hey fellas

Poker Stars, $0.45 Buy-in (2,000/4,000 blinds, 400 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 4 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: 58,948 (14.7 bb)
BB: 73,800 (18.5 bb)
Hero (CO): 67,974 (17 bb)
BTN: 69,278 (17.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A 9
Hero raises to 8,000, BTN folds, SB raises to 58,548 and is all-in, BB folds, Hero

The final table has been going on for a while and SB reships his stack into me, he is one of the more "solid" players @ the table so he probably won't show up with 73o.
Would you call yourself?

It's good to know you have a tight image on him. But "tight" can also mean folding ATo (better hands than yours). What stats do you have on him more exactly? (incl. 3bet steal)

In my calculations, he can be as "tight" as 3betting with 20% and calling would still be bad.
I don't think he 3bets this light (does he?) so folding is best.

OTOH, when raising in these situations, it's good to plan what you will do with each player, if getting shoved. You save time (you only have 15s in turbos) and focus energy.

Hope this helps.

As it was said, i think this is a fold unless youve some kind of good read that he might reraise you very very lightly

But mostly fold imo

ICM here is comparable to the bubble of a 6-man SNG.

I looked this up in a rudimentary spreadsheet assuming even stacks (i.e. everyone has 67500). You would open 24-25% (so A9s is fine) and SB jams about 17% and you can call him off with your top 5.9% - so 88+, AQo, AJs - in other words hands solidly ahead of his 3-betting range.

That's why you should just open jam this kind of spot with high ICM (again with even stacks) nash calculator would give

CO jams 18.1%, 99+ A2s+ A9o+ K9s+ KTo+ Q9s+ QTo+ J9s+
called by 4.2%, 99+ AQs+ AKo

so you put the others to the tough decision.
