Fold after he raises flop. We don't know anything about the villain so we don't know if he likes to c/r often. If we have history with villain and he has a high c/r %.. then maybe this would be okay as we have overs and a g shot. But in general these typ o plays aren neccesary

Might like a check back flop here vs a defending range.

    i agree with oldschool.

as for the flop. wouldnt check this back. although its possible with a gut and two measily overs. we still have 8high and every hand he fold vs a bet has tons of equity against us. making high equity hand fold here is worth it imo.

I don't know but for me doesn't make much sense his x/r on this board. set ? I got the impression he looked to the board and thought that doesn't hit my range and did x/r

And that's fine. I agree with you, the board doesn't hit our range well. But given what we know about the villain this just isn't a play we need to make to be successful. Keep things simple take the easy spots

This might be true but you dont have info on the villain to realize if he´s capable of taking this line with air or the total nuts, or if he´s semi-bluffing, you´re just guessing, you cant assume villains are thinking/reasoning on the same level as you.

    +1 to this.

I keep doing this kind of thing and losing chips myself.

Villains at this level don't have enough of a raise/fold (or in the case of pre-flop 3-bet/fold) range. They nearly always call it off.

If you have a reads on the player it might be different.

i like checking back flop and delayed cbet ott/barrel right runouts after he checks twice to us.
    10-09-2016 , 02:26 PM
Why does check back on the flop is better instead of cbetting ? what are the runouts ? A,K,5?

the flop hits a bb defending range pretty hard. Any pair, oesd, gutshot with overs is not folding to a bet and we can get raised off our equity pretty often when he decides to check-raise with hands like 5x, random overs with bdfd, etc.

Once he checks twice to us on that board im mostly capping his range as never having a set/two pair/flopped str8 so we can be more confident in betting. I would discount 5x too so we can even barrel runouts that put a 4 card str8 out there as he rarely has 5x when he checks twice to us. It may be correct to cbet this spot vs a certain subset of players but nowadays ppl are defeding their bb so much wider and playing alot more solid post so they definately have some coverage on this board. I'd barrel broadway runouts/scary str8 runouts/and runouts we bink
