened...what's it like?

I was a both FV and CN this past weekend. I didnt play but did walk through the Casino's. FV room has moved out of the old Space which is now occupied with Slot Machines. They have moved to the Right side of the Bar/Club. There where about 3 Tables Running. It has shrunk significantly. And CN has moved from where they used to be to a smaller more private room. Looks as though CN offers 1/3 and 2/5 NL, and FV 2/5 and 5/10 NL. This was Sunday morning around 11am. There was 1 table running at CN and a dealer waiting to start at game at another.

Thanks PTL -- I know you say it was 11am the morning, but I checked Bravo last night and both rooms only had like 2-4 tables running with big wait lists for all games (esp 1-2 & 2-5). Has this become the new norm? Have the rooms (esp CN) downsized that much?!

As far back as I can remember there have always been huge waitlists especially on Weekends. Mind you Ive seen the lists for weekdays. And yes the FV has downsized drastically. But the CN room looks like the same amount of tables just a different layout. Plus I like the fact that at CN there is no live stage like the location of the old room. I remember playing at CN a couple years ago on a Saturday night and there was a live band playing music. OMG shoot me now trying to play poker and a live band blaring away. I hate it TBH.

Did Fallsview shut down? Currently no games running with five 2/5nl games running at CN.

I checked their Bravo and they deleted all info about the room.

What about the Fallsview Classic? Is that event moved to CN or is it cancelled?

Fallsview casino poker room is officially closed indefinitely (as far as we know with no plans to re-open). All games now at Casino Niagara.

Apparently during Fallsview classic they will have cash games in the hall next to or near the tournament area.

Pretty stupid lol. to go from having 14+ full tables on weekends to having 0 tables ever. i went there a few months ago, and used to go a lot more often.

but since they made it 5 tables i went less, but still enjoyed myself every 8 weeks or so. Casino niagara is steaming ****ing pile, just out of spite ill never ****ing go there.

now i guess ill only return once per year for the $2500 WPT and whatever cash games are happening at that time.

So how are the 2/5 and 5/10 games on weekdays? Is it still full of recreational players or a bunch of regs?

From what I've read weekends are usually quite good.

Are the 2/5 games feeders to the main game or you're welcome to change tables?

I'm sad to see this place close, was the first casino I played poker in (and on my honeymoon no less)

I stayed at Fallsview just once, for a few days. The poker room was poorly run. But, the room at CN was even worse.
Long waitlists with no chance of opening another table- a daily and nightly occurrence. I'm thinking a lot of players have migrated over to the USA side.

i dunno it says on Bravo "up to 30 tables available at the grand hall until Feb 12th"

perhaps its still early from the $1100 and not enough dealers? isnt that today or maybe im wrong.

Ah, you're right. That tournament starts today. They just opened up a couple more 5/10 tables, so hopefully they'll keep opening up more tables.

The casino doesn't want to pay dealers their hourly earn to sit there and sort decks or nod off into space. So they only open tables when a new shift starts.

If a wave of tour buses hit the poker room they still wouldn't open new tables until 4pm.....

This place is run by absolute morons. Really hope the new casino at woodbine can eventually steal the WPT event and cash game traffic from Fallsview.

As some of you may know, Great Canadian Gaming has chosen to remove poker permanently from the Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry, effective Monday June 26th. This is in addition to them having removed poker from Woodbine the day they took over 6 months back.

Today a friend of mine heard back from the General Manager at Woodbine, where he stated poker is not in the plans for any of GCG's Toronto area properties. I believe GCG hates poker, and they will not be spreading it at any of their casinos. Land in Port Perry costs nothing. For them to remove it from that casino is a very, very, very bad sign.

Accordingly, I've come to the conclusion that it's now time to launch a PR campaign against GCG, with the intended effect of making them adhere to their commitments to the OLG when they were granted the license for the GTA casinos, which includes, among other things, diversifying the offerings, and lowering their customer age demographic (ie more poker, less slots).

After the petition has sufficient numbers if I don't see a satisfactory response I'll be taking the campaign to the media.

Very unfortunate news if true. This is terrible. Ive heard contrary news that the tables are coming at some point. But who knows really whats going to happen in the future. If they built a poker room at Woodbine it would be massive and there are tons and tons of players in the GTA. I hope this ends well.

I saw the email from the GM of Woodbine. It was as bleak as could be.
