Why is Lock Poker so dead? Why is Lock Poker so dead?

07-11-2011 , 12:20 PM
Lock Poker claims to be having a huge surge of players due to recent events. However, every time I log in it seems dead. Just now i was looking for a table to watch. Site says around 4000 players online but I doubt there is even 500 at a table right now. Alot of the very popular games from other sites have no one playing them. Even Texas Holdem seems to have very few games going compared to what I was used to on Stars. Has anyone else noticed this? I have filter off BTW.

Stars was 300k+ players at peak before BF. Thus, if Lock poker claims 4000, that would be something like 1.5% of the players at Stars. Thus, it shouldn't surprise anyone to find a bit fewer tables running... It's what it's like for now.

I believe every day there are over 10,000 players online during peak hours.

ye... at around 20:00 server time it should reach its peak at around 10k players

I personally never had any problem finding games. Upto 15 tables of NLHE(most limits) run almost throught the day, except from 1 am- 9 am CDT. U need to wait a lil bit on HU tables for action. But thats fine I guess.

Also, not all 4000 players online play cash games. I am assuming that most of them play Sit and Go and MTTs.However, Best time to find games is between 2pm- 12 am CDT.

LOL. Yes, Lock/Merge is a smaller site than Stars. You may have been the only one who apparently didn't realize this.

but is it 10,000 players on Lock or the entire Merge Network?

The number you see is for the entire Merge network.

I can't help but laugh at this. When I started playing on Stars on 2003 I was amazed when it hit over 2000 players online ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!! During overnight hours it would dip back down below 1000.

I would not have thought there was any realistic way it would hit 10k any time in the near future....much less 300-freaking-k. Much less today's current scenario where 10k players online is now considered a small site. It's 10k freaking players from all over the world on the same site all at the same time (evidently 500-1k real money players actually seated I guess)...and this is somehow considered small-time. wow.

+1

I'm only 20 years old and I've only been playing for 2 years (all on stars pre BF) so I know how easily we can become spoiled by a good thing. Pokerstars *owned* the industry there for a while. Tis a damn shame...

Bad beat: Researched and studied poker before deposited. Read a few books, watched videos. Played multiple freerolls on FT. First day i decided to put a sizable bankroll on FT= black friday... FML

the most i see on lock is usually about 10k but at bad times its usually 5k hopefully when they re open registration for U.S players it builds up some

If Lock (and or Merge) did everything possible to emulate Stars we would all be better off. Oh wait, Stars went away... Everything but the last bit...

actually i've noticed the numbers in mtts going up a bit lately. Seems like more guarantees are going over. Noticing more forgein players at the tbls. Guess ppl looking for another site now that ftp is done.
