Ok this is my first post so I hope I'm doing this right.
I've been playing for a while, but mainly turbo tournaments so my postflop experience and decision making isn't the greatest. Any advice is welcome.

I didn't have much reads on the villain but he seemed to be playing kind of fit or fold poker. He'd been mixing up limping and raising and had folded to all my min donk bets in limp pots and most of my cbets. No showdown yet. Stats 45/26/2 for the entire tournament.

He seemed to be the kind of player where I could keep picking up small pots and grinding him down; thats one of the main reasons I folded.

But looking back on the hand I think I should have called.
By checking the turn I've shown weakness and the pot sized bet looks more like its designed to get me to fold rather than call. Plenty of missed draws he could have. Also if I lose I still have 80k.

    What do you guys think?

Would he play a King this way or is his value range just 2 pair or better or is this always a bluff?
Would he have raised the flop with top pair or better?

Could I have avoided this spot by shoving the turn or would that have been turning my hand into a bluff and just leave me isolated against hands that beat me?

    Thanks guys.

shove preflop u have jack high dude (limp/min raise are all close imo)

as played u need to call

id prefer checking back flop, then hopefully calling turn and river to his bets

Note: i suck at analysing hands in word

OK thanks for the feedback. I guess checking back the flop would be the better play.

I bet because villain was folding to most of my cbets so a lot of the time I thought I just win it on the flop.

I ruled out shoving because villain wasn't 3betting much and I felt I had an edge postflop so my plan was to play small ball and grind him down.
I felt like shoving 12BBs with J7o was an unnecessary risk even though its marginally +EV, I didn't want to give him an easy double up

Preflop-Raising or jamming is fine based on flow/reads. I would probably bet the flop and turn for protection vs all the draws. Then river I would check and decide almost always calling when the turn and river are huge blanks like this.

I think preflop is close between shoving raising or even limping to keep the SPR high and stab all boards.

I don't like the cbet and fold on the river combines. As if you cbet you almost always do it for value on the flop as he has more draws and weeker part of range than value imo. he most likely is shoving strong Kx pre so I wouldnt be worried that much and call river as played. i think cbeting and folding river in this spot is bad, and you burn money on the flop.

i would skip cbet and call twice

Based on your reads and flow of heads up I agree with your river fold. I would much prefer to keep grinding him down by stealing small pots, than put yourself in a high variance spot. Against a tougher opponent I would call river as played.

Looking back at the hand with a clear head I cant believe I folded the river. So bad lol.
If someone else posted this hand I would tell them to snap call.

I guess I got confused by his pot sized shove because he'd been playing so passive, and in the 5 seconds or so I had to decide I mistook his aggression for strength and folded.

Passive players I often find more frustrating to play against than aggressive players.

One last thing; once I bet the flop is the best play to check turn and call river or should I bet turn for value/protection? If so how much? Should I shove?
