out of that list, there are 4 people i recognize

i believe that recognition of a name is a large part of celebrity

anyway, this would be better on the weekend versus a Thursday night because there are vast amounts of people in society who cannot play in poker tournaments on Thursday nights

All of those folks are recognizable to people who listen to WIP and I'm sure that some of them even would be recognizable to sports fans generally in the tri-state area.

And do you think that promotions are more necessary for weekday tournaments or weekend tournaments?

Registration will open in the room at approximately 1:15pm today

I spoke to WIP this morning and additional celebrities may be attending but as of this post confirmation has not been received.

Hope to see you all tonight!

I do not like grey areas when dealing with money because after the decision is made it remains a distraction many hands after with people talking over the play to voice their opinions. I hope that management can be convinced to make the betting and muck line a hard line not a courtesy
I guess the only solution to fight angle shooters is to slow the game to an absolute crawl and verify with dealer what the action is and is it binding.

I don't care for this crap in tourneys, hiding their hands or chips in attempt to gain some info or advantage. Clowns.

Thanks, but came in 40th-ish while paying 27. Never got a good run going. PLO8 tourney at the Borgata tommorrow morning to take my mind off it.

Last hand was Q10s on the small blind. Blinds were 3k - 6k 500 antes. Folded to my SB. I shove with my remaining 42K. BB calls with AJo which holds up. I think it was a standard shove. Other choice was trying to fold into 27th place.

Hi Kevin,

I hope you, the dealers and the location are safe and good.

There was one tree in my backyard that I was worried about, lucky for us it wasn't a bad beat, it fell in the space between the town homes.

I am very glad to hear that you folks are back.

Kevin –
I was there with the rest of the degenerates for the 3:00 rush. The room handled the rush great. Played the 4:00 tourney that had bigger than expected turnout, it was also handled fantastic. You got a good group in the room.

Now that I buttered you up, here is my DP Christmas wish. I’d love to see a PLO8 tourney sometime between Christmas and New Years. I played the event at Borgata this past Saturday. Even with the pending hurricane shutdown, the event was well traveled. They took out the $15K guarantee, but it still went over. I saw a few DP regulars.

Borgata does a few good things with this tourney:
- Decent structure; 30 min rounds and 15K starting stacks.
- Re-entry and late entry through 4 levels.
- $230 entry fee (better that $150).
- Run the event about once per year as PLO Deepstack weekend.
- Send out postcard notices of the event to Omaha players.

My hope is that DP can run a like event and an annual/semiannual basis.

Don't have exact details, but here's a general description that may have it way wrong. Hopefully Kevin can give a more accurate description or post a picture or something:

Giant board on the wall in the cash game room with like 36 squares or something. Each square has a specific hand and cash value, for instance "four of a kind in deuces", or "Royal Flush in Hearts" and a dollar value. If I remember right the values range from like $100 to $1k depending on how hard it is to hit that hand..You win the dollar value shown if you're the first to show down that specific hand. The very last square left on the board wins like $5k or something.

They had it before but discontinued it cause all the hands got made too fast.

Only cash hold'em games qualify obviously.

In case anyone knows: is this Saturday's noon $340 w $20K guarantee still on? If this has run before, does it typically crush the guarantee?

Played for the second time at DP last night and enjoyed the experience again. Every dealer at my table (except one) was friendly and loosened up the table. The lousy dealer gave me **** for sending a text message at the table after a hand. Everyone at the table had been texting occasionally and the next dealer who came by said it's not against the rules to text as long as you aren't in the hand.

they are inconsistent about phones. im on mine constantly

in tournaments some dealers are super strict even if you are out of the hand, others dont care as long as you are out

if you arent texting and in a cash game just say "im not texting"

It was more about how the guy dealt with it rather than the actual rules. He was just pretty rude about it. The next dealer came by and said it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't affect play. And I wasn't holding up anything at the time, anyway. Oh well.

The stance of the casino, and the rules they have are that you are not allowed to use any sort of two way communication device while you are seated at the table weather you are in a hand or not. This makes sense for any number of different reasons.
Having said that, 95%+ of the dealers don't really care, as long as you are not slowing down the game, and are not in a hand. This is acceptable to just about all players, and since the casino is here for the players, it is acceptable for the casino also.
While it is a dealers right, (and actually their job) to stop you from using your phone to text at the table, they should remain polite about it if they do. Further more, you should remember that you are breaking the rules by doing it, and you're receiving a courtesy from a dealer who says nothing, so give them some credit if they ask you to not be on your phone. (Which normally only happens when you are causing some sort of delay.)

It depends on the casino and the players involved. There have been cases, and indeed its in the rules, where promotions can be invalidate if an electronic device is being used during a prize hand. They include bbj's, high hands, and similar.

I have never had issues being on my phone at DP or at any casino really as long as I was not in the hand. Seems unrealistic with the pace of cash games when you are not in the hand to not look at your phone over a whole session. You could always be a penis and just stand up behind your chair and text if the dealer gives you poop
