I need help with this hand. I'm not sure if folding was the right move here. It was the first 15 minutes of the tourney and I had a healthy stack so I folded, hoping to find some better spots later on. Note: no reads on the villain.

    calling

I agree with calling. You'll always have outs if you are behind and he doesnt need to have a strong hand to shove here.

I'd just flat pre. If you do choose to 3-bet just make it 350-400 though.

    As played, call flop.

Why would you flat pre with AK in the CO? This is like the only hand that I would ALWAYS 3bet in this spot.

I forgot this is a $0.50 - 3-bet-get it in is probably gonna be better.
Although in this same spot in a $2.50 or higher game I would just flat readless.

you know that's really bad right?
    12-18-2013 , 03:48 PM

Pre-ante vs. a 3x open... it's really not. If they min-raise then I 3-bet because they can continue with worse, but when they 3x we have to 3-bet to a larger amount and it's harder for us to get value.

We're so short that if we 3-bet and get called we leave an SPR of ~1... I'd rather just flat IP and actually play post-flop vs. a significantly weaker range.

To 3-bet with these stack sizes I'd want villain to either be calling 3-bets wide or getting it in wide. If we don't have that info then I'd just flat because we are ahead of villains range and can assume that we have a post-flop edge.

Hard to get that info if you only 3bet 1%.

You have to call 900 to win 2775 this is like 32% equity . If you put him on a range like 66+,ATs+ AJo+ KJs+ QJs+ KQo+ , on that board you have 14 outs ( 8clubs+3aces and if we count and the 3kings) . That means you have 55-56% chance to get any of them by the river.. On that calculations look like a clear call to me . Even if you put tighter range that you think he might open from that position 3x.You are going to be flipping alot of time .

This is a great explanation. Thanks.
