Short stack bvb calls Short stack bvb calls

I've been trying to better delineate my bvb calling ranges, and was wondering if anyone has a view on higher suited connector bvb calls.

An example below: I'm really low, and my read on the SB is that he's shoving quite wide bvb, but am unsure, I don't think it can be less than say 35%.

    Poker Stars, $1.36 Buy-in (100/200 blinds, 25 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #17304881

    CO: 3,740 (18.7 bb)
    BTN: 2,821 (14.1 bb)
    SB: 7,458 (37.3 bb)
    Hero (BB): 1,320 (6.6 bb)
    UTG: 1,075 (5.4 bb)
    MP: 3,205 (16 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T 8
4 folds, SB raises to 1,400, Hero calls 1,095 and is all-in

    Flop: (2,740) A K A (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    Turn: (2,740) T (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    River: (2,740) 5 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Pokerstove has 108s as about 39% against his range.

OK, marginal, super-standard? And what kind of range are you calling here?

If he's shoving as wide as he should given effective stats then I'm calling about 30% and this sneaks in at the bottom of my range. T8o I'm folding.

Depends on the villain though as if he's shoving closer to 20% I'm folding and a lot of players including regs don't shove anywhere near as wide as they can in the midstages.

    Sounds reasonable.

I think one advantage to higher suited connectors and T8s here is that it has low sensitivity to mistaken reads on a villain's range. Its equity is fairly low variance from the tighter to wider spectrum compared to other similar strength hands.

Yeah its definitely going to play better against a tighter range than say A3o.

I try to avoid getting too marginal with calls though as at this level most people don't call near wide enough so I'd always rather be getting them in first than trying to gain a few % equity on a narrow call.
