I'm heading to Montreal on business in a week or 2 and I want to turn it into a poker holiday. I'm mainly an online MTT player so it is a rare opportunity to play live as there is no poker in my home country.

I see there are no major tournaments in town during my stay. Can somebody tell me please what is the turnout for the nightly tournaments at Playground or Casino de Montreal? Are they small field MTTs? Is the structure worth playing?

I played cash at Playground last time I was there and after an hour none of us had chips as all the chips went down the hole wtf. I swore I'd never play cash there again as after being raped once I am afraid to be raped a second time, like most rape victims.

I'm definitely going AirBnB for the stay. I can get a condo with all the amenities much cheaper than a 4 or 5 star hotel.

I recently went to Montreal with my wife and got to play the Sunday night MTT at the casino. Structure is meh, but it's still worth it to play, was a $65 I believe. They have a cap on tourney tables, I think 80 players is the max, if I remember correctly. Lots of backups, so we ended up having a pretty decent 1st place payout.

I also stayed in an AirBnb condo next to the Bell Centre and it was awesome.

Thanks for the info HomeStar. I also stayed airbnb my last trip to MTL and plan to do that again this time. Did you happen to notice what cash games are offered here at the casino recently? Buy in min/max, blinds, rake, number of tables, waitlists, etc. All NLH or is there some PLO too? Cheers

BBJ is over 1 million now. Gotta lose with quad tens.

They only have 1/2 250 max with 10% 8$ capped rake with 1$ jackpot drop and 2/5 1000 max with 10% 10$ capped rake with 1$ jackpot drop.

5/10 runs on the occasion.

No PLO

Add $3/hr each for the BBJ ($1 per hand per pot).

Playground provides free food/drinks. So if you're gonna eat a steak and lobster every other hour and constantly drink, then go to Playground.

Both rooms are ****ty action wise (mostly nits, grinders and regs). Sometimes wait time is very long because of so few tables running.

I'm talking 2/5 NL. The 1/2 has a slightly smaller rake but it's much bigger compared to stakes. You also have a very limited menu of "free food" at playground for the 1/2.

If you're looking for a night of (expensive) fun, go for it. The EV is no better (if not worst) than house games. Hope this helps.

Any other option than Casino de Montreal and Playground? I heard there's a lot of underground cash games in bowling and bar around the Grand Montreal Area. If anyone knows any please PM me.

Hey guys. Anyone grinding here regularly? I will be in Montreal October 1-7 for touristy stuff and poker and will split my time 50-50% between Casino Montreal and Playground.

Hi guys, how are things in MTL? How much is actually the rake in Casino? They have "no flop no drop"? There is still a shuttle from the city to casino? It´s 24 hours? And just a stupid question, they play in C$ right?

Some changes at the Casino de Montreal Poker Room. They are rebranding everything to "OK Poker", and there will be room remodeling work from today until Sept 18.

Some new promos started last week :

- BBJ split will now be 40%/20%/20%/20% (they added the room share)

- High hands SUN-THU : $50 for quads, $200 for str8 flush and $500 for royal flush, and you then go pick a multiplier from 1x to 5x

- $40 tournament last sunday of the month. Dunno if there's a guaranteed prizepool

- New $1/$1 table with no rake (just a table fee). That's what they say, because fact is this table fee is a $7 rake every 30 minutes

Did they shut down any tables due to the remodeling?

Not sure, my understanding is the room will still operate, they've put signs explaining they would do it with a minimum disturbance for players.

$1/$1 just seems awfully small, but I can imagine it picking up traction with people just looking to be introduced to the game.

I remember The Linq in Vegas had a $1/$1 PLO game that ran every night because enough players wanted to try it out with low risk

How often do 5/10 or bigger games run at the casino? Are games typically more action packed than at playground? Does the 2/5 game run 24 hours a day for the most part?

2/5 is virtually 24/7, although I haven't been there in years I can't imagine it has changed.

5\10 is rare, it’s mostly 5\5 when It goes higher than 2\5

Weekdays play only evenings like after dinner unless you want to pay super high rake against a cast of regs and grinders

Poker room is now reopen.
Located on the 1st floor of the Pavillon de la France
Gradual resumption of activities: 8 gaming tables now open

Now with more progressive bad beat jackpot winners!
A share of the pot will now be split among all the players in the room!

$1/$1 low‑limit tables
No rakes (pay just a session fee)!

Someone have been there?
What is the session fee?
I am kind of unsure if it's in the same spot, I think not, because if I recall correctly, the French Pavillion is the main building.
Someone as news on tournaments?
