UTG raises on a six handed table and I'm in BB with ATo. Since it's only 6 handed, I'm viewing it as if he's raising from mid position 9 handed. His stats are loose, but only 8 hands as a sample.

Is this too loose of a shove or is it ok? Either way, I think both sides are close... but I definitely could be wrong.

With the sample size of this opponent, it is really tough to have a good understanding of how they play. Do you remember if you have seen any of their previous holdings? Do you use any apps that calculate equity and or icm?

The only app I have right now for calculating equity is Equilab. Considering the sample size is so small, I lowered the opponents vpip to 25% here which could still be too wide. But it seems equilab is no longer working on my computer(mac using app to open windows software). Equilab is pretty basic, but can still give you a decent idea of what kind of equity you have.

I think I would also shove here because the opponent's stack is deeper and his limited sample size shows he may be willing to play pretty wide. I think it's unlucky that the opponent had a slightly better kicker than you.

with your reads its prob standard play to jam,more or less depends what he calls off,but i think ATo+,A8s+,KQo,KJs+,55+ you can shove all day long with clear +cEV,might go even wider adding A9o,A7s,44 etc...
he shouldn't fold much,if he does it makes more +ev for you

You're on the right lines here but just view it as if he raised into specifically 5 people in either case.

The number of players who tossed their cards before it reached him is irrelevant. This is why UTG is a bad term to use - call this player to the right of HJ the lowjack or LJ, whether 6 or 10 handed.

Ok good point. Raising into X number of players is the revelant info here. and not the name of his position eg UTG. I'll look at it this way going forward.
